Hello from NC Bonnie….thank you for sharing your love of quilting and cross stitch. You are so talented. Such a treat, we love the same designers…Jo Morton, Pam Buda, and Kim Diehl, are among my favorites. I love Blackbird Designs too. I find such a calmness and peace when I do my needlework. I also love crochet. The log cabin piece behind you is gorgeous! Love the pumpkin piece..just beautiful. Fun to “visit” with you Bonnie. Thank you for sharing your faith with us. (P. S. I love the 80 weight Aurifil for appliqué too!)

Have a lot of your same interests, Featherweights, cabins, quilting, wood boxes and my faith in God! I did have two Featherweights but lost one in my cabin fire so I am looking for another one and planning on rebuilding my cabin high in the Rocky Mountains on the dirt road far away from traffic! Your new sewing room looks nice and big! I used to enjoy hand quilting but now I am in such a hurry to start another one ! Hope you are enjoying living in Colorado, sounds nice!!

I love how you have incorporated the appliqué into your quilt. I too am a fan of Norma’s. I took a class from her a few years ago. She is as sweet as her patterns. I too have had a lot of anxiety in my life. I think there was a bit of divine intervention and hearing what you had to say has been so helpful to me. What would we do if we didn’t have our stitching.

Hi Bonnie🙋‍♀️ from North Dakota. I loved every minute of this video. I can relate to so many things you struggle with as we could be twins. Sure, I wish you lived in my neighborhood. We live in a very small town, and my hubby is a farmer who will not retire, but we love it all so much. So quiet and can go outside and listen to the birds and enjoy the quietness. Love all your beautiful quilting, there again we have the same taste. My faith is a top priority in my life. Keep doing what you are doing, my sweet friend. Will be waiting for your next video. ❤🫂🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Chuffed to see you on the tubes again. Do enjoy seeing what you've been up to. We are also currently in the process of preparing our home for sale later in the year but am finding the emotional attachment to it is going to present a challenge when the time comes. I would dearly love to see you take us through your thought process and journey of sorting through and selecting fabrics when your planning and putting together your next quilt project. It's something I struggle with.

Yes, the preparation of a home for sale, packing, saying your goodbyes and starting over in a new home, settling in and getting to know your neighbors was a long and emotional process. That's why I needed to step away from KZbin and put all my energy into the physical and emotional aspects. We are so happy we made the move and even that we are ready emotionally to sell the cabin. That dear cabin holds much more emotional ties then our home did. We remind each other that it is not part of our new story here and it had a very dear place in our lives for a time, but that time is over. I'm making a list of questions and suggestions for future videos and I've already added yours to it. I do find that I have to be in the right mood and have a clear space to be able to put a project together. I'm so glad to have all my sewing room stuff out of storage and have it at hand to play with. It's funny, I don't have a 'color wheel' sense of thinking. It's totally emotional! When I look at colors and textures together I either feel all warm and cozy or it feels off. I do love warm and muddy colors!!

10:10 -- "I'm just going to read this. "Most of my life up 'til now I had never been fully happy, because I'd always wanted to be somewhere else...there is one thing I wish I had realized sooner. It's that too many of us are working harder than we want at things we don't like to do. Why? So as to afford the sort of exisitence we don't care to live." -- Thank you for sharing these profound words of wisdom!

(My name is Angie- my daughter changed our screen name 😁) My story is so similar. We lived in OC, CA- had a cabin in Lake Arrowhead & one day we kind of woke up and made changes (scary!!!) that turned out to be the best ever. We now live in Outer Banks, North Carolina & love it! Nature, small(er) town feel, good old Southern kindness- it’s just been amazing! I’m a quilter & it brings the peace I have always craved. Good for you guys for doing it- scary, but so worth it. Love the channel! I’ll be watching 😊❤

I'm so happy you're back doing videos. Love the way you talk and share your life and are so honest about your struggles. I also deal with anxiety and change. I went through a very long, sad and nasty divorce after 24 years of marriage and sometimes still think about how I thought my life wouId be in my 60's. But God has been so good and i have a lot of peace now. God is everything to me and love to hear about your faith. I love antiques and the whole process of crafting too. I get very emotional about things I've collected with my Dad when he was alive. He loved to go junkin' before it was popular. There are so many memories attached to everything i have that remind me of great adventures with my Mom , Dad and best friend that are no longer with me. I also love everything to do with whatever craft I'm immersed in too. Needless to say I have a lot of "everything". Because i like a lot of different crafts. I used to paint on wood and fabric, embroidery, cross stitch, jewelry making, stamping cards, knitting, but it all started with sewing clothes and quilting. My earliest memories are of standing by my Grandmother at her sewing machine while she made my skipper doll some clothes. But i was absolutely fascinated by her quilting and couldn't wait till i.could one day make quilts. All of the thinds that go with each craft ad to the experience and enjoyment of the process for me. I also have fabric and projects from 20 years ago or more that i still love. I don't care if its old. If i loved it then i love it still. And i like to change some things to make it more me. Dont change. We love you just the way you are

