Yeah! Like I take $10 a week out of every paycheck every year and send it directly to 211 through my job (a center here that helps the homeless and needy by providing a simple phone number to get info on shelters and food banks and other helpful info for anyone, any age, any situation. They also help with resources to get off drugs and alc) and it always comes up to a substantial enough amount for them to use and appreciate it. My workplace does this for me and bc my workplace is nonprofit it's done in our names individually and they send thank you letters for large amounts :) it's an awesome opportunity i wouldn't have otherwise. I'm glad I read the little slips in the info stands! 211 helped me out a lot once so I'm more than glad to help them ☺️

This just isn't true. It's a common misunderstanding, though. If they are just collecting donations it is your deduction. They get some social karma and the charity is happy to have the visibility. They could only (maybe) claim anything they matched or a portion of sales they gave. That's why sales tax isn't revenue. They collect it and remit it to the proper local/county/state offices.
