For 1985 ahead of their time and not a Possessed ripoff (usual at the time) if you pay attention to the details. The next similar work I can think of are the mighty Pestilence demos '87+ for the style. Like most talented bands they probably didn't pay much attention to increase their popularity but they progressed musically. The bass work is phenomenal, you can hear Patterson hammering like there's no tomorrow.