Oh, Ella! I'm so glad I could be an encouragement to you today! I see that as my biggest reason to do these videos. Life can be challenging, can't it!!?? God is amazing and He puts special people in our lives to help us keep moving forward in the midst of the mess. It happened to me yesterday. Someone who was struggling with one of the same things I'm struggling with connected with me and we were able to encourage each other as well as cry together. Yes, Jesus has plans for us and they are for our good and only He can bring that to pass!!

Bonnie, so glad you went and spent some time at your cabin before it sells and with all your friends at the guild in California. Your quilts are sooooo beautiful you are a master quilter beautiful stuff your choice of color I so good and I agree with you scrappy quilts are the best. I’m just learning to do needle turn appliqué I watch tons of videos on different techniques and finally ran across one that would be fast and easier for me. I had 12 14X14 inch square and I appliquéd those then added a small border to those squares then I added a larger border to add more appliqué but you just gave me an idea to quilt the border with a heavy thread weight and add just some appliqué on the quilting stitching. One question my friend what size needle do you use for quilting on 12 weight thread for quilting. Please talk about your favorite needles for quilting because I am clueless on quilting but I’m learning my appliqué turned out beautiful if I say so myself for my first quilt. I am learning so much from KZbin. Love all your beautiful boxes. Oh and I purchased the New morning mercies devotional you recommended in your last video and I love it thanks for that.

Oh Bonnie….. So much to share. While you were gone, there were several times I thought of you and hoped you were happy and well. Other times I felt the need to pray for you. I lifted you and husband in prayer knowing God knew just what we need when we need it. So a year ago April , I lost my eldest daughter Jenn. She was 41 years old when she passed. It has been almost more than I could bare. If it wasn’t for Jesus, I would not have endured. Jenn had become such an important aspect of my stitching. In more ways than I even realized. I am just now being brave and re- entering my quilt room. I lost all Joy quilting and stitching brought me. I am proud of me for Making myself go in there lol. I talk to her and I talk to God all of the time. She adores your videos and your work and my attempts of working with felt. ( the felt you sent me 😊) I felt the need to tell you all this because I felt the need to reach out to you and ask you to pray with me. Know the impact And importance you bring. Needless to say I am so glad you’re back I have enjoyed your video return Lots of love and prayer Bonnie love you. Your sister in Christ. Kathy

I'm also in a very chaotic point in my life, about to move to another not so perfect home, but quiet and in the country. I have also experienced South Carolina, California, Arizona and now back east again and I understand the bittersweet of missing an area that holds fond memories. Life is hard, but a storm never lasts, there's always blue skies that follow. 😊

Paula, thank you for your kind words of encouragement!!! I hadn't wanted to get into the Featherweights since I already had my share of hobbies, but I just love them and it's fun to have a group of friends to share the same interest in here in our new community. I just realized this morning that my walking foot that I got from The Featherweight shop was the problem with my wavy borders. I hadn't taken the time to watch one of their videos and now I realize I should be using the largest stitch length. Have you used a walking foot on your Featherweights and have you had any trouble?

Yes, just be you. Wow, I take an hour to really wake up too and during that time I just need quiet time. Love your old stuff. Thank you for sharing the magnet link. Also thank you for the flosstube. I hate the sayings, “You can do it.” “Or you’ve got this.” Why do people want to put that much pressure on me when I know I can’t do it but I do know that I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me! I’d never want it any other way.

Thank you for sharing the information about quilting. Your quilts are beautiful. Thank you also for the devotional. I’m reading the Old Testament this year, two chapters a day. “There is none like the God of Israel, who rides the heavens to your help, and through the skies in His majesty. The eternal God is a dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” Deuteronomy 33:26-27. Blessings to you, dear sister as you learn to trust Him more. He loves us more than we realize.

Mary, I'm so VERY glad you shared your thoughts with me. So much of social media is forced and artificial. I like to watch those who are authentic, natural and positive. That's what I want to share with my stitching family and I appreciate that I can inspire you to do the same. We have so many things that we NEED to do...this part of my life helps me restore and refresh so I can do those needful things....but we gotta stitch what we like!!

