You can build extractors on deposits even if they're not near your city, just as long as they're in the same region. Also, there's a Tier 1 tech called Language Square that allows you to start parleying with the minor factions.
@Cideous10 жыл бұрын
For city placement : the burros expand the city and you want to suround your city center with them to level up your city center so its a good idea to place it 2 away from the border even if there is good tiles there, you'll get the tiles anyway with the burro and you wont lose the 3 tiles you would have gotten. That being said love the game and love the video, hope this series last a good long while. Thanks Quill

@SpinifexV10 жыл бұрын
You don't need to be close to the Glasteel or other resources. You have to build extractors on them (though burroughs also work). They don't give bonuses (or much of them) to production, unlike anomalies.
@SpinifexV10 жыл бұрын
Extractors can be built on resources in the city's region, no matter the distance, as long as you have the tech. They don't need to be close to the city.

Hi, Quill! Love the game and looking forward to the rest of the series! One thing I've seen on other people's playthroughs is that people miss the Language Square technology, on the lower quadrant of Era 1, which enables you to bribe and parley with minor villages. I now have to wear a wig from all of the hair I've torn out from watching other people miss this! You should probably try and grab it if you want to follow your faction quest. Hope this helps!
@littlemikey4610 жыл бұрын
Hi Quill! Not sure if you've already recorded the follow up videos, but I'll answer some questions you raised! 1. To Parley, move your army to any neutral village. You can either Parley which starts a quest or Bribe which costs Dust. Once you complete the Parley quest all villages in that region will become friendly, bribing needs to be done per village in a region. 2. Glasteel and Titanium don't need to be next to a city, you can build special buildings like Extractors anywhere in a region you control. 3. You can use resources like Glasteel and Titanium to customise your armies, and create specialised units. Press the fist icon in the top right to view your armies and create new units! (Each civilization only gets a few individual units, but you can then add the minor faction units as well as changing their gear to specialize them even more!) 4. You can move your citizens between jobs by clicking on your city and then dragging the little citizen icons between the various jobs like Food and Industry. I've only played one game so far, so I'm probably missing a bunch of things too, but I hope this helps!

Quill, u dont have to have glasteel or titanium in your city tiles, u can build extractors if they are in your region. Also, to parley u needed to research a specific tech for that.

Ah finally, I was really hoping you'd start a let's play of this now that it's out. Thanks!
@fingolfin700110 жыл бұрын
The bribing is an action that's unlocked via research. It's in the lower quarter, the one with the speech bubble. Also, more or less top priority (for me) is researching and building the mill foundry, since it increases production speeds by quite a bit. Extractors can be built anywhere in the controlled region, not just in city range. My opinion is that building boroughs asap to increase the city's cover is always a worthwhile investment, especially when adding either science or production.
@Kaeridan10 жыл бұрын
Also, that tile has tons of production because it has an Anomaly. Anomalies are things like Chromatic Land, Botanical Gardens, Moss Pearls, Wizard Stones, etc. Each gives the tile a ton of specific outputs, from Dust to Influence and Approval. Some are rarer than others and have higher outputs.

I don't know if you figured it out, 'cuz I'm still watching, but just so I don't forget: If you surround your City Center with 4 adjacent (or more) Districts it'll level up. If you surround a District with 3 or more adjacent Districts (excluding the City Center tile) it will level up. This increases the bonuses you get. Someone on the forums made a topic explaining how to build efficient tall cities, which can be done by building districts on a 2-tall or 3-tall line around the city or by building districts in a triangular fashion around your city center, which leads to the best result but is very hard to accomodate on most terrain, since you can't overwrite Ruins or Villages. The biggest city I managed to build was an Ardent Mages' 6x6 triangle with the city in one of the three middle spots, but this took me well over the 300 turn score-victory mark. Also, building districts allows your Garrisoned units to deploy more units at a time when you get sieged.

People already mentioned it,but I'll repeat it anyway. Resources (glassteel,titanium) can be harvested with extractors from build menu (don't need to be in city radius). Anomaly's need to be in city radius to give bonuses. And parley is Lvl 1 tech idea.

The way you expand your city is important because it affects happiness: a city hex surrounded by 4 others goes to level 2,and level 2 hexes surrounded by 4 city hexes goes to 3, with a significant increase of happiness. Otherwise increasing the number of cities will drive unhappiness through the roof. So you have to modulate your overall expansion (number of cities) with vertical expansion within cities in order to control unhappiness. If you do it right, you can have very happy cities all over the map; but expand faster than your happiness can support and unhappiness and revolts will be your undoing.

Your city doesnt have to be in range to extract the glasssteel. You can build extractors on resources as long as they are in a region you control. To parlay with the minor factions you need the language square technology. If you pacify them through diplomacy you dont have to spend production on rebuilding the village to get the extra population. You should try to settle cities on river tiles because with some tech you can make good money which there are not many ways of getting early on in the game. You also probaby shouldn't settle more than 4 cities early on and build the first 4 district adjecent to the city hall. You will then get a level 2 city hall. It has some minor benefits I think but the important thing is you will get a quest to get a level 2 city hall. You could technically do more than 4 cities without unhappieness but then you cant have many districts. Anoher very important thing is you shouldnt delete the stock unit build. If you do you cant retrofit your units. I made a new unit and deleted the old thinking I could upgrade but that didnt work. Maybe I missed something but yeah I rage quit because of that. Hope this helps somebody. Gg

Well, well... I waited for month that some of my favorite LPer finally play this game. At the moment the only thing that bothers me is the lack of a challenging AI in the game, since even on high difficulty you have no problem to simply wipe out all of your enemys with 2-3 armies with up-to-date equipment - with every fraction regardless their suggested victory-type. -.- But besides that - maybe the best TB-Strategy since Civ5... :)
@MrVykis10 жыл бұрын
probably someone would make a mod for better AI
@andymion10 жыл бұрын
Endless Space had the same problem, took several updates for the AI to become even remotely challenging.
@christopherzajonskowski712310 жыл бұрын
tbh - It's easy to overlook that EL is still an early access title since it actually feels good to play and looks quite polished. I've all my trust in Amplitude that they'll make the AI at time. It should be clear, that the AI is one of the last thing to work out in a project where also central game mechanics are subject to change - otherwise you have to teach the AI what to do with every update und balancing-changes. But so far I find that Amplitude is one of the few studios that make proper games - even if I'm very 'conservative' whit buying early access titles in early stages of developement - I own all three of their games since their early days. :) And I haven't regret it thus far. The combat is a still a bit... nah... let's face it - it's boring to the bone. But I for myself favor the automated combat - even in ES - so it's not that great deal for me. Since it looks like the new Civ will be a clone of Civ5 (what means not, that I won't buy it nonetheless ^^) EL is the only proper TBS title for me for the next month. Well, so I have to WARN them, to make it a really good game. :D

Tymur Gubayev Yeah... seems that I'm not totaly up to date. :D Okay, that's somewhat weird... As we know Amplitude, being out of E.A. doesn't mean there no more frequent updates, but I'm not absolutely sure if I would see EL to be a "release-candidate" in it's actual state. o.o We'll see where this is going...

Use your luxury resources like dyes for a boost. You spend these to give a temporary boost to your empire's happiness and other things like tech, dust, etc. This is done in one of the menus of the game. Click on the resource in the menu at 23.07. That should let you spend them. I got stomped by the AI in my first game because they were using this feature and I wasn't! Well that was one of the many reasons.....
