Jack Frost came AFTER Frosty's Winter Wonderland. So my guess is that Rankin Bass didn't know what to do with the character when they gave him his own special. So they changed him up to be a bland and uninteresting character. Sure, the Jack Frost in Frosty's Winter Wonderland isn't great either, but Jack Frost wasn't anymore interesting than a Disney Prince in a fairytale.
@grantkelly86967 жыл бұрын
Agreed. They could've kept a mischievous aspect to his character. Think about it. They could have a kid playing football with his friends, he's going long, he's running as fast as he can, and as a prank he showers the kid with a very small mountain of snow.

I don’t mind giving the character a romantic interest in a sequel as long (and if only) it can be done right! As long as it can make sense and as long as it connects somehow to the original and as long as the love interest does more than just be a love interest. I know this rarely if at all happens but just my thoughts.

WAIT A MINUTE WAIT A MINUTE. Don't be so quick to judge everything in this movie... I mean you can judge everything else, but I thought this one particular part was clever. In the Song "Winter Wonderland", there are lyrics "In the meadow we can build a snowman, then pretend he is Parson Brown. He'll say: Are you married? We'll say: No man But you can do the job when you're in town ." "Parson Brown" is the term used to talk about a typical priest of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. So they build this snowman and pretend he's a PRIEST WHO CAN MARRY PEOPLE. 'Aint that some shit? I don't believe they made him just to be all willy-nilly with the snowman creation. More as a clever nod to the classic Christmas song.
@waltrz6 жыл бұрын
I think this in particular was one of the things he didn't like. It kinda seems like the entire movie was written around that one line from the song, to me.

Okay, so here’s my theory relating to the point mentioned at 22:43. It’s a little dumb, but I have watched these Christmas specials thousands of times since I was a kid, and I consider myself to be a Rankin Bass expert. Let me explain: So all the characters in the RBCU with snow and ice powers have their own completely different roles in winter. Jack Frost goes around the world with the great winter cloud, where all of the winter winds, snow, and ice come from, and spreads winter weather around the land. Snow Miser, being one of Mother Nature’s sons (and her favorite), chooses where on the world map winter takes place and where the great winter cloud Jack Frost follows goes, although his plans are often thwarted by his stepbrother, Heat Miser (yes, they’re step brothers. Snow briefly mentioned it near the end of the scene where they ask him to make it snow in Southtown, although some people believe it was a mistake in the script). As we can see near the end of Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, we see that the Winter Warlock is in charge of all of the winter weather on Christmas. He ensures Santa that he will provide him on his journey with a cold breeze to boost him on his journey, and snowy weather that will charm and bring joy to children and adults around the world. Snow is seen as a special symbol of Christmas and the holidays. I think over 100 years after the end of SCICTT, but awhile before the events of The Year Without a Santa Claus, the Winter Warlock finally, and sadly passes away, and everyone at the North Pole needs to find someone new to provide all of the winter weather, magic, and charm on Christmas. Santa decides to give this special annual duty to who other than Mother Nature’s high-spirited, winter-loving son, Snow Miser. Everyone at the North Pole admires Snow Miser for his immense passion for snow, ice, and anything ten below, although he can occasionally be very devilish and harsh. This makes Heat Miser jealous because obviously no one wants to have hot weather on Christmas, and his stepbrother is working with one of the world’s most famous idols. Plus, Mother Nature is very proud of Snow for the honor he receives from the North Pole, leaving Heat out of the family. This is why Heat Miser is such a dick and why he and Snow Miser fight all the time. It’s a little sad, when I think about it, but I think it could make a lot of sense in the RBCU. I know this review is old, but I would absolutely love to see Quinton review the spin-off of A Year Without a Santa Claus, A Miser Brothers’ Christmas. It's a guilty pleasure of mine, and it has its own style of charm compared to the original.

I really don't think Rankin-Bass really had much in the way of building 'continuity' among their films. To me, continuity is as flimsy as Michael Bay's "Transformers" films (originally, Megatron came to Earth just seeking the All-spark, but in the sequels, suddenly he was involved with the Fallen, Sentinel Prime, needing Prime and his Matrix, even though Prime didn't possess the Matrix, until after Megatron killed him, and Sam revived hi-you see!?).
@megan87536 жыл бұрын
I was having vague memories of The Legend of Frosty the snowman, and I was wondering if I even ever watched up until the man said, "You are going to be late!" at 28:39. All of my childhood memories came back to me in a huge wave of nostalgia and pain. That voice literally haunted my dreams for so long, but now I understand. I understand that life is a meaningless cesspool of pain and suffering, fueled by awful sequels to classic childhood films.

When I was a kid I had no problem with there being different kids in each Frosty Movie As long as Frosty was there I'd be happy, It's like those Hard Hat Harry VHS Films, You don't really expect the Genie to come back to the previous kids, Frosty is just like the Genie, He's spreading his Christmas Cheer around the world, bringing fun & happiness to everyone he meets, Frosty is more of a Traveler, so to me this isn't a problem. The Giving a Wife to Frosty isn't really an Issue for me, Spreading joy can get pretty lonely when your going around the world, so the Kids bringing a Snow Woman to life to make Frosty Happy is actually pretty Heart warming.
