REM remind of ATHLETICS LONDON Not only remind me, they take me back to all those TRACKS! The sights, the smells of deep heat, the nervousness before races. I’m actually back there. ALL their TRACKS bring back those athletic TRACKS. The lines “When I was young and full of grace and spirited a rattlesnake, when I was young and fever fell, my spirit I will not tell you’re on your honour.” It takes me right back! At athletics and cross country, not football, rugby or cricket (sports I liked but was average at). At track and field and cross country the lyrics of this song perfect, the only time I was full of grace and spirited, even when feeling ill with fever at track and field London I was full of grace and spirited as a rattle snake! At school in lessons, at break I could be a pain in the arse. Bruce Springsteen said, “in his line of work you HAD to hate school, it’s rock star101, if you don’t go back to your day job.” At athletics I’d listen to REM in the coach, only REM their WHOLE back catalogue it was the soundTRACK to every meet. Near wild heaven, shiny happy people. LOSING MY RELIGION was THE PERFECT track! Sunday’s was track and field London day. I had to sacrifice church for track meets all over London, Essex, Middlesex , and Kent!
