Arabic: makkah - destruction. This is the only occurrence in the Qur’an of makkah; it is a common noun which, when translated as such makes perfect sense in the context: مكة - from the m-k-k root - means destruction in the same way that نكبة following the same pattern in n-k-b means disaster (I am indebted to Brother Ayman for this point); see, for example, Steingass (p. 1045) who includes to destroy as a value for the verb makka. However, even if the collocation here is claimed to denote a physical location, the city of Petra fits that description as it was located in an enclosed valley and was thus very much belly-like. The city today called Mecca fails to impress on this latter count entirely; it is no secret that many Traditionalist Muslims return from pilgrimage to Mecca confused and disappointed, finding the geography at odds with Qur’anic descriptions. This nuance is something the Traditionalist is keen to hide from the reader with no access to Arabic. He typically inclines to a value here for the Arabic baṭn (belly, womb) which obfuscates for the reader its actual meaning, preferring here values such as valley or midst. Consideration of all instances of this word across the remainder of his translation confirm this point (2:174, 3:35, 4:10, 6:139, 16:66, 16:69, 16:78, 22:20, 23:21, 24:45, 37:66, 37:144, 39:6, 44:45, 48:24, 53:32, 56:53). Greeting to you and Brother Ayman The terms نكبة - ببكة and مكة are being used in the form of the collective noun like army or society, or party or academy because of ة in all above mentioned words. The term Makkah, the Quran does not use for city or any physical location. In Arabic language it has been used in the following meanings Conflict or destruction, or bloodshed. It also implies to chew on hard bones, crowding, to press a debtor for a debt, dry measures, drinking goblet, مك العظم he sucks the marrow bone completely. مك الفصيل ما فى ضرع امه the camel baby sucks all the milk from the udder of his mother. It also stands for to suck all the water, or mob or crowd of people. Therefore, the term Makkah does not stand for any physical place or for Makkah and Petra cities. Moreover, in Arabic aliphatic there is no word “P” therefore the Arabs pronounce the words Pakistan and Pepsi as a Bakistan and Babsi. Therefore, the Quran does not support existing of any Makkah (Islamic name) or Petra (Christian name). Furthermore, there is no value of the physical place or the city, it is the worth of the constitution or system or civilization. It signifies one who deviates from the right destination, or way or disastrous wind or wind that brings no rain Yusuf Ali: And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way. Translation “And verily those who do not agree with this bright peaceful future program وَإِنَّ الَّذينَ لا يُؤمِنونَ بِالآخِرَةِ are deviating from the path of vastness and vision عَنِ الصِّراطِ لَناكِبونَ”. The Quran does not used the Arabic word baṭn بطن for womb. The Quran has used the word raham رحم for womb in the meaning of providing favorable circumstances for the growth and development of the society( like mother or earth wombs). @@Yanbhai693 Makkah مَكَّةَ is a purely Arabic term ,it has nothing to do with Hebrew or Aramac languages .The roots of this word is available in all Arabic lexicons like lane and others The Quranic explanation of the term Makkah مَكَّةَ The term Makkah has been used once in the verse 48:24. The Quran has blasted off all the fairy tales or holiness statues of this city, fabricated by Iranian writers of Hadith, Sunnah and Fiqah. Moreover, the Quran does not support that Mohammad was born in this city, or he received the first revelation in this city. وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى كَفَّ أَيْدِيَهُمْ عَنكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ عَنْهُم بِبَطْنِ مَكَّةَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَنْ أَظْفَرَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرًا”. It is genitive proper noun with roots م-ك-ك meem, kaf and kaf. The term Makkah مَكَّةَ signifies he destroyed him. Please send the reference of the verse in which the Quran has stated that Makkah was build by Ibrahim. Three billion Christians believe Jesus was the son of God. Would you believe it? Similarly, 2.5 billions Muslims believe that Jesus was born with out father( means he was bestarred God for give me). Will you believe it without the reference of the Quranic verses? Just because 3 Billion Christians believe Jesus is the son of God doesn’t mean anything. There are several “sons of God” in your bible… only if you actually studied it. 3. Jesus (pbuh) being born without a father is just another miracle from God. Adam has no father or mother, Melchizedek has no father and mother, even satan has no father or mother (what’s your point?)
