Just a few weeks ago, on our bi-yearly trip to and from Pendelton from Southern California. Just as we had passed the Inspection Station, we saw the train. Taking a few photos and a short video with my cell phone. Looked up the GOOS and discovered the colorful history. Now finding these two Videos. Thank you for Sharing these.

Thank you for the two films you made concerning the NCO railroad. I grew up on ranchs 3 miles south of Davis Creek and 6 miles (SugarHill) north of Davis Creek. I went to and graduated from the one room school house of 8 grades and my mother (Davis Creek Elementary) was the teacher. Speaking of the railroad I recall in 1955 winter when the snow was so deep and with high drifts the train took 3 days behind our southern ranch to clear the tracks with a steam engine I believe. One other memory: when I arrived in Alturas July 4, 1947, it was so hot and we stayed for a couple of weeks in an apartment upstairs in the old NCO train station . Anyway, thank you again for the films you prepared. Victor 😇💃

You are very welcome. Thank you also for sharing part of you life story. I enjoyed getting to read of the years past and image what it must have been like. Stories like your own are part of what inspires myself to create these films.

Truly a wonderful two part series on this interesting overlooked shortline! Videos like these allow for others to expand their knowledge on the already expansive U.S. rail network, showcasing how even the most remote of shortlines play a role in economies, and entice others to take a shot at documenting such operations. Definitely learned a lot from this series, so kudos to you!

Well that is it isn't it. I try to cover lines that do not get much coverage so other can see what is out there and how these lines imapct the regions they are in. I am glad you took the time to watch and left having learned some new stuff. That is partly why I do these.

Yes and No. The facility struggled financially part way through the project and work stalled till more funds could be found. The facility is now finished but Red Rock is looking to sell the refinery off. Due to the Federal grants given to the project the plant had to be completed and could only be sold as a turn-key project or Red Rock would have to pay back all the grant money. So hopefully a buyer is found.

Have you considered doing an episode on the Oregon Eastern Railroad? really neat little operation with a unique history. It would also be super close to the INPR's Idaho operations, another neat operation with a unique history.
@SIDETRACKEDCHANNEL Жыл бұрын
Indeed. There are plans to cover them both. The grand scheme is to cover every shortline in Oregon at least.
