Do leave a comment / feedback below! I made this video because I often encounter people telling me, 'Doc, I'm cutting down on (or avoiding) carbs, that is why I am now taking quinoa' and when I tell them that there is still a significant amount of carbs in quinoa, many would actually be very surprised and would reply me saying, 'I thought quinoa has no carbs! I was told quinoa is protein!' So that is why I made this video is to clear up this misconception about Quinoa - that it is zero or very low in carbohydrates. Quinoa is Not NO Carbs, and May Not even be 'LOW' Carbs depending on how one defines low carb - is the only point I intended to make in this video I would cover other aspects of quinoa, including its Glycemic Index and how it compares with rice and other grains in my other videos on Quinoa. Thanks for dropping by my channel Blessings Doc

The main point is not whether it has carbs or not..it has carbs but the fiber makes it have a lower glycemic index than rice...that is what matters

Quinoa is low carb than rice but it has carbs too if you can't live without rice make sure you have small amount only and have nake sure you have low sugar if you want to eat rice. I already had a stroke mild stroke and only 38 years old my last meal is rice soup that is my last eat of white rice everyone said that I will have a hard time avoiding rice because I am still young but thanks to videos like this I properly lower my A1c to 5.7 not to low but that is okay to my doc he is very happy

Quinoa has less carbs than white rice, but the central point that our Doctor is missing is the higher amount of FIBER that Quinoa has and plays a huge difference in comparison to white rice. Also - and this has been acknowledged by our Doctor - Quinoa has a complete protein, a very important factor in the comparison with white rice.

Doctor, I seen many people and online articles demonizing Keto diet, and saying that we humans need carbohydrates and is an essential macronutrients for the body. Is this true?
@TheHabitsDoctor3 жыл бұрын
Because of my work, I interact with many many people with very strong views of specific diets, some champion keto diet, others whole foods plant based diets and others intermittent fasting. When one approaches the choice of diet for health as a DEBATE instead of a balanced DISCUSSION of all available known information/studies of the diets, it can get very muddy and becomes more unhelpful than helpful. I am personally very mindful and careful about not adding to the confusion. Therefore, I prefer not to discuss specific diets or dietary topics in detail unless it can be done comprehensively, in context and with the necessary caveats explained carefully. So I apologise for not answering your seemingly 'simple' questions about keto and carbohydrates directly and specifically, because answering it with a overly simplistic Yes or No, without giving enough background info, putting it in the right context and with the adequate caveats, may inadvertently cause more confusion, and even more harm than good ....... When I have the time, I might do a more comprehensive video on them. My apologies again for not answering your question specifically and directly. Cheers, The long-winded Doc

It’s not horrible, you just need to know how to prepare it. Personally, I would not want it just plain, like a bowl of rice on its own. Mostly it gets added to things like tossed salads or mixed in to rice dishes the way one can add wild rice, black rice etc.

Quinoa is very high carb, and that's a good thing. The more carbs from whole foods the better. I eat 400-800 grams of carbs a day and very little fat, no more than 10-15% of my caloric intake, and my a1c was 4.6 on my last test. It has never been over 5.2. Too much fat is the cause of insulin resistance, not carbs. The more carbs and the less fat the better.
@Romanlove113 жыл бұрын
Opposite. Carbs is sugar, and sugar is glucose which is tied to insulin. Please cite your sources because no science I’ve ever seen supports what you’re saying. I’m interested if what you’re saying is true, but sounds like total bs
