My fiance's mom is named Karen and she thinks the stereotype is *hilarious* She recently made her profile picture a meme about Karens and no less than 6 women commented on it saying it was offensive and 5 of them unfriended her because she wouldn't take it down. One of them accused her of targeting her specifically and my fiance's mom was like "your name's Kathy and we haven't spoken in 5 years. But if the shoe fits😘" God, I love that woman

Living in a household with a Karen has taught me one thing; They feed off of arguing with us. It makes them stronger. If you encounter a Karen in the wild it's best to avoid eye contact as to prevent being attacked. If you accidently made eye contact the Karen will spray a pheromone at you. Point in a direction behind the Karen and yell "LOOK! A MANAGER!" and quickly run away. Don't be fooled though! If you think you've escaped them the pheromone will eventually attract more Karens to your general direction. You should not return to your home immediately or else it will become their target. As a safety precaution turn on your 5G on your smartphone, wear a mask that says "I am vaccinated" and always, ALWAYS keep your eyes open. The wild supermarket is a treacherous place. We pray for your safety.

@@FFKonoko yeah pretty much lol. I live in South Asia fyi. My parents have never once brought up the topic. We're taught sex ed roughly at school at around the age of 13, and then again with more depth at the age of 16. Sex ed isn't at all necessary before the age of 18 here because you aren't allowed that much freedom compared to more Western countries, so we don't really have relationships that early. That's also influenced by the fact that having relationships early on is kinda frowned upon. Well, it's not that we aren't completely restricted when it comes to having relationships, teens just don't have an interest in doing so (cultural things which I can't elaborate). And usually here, you'd go looking for a partner after you've started working, which is at the very least after 19 years of age. So yeah, cultures play a huge role too, and cultures can differ from one another vastly.

@@idrawcats8898 I respectfully disagree. You seem to underestimate the influence of a person's culture on them. I hail from a multicultural and multi ethnic country in South Asia, and I get to see that difference kinds of influences each person's culture has on them, how they act in a given circumstance, how they make decisions and how their culture affects their moral compass and courteousness. And of course, perception and interpretation of sex changes too.

Thank you for this cool space fact! I have another cool fact to add to this: Did you know our solar system potentially has a primordial black hole in it? It’s only a possibility, but the idea is still there! Because scientists don’t know what Planet 9 is, there are many theories about it. One of the theories is that it is a primordial black hole! Primordial black holes are basically extremely weak black holes that formed during the Big Bang. This theory would explain why we’ve never been able to see Planet 9, because black holes are invisible. Before anyone gets worried, we wouldn’t be in any danger if this theory was true. Primordial black holes are extremely weak to the point where if there was one in our solar system, we would never be affected by it.

One thing to point out is that what’s “too much” can vary from person to person. For most, 3-4 lbs. (or more) of candy a week is way too much. For someone severely hypoglycemic, like me, it’s actually necessary. I don’t gain weight from high sugar consumption or get sick from it because my body burns through it at an accelerated rate. If I don’t eat that much, I get very messed up because my blood sugar will bottom out hard. Some people don’t realize the opposite of diabetic is a thing and it’s just as dangerous.
@Acidfunkish
@Acidfunkish 2 жыл бұрын
Hypoglycemia means that you react to sugars more quickly and more severely than most people. Someone who has hypoglycemia reacts really poorly to eating sugar, alone. Unlike most people, it will cause your blood sugar to peak and then spike way back down, which can cause you to black out. People with hypoglycemia do better by reducing the amount of refined sugars and starches they eat. If you just don't eat refined sugars, you can probably even fast for decent amounts of time, without any peaks or valleys in your blood sugar. But if you eat sugar or simple carbs and then try to fast, you will likely pass out. I'd visit your doctor for a clarification, because hypoglycemia is not what you think it is.
@hollyhartwick3832
@hollyhartwick3832 2 жыл бұрын
@@Acidfunkish - I’m not sure what you think you’re correcting. Are you claiming to be a doctor? I’m sugar dependent and frequently get low blood sugar when I don’t have it. Hypo=low. Glycemia=blood glucose. My pancreas produces too much insulin. If you say it’s not hypoglycemia, then what do you think it is, doc?
@Acidfunkish
@Acidfunkish 2 жыл бұрын
@@hollyhartwick3832 Doctors recommend people with hypoglycemia eat fewer simple carbs. If you eat things like candy, you release too much insulin, and your blood sugar spikes and then drops within like 15-20 minutes. That's how you're diagnosed. Then you're told to AVOID simple carbs, and especially sugar, because they are what cause spikes and dips. You are NOT supposed to be eating a lot of candy, as someone with hypoglycemia. You're supposed to AVOID simple carbs, as much as possible, or - at the very least - eat them with things containing fibre and fat, for slower-releasing energy. You're currently setting yourself up for diabetes.
@hollyhartwick3832
@hollyhartwick3832 2 жыл бұрын
@@Acidfunkish - I ALREADY release too much insulin. My body does this on its own. If I don’t eat sweets to counteract it, my blood sugar drops to dangerous levels, just like when a type 1 diabetic gets too much insulin and has to eat sugar tablets to fix it. The difference is it’s not an occasional mistake for me, it’s everyday life. Maybe you should let me worry about what my doctor recommends instead of try to give strangers medical advice you read online. You’re not qualified to make these statements.

