I hate McAfee. They don’t have any option to cancel their emails warning you that your subscription is almost over. They claim it’s important updates, but it’s clearly marketing. I have never even bought a subscription to them.

not only that, removing it from your system is hell. It often doesn't even have an uninstaller, or it gets magically corrupted. There's also a ton of leftover registry keys that have to be removed manually.

Oh GOD! Canceling with Retro Fittness! I had to do the same thing with the two other fittness places I was a member with as well. Canon is currently facing a class action lawsuit, just so you know. The issue is that their multifunction printers (Scanner/Fax/Print) won't let you use the scanner if ink needs to be replaced. That's right, Canon won't let you use the scanner if the printer is out of ink

Here's the thing about about ordering flowers and getting the $20 "service fee". It's not actually a florist, it's a middle man that takes most of the money you are paying to get those flowers and then shorts the local florist that will fulfill the order. What they are doing is exactly what pay-to-win means. Very rarely does pay-to-win mean literally paying to win the game, as that wouldn't bring in as many customers and wouldn't get people hooked. It means to design a game in such a way that people who pay get a distinct advantage as a paying player rather then a free player. If they are rewarded for paying in ways that allow them to become stronger faster then everyone else, then that gives them a distinct advantage, thus a pay-to-win game.

My dad’s health insurance was over charging him by marking my mom as a smoker when she is not and tried fixing it, but they changed it back and he got so fed up with them, and being able to properly cancel their ‘service’, he went to the bank and had them stop the insurance company from taking his money from his account and probably would have done harm to the insurance company people if he could have gotten his hands on them. Ha had a similar experience with some mechanics after they screwed him over for at least five grand and he posted some very poor reviews on them detailing his experiences. But yeah, nearly everyone is trying to screw everybody else out of their money.

What's really stupid is that Android (maybe Apple too, I don't know) combines way too much into "make and manage phone calls". You need that to be allowed to know when a call comes in so you can automatically pause. So even if the game doesn't intend to abuse it, it still has to ask for it. Another fun one is, you need location access to scan for Bluetooth devices. This one at least has some logic to it - you might be able to infer someone's location by the devices you see. But there are far better solutions...

Gotta agree with that, to be honest. A carefully constructed package to both give reason to the deception as well as give a good reason to not really be able to avoid covering it. I mean, assuming there's info on the box saying its in two portions, what is someone gonna have a problem with legally? Force them to have a weird gap that looks shit to show off the split? Force a window that extends the whole way across and looks even weirder? Such a package could logically only really be covered in a way that conceals that there's two separate parts.

I'd prefer that design tbh. Half the time I will use half the paté, then when I go back to it there's annoying crusty bits on the rest (no matter how swaddled in cling film, I cannot match vacuum sealing). Two portions that I can open separately would be much more convenient. Plus, who doesn't slide things out of their cardboard sheaths before buying?

10:33 as an android user (Galaxy Note 9 specifically), I see an ad MAYBE once a month at most, and these ads are for things like themes, backgrounds, etc so they've never really bothered me. What bothers me is that my aunt let like 6 ads and over 30 different app notifications and a software update build up to the point you actually had to SCROLL to sift through them. I don't know how she lives like that, but that's on her.

FYI the Huawei ad part only appears when you click the "top apps" folder. It suggests top apps based on idk where. It's a logical feature and personally does not add to asholedesigns.

0:46 Google Play doesn't allow apps to use misleading elements in their logos (e.g. fake notification badge). So if you report the app, Google will force them to replace it. I assume Apple has a similar requirement for the same reason.
