This solo is so awesome it makes my face melt. And I don't normally even listen to this kind of thing.

He must have just ran from a tennis match earlier. the only time that amazing playing can be distracted by short shorts.

Pants were known to throw off the Roland’s tracking. For optimal performance a Speedo is recommended.

I wonder what year and where this was recorded. I’ve been to his concerts in the early 80s like this where he played that guitar

great player, and Id love to try a gr300, but this just sounds too pitchy for me when played that fast..

This is exactly how the soundtrack to shredding waves goes, not some untalented CRAP star pretending to have some musical skills. Pat is one of the many of innovators from the past century who didn't get his justice from the uninformed general public. Guitar players, of course knew, full well who these musical geniuses were and tried to let others hear their music, TELL A FRIEND.

Hm. I feel like certain parts of it are good, but others I just don't get. Like, there isn't enough context, and it seems like a series of very unmusical notes.

Felt this way at first too, but in this case you can really say, if you're into the music a bit you understand the genius of this man and this solo.

This is just bullshit notes. Listen to the outro of "You Only Left Your Picture" for a "best" GR-300 performance.

what an ugly cheap sound, come on be honest, this sounds very 80's cheap.. the playing on itself is okay, but yuk sounds

+Phazur indulgent crap, oh and he's overrated as a jazz guitarist. this is so gimmicky and yet he has the gall to dismiss many great prog guitarists. he wasn't so vain about his fucking hair maybe he could amount to something. this is onions to the eyes of many greats; wes, benson, burrell, hall. ranglin, etc. robert fripp is far more interesting than this ass clown.

@@aaf-ccexecutivedirector9876 I see you have very little insight into modal improvisation, most prog guitarists are less interesting and deep harmonically speaking then fusion players, although people like Allan Holdsworth which is among the most highly regarded guitarists in fusion also played in several progressive bands, I always preferred the crossover between fusion and Progressive music, and if you actually dig into Pat Metheny's stuff, his works are fairly progressive, but he operated on a higher technical level and inherited a higher comprehension of music theory then 99% of all prog guitar players. Also there is nothing cheap about this, the Gr-300 is a great sounding analogue guitar synthesizer, warm sound. I am a fan of Robert Fripp, but as a improvisor he does not get close to Pat. Not his fault that its over your heads.

@@aaf-ccexecutivedirector9876 where’s your source on how he dismisses other guitarists? Haven’t heard that before.
