After 22 years together we got married this year in September. I think that I may start on our wedding date and celebrate our first year of marriage with this quilt. I have requested to join the facebook group and after finishing a wallhanging that I am doing as a Xmas present will go to Bramble patch to pick my fabrics. EXCITED!

You could always do hearts for significant days, like birthdays and anniversaries. That practice block is very pretty. One thing for you to be aware of is that some U.K. days your max and min may be in the same range and you won’t have a circle on some days.

Lovely idea! A friend just let me see her Temperature Blanket last week and it was when I first learned about it. After that I thought that there might be a Temperature Quilt, did a search and landed in your channel. Very happy of having found your project. The square with the circle is a fab idea. Thank you for the entertaining and informative tutorial. Not sure I would embark in a project like this at the moment, but it might be a fantastic item for my New Year Resolution list. 😉

Home bargains do really pretty lidded boxes that are perfect project boxes for quilts. If you want to preshrink fabrics a good steam press prior to cutting works well but always do it before cutting. The issues with the frixion heat erasable pens seams to happen more in the US. I’ve never had it come back but you can get a fade mark on dark fabric which is okay if you’ve marked a sewing line where there will be stitching. For EPP you can use a ruler to cut around your papers, if you use a 1/4” seam allowance an add a quarter ruler is great for this. You could still use a circle on the front in a QAYG quilt and just use normal backing fabric for the wrap around fabric.
@stitchwithrachel11 ай бұрын
Excellent thank you! I'll go to home bargains and have a look 😄 yeah I agree that it seems to be an issue in America, everyone is scaring me 😂 I like the idea of using the quarter inch ruler to help cut around your templates! Thank you for all your really helpful tips 💖

Getting very excited about the QAL!! I have decided on white background with needle turn hearts for the high temps of the day. I will be embroidering for each day that is a special meaning, such as birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, throughout the year....

Your quilt is going to look amazing ❤ I will be following your progress even though I won't be joining in with you. I have a couple of qayg quilts that I really want to concentrate on in 2024 and I am hoping that Santa brings me a book I have been wanting for a while which has lots of projects in that I want to make. Hopefully I have managed to keep off the naughty list this year! 🤞🤞😂😂

The prints and colors of your fabric choices are so very pleasing to the eye, Rachel. I think it will make a beautiful quilt. I am attempting to learn EPP after the first of the NY (‘24) from your videos. I’ve always wanted to learn but to take a formal paid for in person live class has been quite expensive and I just couldn’t justify the expense. Especially if I don’t care for using the technique. Happy I’ve found you thanks to KZbin Suggested Channels for me feature.

Hi Rachel. Love your Liberty fabrics. Your quilt is going to be so very pretty. I am using fabrics from my stash and hoping I will have enough. I am pretty sure I will. As my quilt will be made with hexi flowers I can't really do a practice block without wastage, as all blocks will represent 7 days. I am just trying to decide on the different sizes as my original thought would make a massive quilt. Now to cut back. Enjoy your week. xx

This sounds amazing Rachel, I'd love to join you 😊. I'm trying to understand the two colours, is the square the lowest temperature and the circle the highest? Also, if I do a quilt as you go, what colour is the backing which will outline the square? So many questions, I'm new to this, I'd appreciate some guidance, thank you for your inspiration.

When the heat erasable pen comes back... Just iron over it again and it will disappear. ... Yes, it will eventually reappear but... At least your project isn't ruined. 💖🌞🌵😷
@jzsketchcraft11 ай бұрын
Heat erasable pen only comes back under freezing tempuratures and can just be ironed away again, less of a risk than the water ones which can stain if left on for too long

Hi Rachel, are you going to do different size circles? Might give your quilt a different look xxxx
@stitchwithrachel11 ай бұрын
Yeah I meant to say in this video but forgot, I'm going to do the circled slightly different sizes, not hugely different and I'm not going to worry about centering them exactly so it will have a nice organic feel to it xx
@juliejeavons694911 ай бұрын
@@stitchwithrachelif you’re thinking of different sized circles you could give that meaning by adjusting for how long the high temperatures last; small circles for a short blip and large temperatures for a longer period. Wunderground and timeanddate both give you a graph of daily temperatures so it’s easy to see the whether it’s a proper warm day or just a passing moment.

I do like this block, although my taste runs more to solids. I think the contrast is just enough and the lovely flowers complement each other.
@stitchwithrachel11 ай бұрын
Thank you for your opinion, I do usually go for a mix of patterns/solids but I went wild in the shop and then suddenly realised that the fabrics had to lay on top of each other for the quilt but I like it too 😂
@janewardle555811 ай бұрын
I don't prewash, I mix fibres I pin and will tack larger pieces, I stay clear of heat "erasable" pens. There's so many different kinds of Marmite in quilting.

Hi Heather, Thank you for watching.. I am using date and time.com to look at temperatures from the previous day (so I'm always a day behind) this website shows the high and low every 6 hours across the day so I just read it from there rather than the forecast x
