I was born with my heart condition and by my adult age, my condition was so bad that my heart was in the final stages of failure meaning I was extremely weak walking around the grocery store was a chore, and walking into my college was so difficult I got handicap passes. I had a transplant 1 + plus ago and am now perfectly healthy but the lady with the arm story gives me major flashbacks to all the a**holes that pulled that sh*t on me because I'm like in my early 20's and a heart defect isn't visible. The number of times I had to deal with entitled people who thought that their two bags of books or art projects were more valid reasons to have my handicap spot is ridiculous. Seriously what happened to basic common decency.

When I was a kid, our neighbor was this really sweet man, his wife, EM, and their kid, EK. I had two sisters, and out of them, I was the lonely, lively one who never got along with the two others; I got along with EM and EK pretty well, and they both liked me a lot. EK got very annoying very fast, demanding I gave him my toys (which was a single hulla hoop as both my sisters kept the other ones for themselves) and crying if I didn't. One time, I was alone in our shared garden (yes, that is a thing; both our houses had a door leading to a garden our house separated in two with a palisade.), My sisters playing in front of the house and my parents working. EK demands that I lend him my toy, I refuse, and we go back and forth pointlessly until his mom comes over. She starts shouting at me, and ever so calmly I gave her a piece of my nine-year-old mind. I go back home, lock the door behind me, toy still in hands, and feel satisfied- and she's still utterly baffled in the garden. Later that day, mom comes to see me, since she works from home and ate lunch in the garden, letting dad take care of feeding us all, where EM was lurking to wait for me to come out again. Mom started by scolding me about being mean to adults, making sure the neighbor could hear through the open window, then she took me to the kitchen, gave me chocolate, told me to keep it a secret from my sisters and praised me for ruining the bitch's day. Needless to say, that was a good day.

I mean most divorces aren’t like the one in the story, and most of the time you can’t predict that in 20 yrs ur going to hate each other So honestly, that dad in the story did everything he could’ve, and if u ever play that role, just know that it rly wasn’t ur fault (-from a kid who’s parents divorced after 25 yrs and 2 kids, lots of love)
@ThePinkRubber
@ThePinkRubber 4 жыл бұрын
@@nicholaspeters9919 well, my mum got married to a man that she didn't know at all. My mum was getting her name put in a newspaper looking for date by her friends as a joke because she broke off with her boyfriend because her dad didn't agree with him as her boyfriend was a cop. Not long after, a man from different island, about hundreds kilometer away, suddenly pop out in front of her house, saying that he want to propose her. They went on an hour interview, and i don't know why, my mom and her parents agreed. Mind you, he was no one back then, no job, not a handsome guy, very skinny, and look just like ordinary lower class person. He went back to his hometown, with no way of communication at all, a week later, he came back and set everything ready. They finally married a day after, and they are still together for more than 30 years. I thought this was bs, but every single relatives of mine always told the same. In the end, i just want to say that yes, you wouldn't know what will happen in the next 20 years, but that doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing

Wow, that second one really hit home for me. It's very similar to how my life has played out. I was about 10 or 11 when I was signed out from school from my crazy mother (who was doing drugs at the time) and driven 2 states over. I stupidly believed everything she told me about my father, who is the best dad I could ask for. I didn't see my father for over 3 months before he finally won me and my siblings back through court. But the most memorable times in those months without my father was the countless sleepless nights I had, crying into my pillow, thinking why I couldn't see my dad again. That's a really short summary, didn't really explain anything too much, but I didn't want to write a whole novel. Anyways, thanks if you read this.

As someone who worked in deaf telephone relay, I can confirm that horrible hearing families affect 50% of deaf people. Deaf people with nice families tend to be horrible themselves. This is because 99% of deaf people now use video relay, and the only ones still using my format are either too stubborn to switch or their families don't care. Work in relay long enough, and you'll turn into a misanthrope.

