If you are trying to get a human to eat right find out what he likes to eat and reprogram the food replicater so that without noticeably altering the texture and flavor it hides the nutrition and limits the calories in the food that is eaten.

Health and taste are the 2 most important parts of our diet. The ideal diet has all the nutrients we need, just right calories, tastes good, and decent variety.

The dumbest thing is sci-fi with that problem, making something with all the vitamins and minerals of a full serving of veggies that tastes like blueberry cobbler/the world’s best chocolate/pumpkin pie slathered in whip cream/whatever wouldn’t be hard at that tech level. Heck they make some really healthy and good for you protein bars with those types of flavors.

@@nvfury13 Sci-Fi brings in a new problem. Sentience amonst bio-diverse species. While listed flavors would be good with humans, they could be the flavors of toxic materials to other sentient races/species and for a lack of more elegant example it could be the same as one of those other races/species using the flavor of literal shit for us. So there would still be a high likely hood that food that can be eaten universally would either be bland or unappealing in taste and even with human focused foods such flavored protein bars are more of a luxury good when you get into any military setting even in Private Military deployments as cost and availability need to be balanced alongside the typical cultural diets. This issue is one of the reasons why rations can vary so widely between countries, and one of the reason at least for a long time the USA had the worst field rations in terms of tasted as it was more focused on cost efficiency of the rations over the quality of their taste. So unless a setting was purely human where old problems get replaced with new ones, we would see old problems at least thought to be fixed return with a new twist.