Wonderful to see you again! Love, love your quilts! I feel the same about many things you love! I have always loved anything wood, and the darker prim colors. I recently got a featherweight to, Clara, bought on an online auction, she's a beauty and was so happy to get it, but with things I can't control at the moment I have not yet started sewing seriously with it but the opportunity is close. I have been helping a friend with dementia and I think she is finally settled in a wonderful assisted living and she tells me all the time she loves it there! So I will soon have available time to get started and it would be wonderful if you did a video on them! I like and have wooden boxes and carriers you were showing, it's so much fun to see you light up talking about how you are going to finish them! I get inspired to get up and do something just listening to you, so Thank You for doing these videos!

I just ordered the We Like it Wild book. In 2015, my husband and I moved from the Twin Cities to northern MN. We live in a 100 sq ft home on a lake surrounded by old growth pine and cedar trees. We have the quiet, except for loons and other waterfowl. On an almost daily basis we see otters, eagles, etc. I could never go back to the rat race of city life. We live about 90 miles from the Canadian border truly in Gods Country. I love your videos since you shave the same aesthetic including a passion for estate sales, thrift stores and repurposing old things. I have a featherweight and a Singer 301 which is the big sister to a featherweight. My aunt taught me how to quilt when I was 15. She was my aunt by marriage, but I was closer to them then my own parents. She came from a family of 18 children but never wanted any of her own. But, I ended up being their surrogate daughter. My aunt started decking with Alzheimer’s in 2016. By 2019 I had to move her to memory care and she died in 2022. I inherited a house in Oregon full of antiques. So I had to hold an estate sale and sell the house. It was bittersweet, but her quilting group helped me out. They meet in a one room schoolhouse in Hugo, OR. I too inherited all her quilting stencils so you mention of your moms stencils brought back memories. She always wrote her name, June, on them so every time I use them it’s like she is talking to me. Sorry for the long comment, but you really touched my heart today and I so appreciate your videos. I know if we lived close by, we would have a lot of fun together. Take care!

I also love to cross stitch. I am working on Teresa Kogut’s Serenity chart. What was I thinking? lol. What a gorgeous quilt Blackbird design. You are so creative. Gives me so many ideas. I have thought of doing some tea dyeing but there are so many ways to do it. What method do you do? Thank you for sharing what you are getting from Louis Giglio’s book and the sermon. You do have a way with words and condensing and refining the truth of God’s word. Your light shines brightly❤️

I haven't been on Instagram for a long time, but if we stay connected in these comments, I would love that!! I started getting everything ready to do the applique and I'll share my progress on my next video. For smalls, try rolling them up and store in a crock or basket. I lay quilts on a bed we don’t use and put a bedspread over them to cover. I also wrap quilts around a pool noodle (cut to fit) and store the noodles under the bed. I have small, antique clothes drying racks and hang smalls on them. Hope these ideas help!

Yay!!! So happy to see you had a new video! You always inspire me and you are perfect the way you are! I love artsy, crafting magazines too and handmade coffee mugs! It’s kind of an addiction! 😉😁 I have tried finding that Nesting pattern by Kathy Schmitz and I cannot find it anywhere. I even reached out to Kathy. I love the primitive look of it. I’m actually getting back into cross stitching after many years away from it. I stumbled onto your Flosstube video while trying to find punch needle videos. Now I’m hooked and I never thought I would cross stitch again! Gosh, has it changed! In the hunting and gathering phase (charts and fabric) and trying to educate myself with Flosstubes. Linen is terrifying but I’m trying! ❤

Lori, I'm so glad you enjoyed my ramblings and chatting about all my fun projects! Sounds like we have alot in common! The Nesting pattern was an older one I had found at a stitching shop, but I'm sure they had had it around for awhile. I bet you've got some fun patterns you could find that have that similar vibe! I think I used Gentle Arts dark chocolate for that stitch. I get it with loving the linen, but being intimidated at first. I have one of my first videos about what I called My Perfect Stitching Set up and I still use it now. Can't stitch linen without it. Hope you stop by again soon!!!

Have you ever used paprika to dye with? We tried to dye some wool yarn. I need to figure out how to make it deeper and darker. It turned out to pale. Do you have any ideas? I thought it would look good on your bags. I bought a 100g csemege faszerpaprika orlemeny at a thrift store with the intent of dying with it. Your show and tell appeared in my view this am. I loved it. I think I'll take my log cabin off the hassock and add applique to it. Oh just another project one step closer to being completed. I enjoyed seeing all the boxes. I have a few from mom and grandma. Mom stored her odds and sods of notions in them. I really like the old tray. The worn spots add such character. Great inspiration, thank you. From AB CA

Hi Rachel!!!! I think you'll love the 80 wt for hand applique. A lady at a retreat suggested it to me when she was the kind of stitching I did. I had been using 50 wt DMC machine thread, which has great colors, as well. But the 80 wt is easier to keep 'invisible' and stitches like butter!!! Maybe you can make a fun stitching box to keep them in!! Glad to hear from you!
