Oh man I always loved the art in Endless Space, and for sure can say the same here. God the painting that came with the age advancement was glorious.

There are a few very minor complaints, but there are also a few beautiful touches. The fact that very faction screen has their colors change appropriately depending on the color of their faction is a great one for me. I can tell two identical factions apart at a glance because of it.

I don't like that changing your units equipment doesn't change their visual appearance in the equipment window. I know it's knick picking, but I love visual recognition of advances. Also Quill, in case you didn't notice, the luxury resources give you bonuses for 10 turns. It costs 10 units of the luxury to start it.

It's a problem that Endless Space had too for awhile, as I recall. Eventually they added a few visual effects, such as different laser and torpedo effects, but other than completely different ship types everything looked the same no matter how much armor you added.
@allurbase100010 жыл бұрын
I seem to recall that Hero units did get a visual upgrade whenever you equipped special weapons and such, but I don't know if the same thing applies to regular units or regular equipment.
@Ulfhrafninn10 жыл бұрын
Weapons look does change, but yeah, armor is something they will probably add later, hopefully.

I know this is nitpicking, but its not knick picking.

You can micromanage the battles if you go from offensive to stand ground. Then you choose movements and targets.

Cities are pretty easy to manage. Just remember 3 things. Give them food to increase population. For every 2 population, you can make a new borough. When connected to 4 other boroughs, the tile levels up.
@cascainho10 жыл бұрын
To level up a city tile, just make 4 boroughs near one another (or 3 and the city center).

"So the more my warlocks take damage... Oh, wait, 'cause my people are all masochists!" Not a line one hears everyday.

Combat in this game actually seems p interesting. Will need to see more, obviously, and it IS hard to make a judgement based only on videos, but it seems to me like they found a good balance between Civ and AoW.

I think you've had an idle city there for several turns now. You should minimize rather than dismiss popups if you aren't going to take care of them immediately.

I like this series a lot. Seems to be a step up from Age of Wonder III.

in order to level up a city (or borough) it needs to be surrounded by 4 other boroughs

How is the combat in this game compared to a game like Civilization 5? I like Civ 5 combat but I'm not sure if I'd like the combat in this game as much. Is it more of the same, or is there actually some big differences?

The interface is nice-looking but it's still not very functional it seems :/
@reaperoa10 жыл бұрын
IDK what you mean. It's really very functional. Minimalist, sure, but everything is always just a click away. The only real gripe I can make is it isn't always clear what it's saying, but once you learn the rules it's pretty easy to figure out.
@228zip10 жыл бұрын
reaperoa That's exactly my problem with it : Small icons everywhere and none of them are very evocative. I'm still trying to figure out if the yellow neutral armies are quest objectives or mercs. Another issue I'm having is right-clicking to get out of city view makes your garrison move out. You have to get in super-close to the terrain to see FIDS output, but zoom out in order to see special resources, etc etc.