I felt this story so hard. My birthgiver brought my dad up on parental kidnapping charges because my brother and I DECIDED we wanted to live with him rather than her, and she just wouldn't accept it. He had to fly us back to where she lived (we were visiting him for the summer, 1996). Three years later, we were older, made the same decision, and the courts sided with us. She and I have been NC for nearly a decade, ultimately for other reasons.

That story about the crazy mother from the divorce hit home in a way I never thought a Reddit post could. I have a very similar thing going on in my life right now. This is what I also posted on Reddit a while ago: My mother and father have been divcored since I was very young, but what was good was that I got to visit both houses regularly, half of the week at mom’s house and half of the week at my dad’s house. They were given explicit rules not to talk poorly about each other around me, but my mother didn’t care about that rule. Almost every day she would say something bad about my father, be it a small comment like his hair, or something huge like an argument that happened ages ago. She commonly did this so she could get me to grow resentment towards him. This didn’t work as after all this time, I think he is better than mom. My father has had major anger issues for a long time now. But he soon realized that his anger issues were causing me to become distant with him. So he has started being more understanding and calm in arguments, while also being willing to listen to reason. This was the key thing that made my parents different. My mother has been caught drinking several times by several people, including cops. And now she has started taking “action” by going to therapy and stopping her drinking habits. This I don’t really believe as she has stated several times before that she stopped drinking when she clearly hasn’t. Just a few days ago, I came home from a half a week with my father, and saw a bottle of alcohol in the freezer. At this time my uncle was living with me and mom, but he hasn’t been home for around a week and a half. She clearly was lying when she stated “it’s your uncle’s bottle.” So this led me to believe that she has been secretly drinking behind my back. Also, at this time my mother has gotten into petty argument after petty argument with me every night, whether it be staying up late or even having any lights on at all. My father and others would later say that it was a common tactic by her to get me to raise my voice to make myself seem like the bad guy to the neighbors that could hear us. She would constantly push my buttons to get a reaction, and I tried everything; not stooping to her level (she ended up saying stuff loudly that made me seem like the bad guy) trying to be reasonable (won’t listen to reason) or even flat out ignoring her (she would threaten to get rid of my valuables). This has been going on for so long now and I’m afraid what she would do if I were to leave her to stay at my dad’s house for longer times in a week, I think she might attempt either sui*ide or selling everything I didn’t take with me.

I feel the person in the first story. My family did not want me either. I came home one day, and my dad was dancing around, waving a fistful of cash in the air, shouting "Hey, look what I got for you!!!". I was feeling very happy at first, as I have never gotten anything before that!! In my head I started imagining all the cool things I could buy, but then I decided to show them what sharing was really all about. I decided that I would use the money, to buy each one of them a gift. This thought gave me a really nice, warm and fuzzy feeling inside!! That feeling faded quickly though, when he explained the money wasn't for me. Turns out he sold me.

What the one armed mom is doing is amazing by teaching youth about the dangers of playing near the train tracks. Back when I was in High School (about 5 years ago), one of our classmates was killed a few years ago because he got hit by a train. "Y'know, like a liar." John Mulaney: "And I said no. Y'know, like a liar." "It was a lie, to get drugs. Y'know, like a crime."

I know someone who worked as an elementary teacher's aide for decades . She told me the biggest security issue they used to have to worry about was non-custodial parents trying to kidnap the students (that and one teacher's stalker coming to the school--scary). These days, sadly, that is no longer the big security issue on their minds...

My mom is a burn survivor, when my brother was 13 his scout group thought throwing bug spray in thier campfire was a good idea. My mom took it upon herself to share her story in extreme detail pictures and all with the group. They didn't have campfires for a few years after, and when they did and this happened yet again (kid wasn't part of the group she shared her story with) the ended up burning one of the 12 year olds thankfully not to bad, mom found every picture she had from the hospital and every surgery and than brought the group to a burn ward so they could see first hand how bad it can be. They haven't had any fire issues since and hopefully it stays that way
