The whole cancer killing cancer thing is actually one of the hypotheses for the cancer paradox. Example: I taught him "Where do we go?" when he was a few months old as the command to go into his crate. Five years later and he still refuses to do it unless you show him you have treats. Oh, he also refuses to go potty without a human outside with him, which was not the intention when I potty-trained him; like, he will literally hold it in for hours while we're gone, only to go when we go outside to get him. Oh, and I've previously trained two separate dogs fully so I do have experience.

That is just scarily EVIL and....no. Just no. The more I learn about how baby formula has had horrible scandals and/or been insanely expensive over the years, the more I realise how INSANELY LUCKY I am to be as old as I am, so that I was a baby in the years that I was. Formula was affordable by working-class women like my mom and the brand she was using, at least, was NOT tainted with asbestos or melanine. For two examples. "wHy NoT jUsT fEeD yOuR bAbY rEaL mIlK?" Dude SOME BABIES HAVE MILK ALLERGIES. FFS. In some cases, formula is not a luxury "option". It's a NECESSITY.
@War4509 ай бұрын
Uh... my guy? That isn't even remotely close to why it's behind a glass case and literally nobody 'looks down' on baby formula as 99.9% of the population uses it. It's behind glass cases because people steal it, rampantly. Not 'poor desperate single moms just trying to feed their babies!" either. Most of the theft isn't done by poor single moms. But it's one of the most stolen items in big box stores. THAT is why you need an associate to get it, to prevent theft. Stop stealing it, and stop defending theft, and it wouldn't be in a glass case. I swear it's astonishing the mental gymnastics people like you will go through to paint a 'woman = victim' narrative.

11:58 We didn't get a prize as cool as Chuck e cheese for doing a lot of accelerated reading tests. Instead, the winner got a plastic trophy, while second and third place got ribbons. When I was in 5th grade, I read all the Goosebumps, Animorphs and similar books that were in the library at the time, but got second place because a 6th grade girl did all the Clifford tests (which were still worth like 10 points each despite being brain-dead easy) just so she could beat me by one point. Third place has less than half my amount of points. When I was in _6th_ grade, I did all the Harry Potter books at the time, Eragon and Eldest, and every book I could find that was worth *_twenty_* points. I won the contest by setting a new school record of over 900 points. The previous year, where I'd gotten second place, I'd only had _300._ My record technically still stands, though my school has to drop the accelerated reading program in 2010, so it's not that they can't do so, but they won't be able to. The bits about HOA's reminded me of a story about how I got revenge on my mom's HOA before she moved for being controlling petty a holes: I have quite the interest in gardening and have my own mini jungle of a garden over at my house. this means I have access to large numbers of baby plants, specifically bamboo which if you know anything about it it spreads like nothing you've ever seen before and is very hard to kill completely. I may or may not have stuck bamboo shoots in just about every spot in the neighborhood I could find and even cut up the smaller or damaged shoots and sprinkled them around for the rhizomes to take root. Haven't been back to the area since she moved but I'd wager the bamboo is probably still there and if they actually got rid of it it most likely cost a decent amount also the fact that bamboo is notorious for growing under and damaging fences. was it petty and a bit overkill, yes but hell did those guys deserve it.

As someone who's worked in retail, with the baby formula thing and how expensive it is (some being an upwards of $52), more often than not, someone would steal it only to go into another store or have the audacity to bring it back to the store they stole it from for a cash refund only to get pissed when offered a store gift card. I've watched repeat offenders who loss prevention had been tracking for weeks to try to catch in the act at the front desk have absolute melt downs because they were told cash refunds weren't allowed on certain items due to the uptick of no-receipt returns for that time when a recall hasn't been issued. They got pissed even further when our store stopped accepting baby formula as a return item, rarely only accepting when the customer had a legit receipt. I don't know how the front desk people can handle this crap as the people returning the items get pretty aggressive when told no. If the formula doesn't come back for a return, it's often put up for sale elsewhere at a higher price. We had someone steal a crap ton of baby stuff one morning only to find it being sold it on the community Facebook page that night. We only had that information because one of our cashiers knew the woman and that she didn't have a baby. Seems quite common as well. Two years ago, it was so bad that they had to put lock boxes on the formula aisle, as well as several other high return items due to the theft and now it hinders those who steal it because they need it. Working in retail has taught me that items like this is not being stolen for what you'd think they're being stolen for and people are ready to screw you over that way with a sob story. They're being stolen solely to be returned for cash to do who knows what with. The amount of people who say they would turn a blind eye to someone stealing formula and run interference for the person with a predetermined notion is part of the reason why the item is now locked up and not available unless an employee unlocks it so you pretty much helped screw over the needy. Ya'll are played for patsies. Half the time if it's food or clothes someone needs, the managers at my store let it slide but if it becomes a problem like the formula ring that hit every store in the area back then looking for money, they'll shut it down.