@@hollyhartwick3832 Honestly I'm T1D and I just eat candy. They told me hard candies are best because they take longer to consume, so I regularly just suck on a Jolly Rancher or something when grocery shopping so my blood sugar doesn't plummet. It's weird because I'm not sensitive to insulin, but the slightest bit of exercise makes me feel faint... I have traits of both T1D & T2D, but because of my age they gave T1D as the diagnosis lol I'm just hoping you don't have to stab yourself 10+ times a day... In the future, you could probably legitimately go up front or to the ticket/employer at the door or the nearest employee. Just politely say, "Excuse me, I'm sorry to bother you, but I am watching (insert movie) in theater (insert designation.) There is a party of individuals who are talking extremely loudly and disrupting the movie. When asked if they could please talk more quietly, they threatened to throw items at us. Is there anyway that someone could talk to them or that we could have a refund? It's been very hard to focus on the movie." Obviously it would be better to ask towards the beginning of the movie, since towards the end you have still technically received what you paid for (the time in the theater in this case). Or in certain cases like it being a children's movie, or if you ask and the person is being disruptive due to a disorder, but it certainly doesn't sound like this case was either scenario. It isn't being a Karen to politely ask if an employee can see about doing something about another movie goer who isn't following theater etiquette- particularly as theater etiquette are rules in many cases, as it ruins the experience for other individuals.

@@charliekahn4205 "to honour" is a good word, true. Although, for me it feels different. One would honour someone's legacy, decisions, goals, path. When you honour someone, you put their actions on a pedestal and follow in their footsteps. This also puts a distance between two people (not physical, but social). It most certainly is descriptive of one way a person can respect another, so you did choose a very good word

19:10 - When I was growing up, there was straight or gay and i felt like the odd fish out because i didn't fit into either of those categories. I was around 21/22 when I found out that that the term asexuality existed, and that there were other people who felt like me.

I got really good at identifying people who were about to say "I want to speak to your manager." Before they could say it, I'd say, "Let me go talk to the manager." Walk over and chat with the manager, usually not about the problem customer, walk back and say "I'm sorry, but he says there's nothing we can do." Then the customer usually leaves without a fuss, often happy I, in their mind, tried.

My elementary school made us read Hatchet. It has a kid servive a plane crash and living alone on a deserted island. He had to go back to the plane for supplies and push past the pilot's dead body. Great for kids of all ages.

I know you won’t see this probably, but I just wanna say that you’re probably one of the best Reddit-reaction channels out there (alongside OneTopic). When there is something to discuss about a post, you never miss the opportunity to give some real-world commentary, and I really respect that. Keep up the great work!

Prior to 2020, we always used to get many kids to our door at Halloween - so many in fact that one of our neighbours asked what type of candy we handed out, because she always saw so many at our place, yet she didn’t get many at hers. I suggested she take the sign off her door stating that she won’t give “handouts” to the older kids. (”It’s not the candy Karen, it’s you” 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️) All that aside, I have always welcomed the older teens - I mean, part of that is the likelihood that if they’re here getting candy, they’re a heck of a lot less likely to be off getting into mischief, but that’s not the main reason. My husband and I raised seven kids, and I know how stressful life can and often is for them - to my mind, Halloween is the ONE day out of the year that it’s a little more acceptable for them if they want to just relax and be kids again…so my attitude is that if an older teen shows up at my door, by gosh, there WILL be candy! ❤️

I can't believe there's adults out there that think its okay to mock a girl they don't know and draw her getting hit. That comic might have the most reasonable argument and l would still disagree

11:49 I mean, you already got plushies and stickers, and eventually when Mango plushies start a trend and people track it back to here they'll see the cursed content, so why not make some flat-earthers angry with merch as well? Fun fact - a very easy way to disprove a flat-earther is to tell them to jump a few times - because of how gravity works they would have moved from their original position if the earth was not round (but then they would claim that gravity is a lie too)

Oooh respect. My dad once decided I “disrespected” him bc I didn’t agree with him (by “once” I mean basically daily, but this was the consequence one time 😂). He decided that as punishment I would write him an three-page essay about the importance of respect, picturing an essay about respecting authority/“my elders.” What he got instead was an essay about the importance of treating all people with dignity and earning respect beyond that through mutual acknowledgment 😂😂😂

13:29 in that case they should hire socialists, communists and anarchists, the barrier to entry for left wing political ideology is basically just a massive reading list of several hundred years of books from different authors explaining how sociology, economics, and political sciences all interact to explain how human civilisations function and change. It requires a good understanding of logic and reason as well.