For somewhat complicated reasons Death has to assume the persona of the Hogfather (Discworld Santa) in order to keep belief in the Hogfather alive so that the dude doesn't basically die while Death's granddaughter Susan works to try and reverse what is making belief in the Hogfather fade. And for context of the part shown in the vid he's at a mall fulfilling kids' wishes and when he asks this little girl what she wants for Hogwash (Discworld Christmas) her mother tries to answer for her but he freezes the mother in order to give the kid the chance to answer on her own and she asks for a motherf*cking sword!! That kid is not interested in girly things at all but her mother was definitely going to say she wanted a dollhouse or something! Death is a fricking MVP in the Discworld series!

So for context on the story from great bear BC, the reason for buying hunting rights is to protect a specific breed of black bear, known as a kermode bear, or spirit bear, these are blonde almost white bears that are very VERY rare and considered sacred to indigenous peoples of the area. Long story short, there was an event where an out of country hunter had shot a kermode bear, because of this, and because of the difficulty in creating and zoning conservation areas that large, the great besr conservation bought up the lands huntjng rights to ensure the bears are protected. Hunting can still happen on the land, but with them being the owners it means a person must get permission from the conservation, which cqn include having a member of the conservation accompanying them on the hunt to ensure the bears safety. Truly chaotic good, as the conservation group understood that many in that area need to hunt to supply food for months, and found a way to allow it while also ensuring rare and beautiful bears are protected from accidents and/or poachers.

13:37 NO SPEED BUMPS! They increase maintenance costs on vehicles, slow down emergency vehicles, and are just the cheapest and laziest form of speed controls. They're also potentially destructive to older/lower/higher mileage cars. This coming from someone who lives in a trailer park with one at the only entrance....and after seeing that same bump at 10mph several times a day every day for months, it did the final blow on my rear lateral arm, rendering my only car incapacitated until I can find income. Speed cameras are horrible but bumps are no better, and maybe worse.

7:35 - Got that straight. I had my cousin and aunt down as my references and only ONCE did one of them get called, that being my aunt because her position was with BAE Systems sounded more important than a manager at Pizza Hut. And then, they didnt even talk about me for their whole conversation because it turned out that the person that called her, who also hired me, was an old high school friend and didnt recognize her married name, but immediately recognized her by her voice. Your references dont need to be for a past company, they can be relatives and/or friends, just make sure you ask before placing them down on your resume and make sure they have an actual job with a title and you can get away with quite a bit. More so when you can tell if they get called up or not by the perspective job you are applying for.

I'm good with most of these but the speed-camera vandalism troubles me. Speed limits, when used appropriately, are to ensure the safety of the drivers and those near them. I'm not convinced that these vandalisms are 100% in places where the limits have been applied inappropriately. Though you're kinda right about the speed bumps: Using architecture to reduce the psychological speed of the road is always more effective than signs or radar enforcement.

This happened in Italy a while ago. I was talking to my dad about being sad for people who steal because they have to. Also I'm a big "respect the law to the max" kind of girl. But my dad told me about the time where he heard a heartwarming story about this on the news. Basically police were called on someone stealing. The police arrived and they managed to raise enough money to pay for the person's food out of pocket because they noticed they were poor. I've actually witnessed people steal three times in my life. And all of them were not very clearly poor. As a neurodivergent idiot I've had those thoughts. Like what if I did this or that? But my "law abiding citizen who's afraid of confrontation let alone a cop" wouldn't let me steal even to try and get away with it to see what would happen.
