"He was selling more than MIchael Jackson. He was selling more than Madonna. He was out-selling everybody," quote from Sony Excecutive. " I couldn't do business with people who didn't care," quote by George Michael. George Michael has the BEST VOICE, hands down, out of so many other performing artists of his generation. I love George Michael, always have , always will. RIP, mate.. you have your freedom now..

"OLDER" is soo sad. Beautiful, but sad.. "Listen without prejudice" & "Older" are my fav.
@MDHNYC8 жыл бұрын
Marta Gray - Same here. Too bad "Older" never really caught on in the U.S. Even if it would've been further pushed along by the record company, I blame U.S. audiences, not the speculation voiced by the person being interviewed that he wasn't as popular as he once was because he was "washed up" or irrelevant. Since the early 90's, the U.S. media has not only always been geared towards teen audiences (for which a album like "Older" was just too sophisticated for) but also leans more towards more urban sounding music. Sad but true. Interesting what every musician has to say about record companies back then. I used to work at one in the eighties. It felt more like working at a bank. All most of them care about is the bottom line.

Thank you for leaving us your beautiful music and videos but why have you been taken far to soon? I met you,, in Italy and I saw your death report on my phone and burst into tears. It is funny because I live in Vegas and I was at a poker table. We have lost an icon, I hope 2017 doesn't repeat the horror of. 2016. I pray GM is at peace and I hope my years and tears make me appreciate how real his music was. It was auto biographical. Omg I loved that man. RIP GM xxxxxxc

@robertociabattini347 жыл бұрын
George Michael your mind was good and you tried to give LOVE and AFFECT to who you found. You have not always found the one who regained your affection and your goodness. He loved music and understood that the Lord had given you a great and beautiful voice. The LOVE you found in a person named Anselmo Feleppa, a man you shared moments of joy and sex. Your nature led you to love a man of your own sex, what's wrong with you? George was pure and fragile. With Anselmo taken away from you too soon, followed by your dear mother, the other person you loved came into depression made unfortunately by the wrong choices. For you the joy of life is over, just daily routines, new music, drugs, new concerts, male friendships to vent your sex instincts, already experienced with Anselmo, but I think they are reciprocated with little true LOVE. George I'm not gay, but I still love and love your voice, your music and your integrity.

He did THIS concert while things in his personal life was in emotional strains; he knew Anselmo was not doing so well; I THINK they'd just found out Anselmo had aids-not sure of the FACTS, but..my point IS: he was FOREVER the professional and performed BEAUTIFULLY AND PERFECTLY regardless of in turmoil at/when he'd had these type of moment(s) !!

The idea that an individual, regardless of their personal wealth, is demonized for wanting creative freedom and not be tied to one company for a certain number of years for a certain amount of creations - is ludicrous. People who are artists are not like accountants or lawyers, whatever - artistic expression doesn't come to an artist at will. I so admired GM for suing SONY though I always knew he would lose given the impact his success in the case would have had on the entire industry - the corporate world, stockholders - and, the courts - were not going to allow that to happen regardless of his being absolutely 100% correct in what he was trying to achieve: his freedom. We all have it in our work - musicians don't and it doesn't matter how much money is involved. I knew musicians here in NYC back then who were silently hoping he would win but not one of them had the courage to speak up in support of him - they all kept their mouths shut. Shameful but expected. GM is so missed as an artist and just as much as an ethical, kind human being 💔

@funkyfit83198 жыл бұрын
where can he have freedom? that much fame and millions desiring george? - he knew that he could not go back and gain the freedom he once had, he was a pawn in a capitalist world. he was a sex symbol and yes the Faith look imprinted him in all our minds. and maybe he was confused, he represented to women a hetrosexual desire and maybe that he was not comfortable with 25 years ago and from a perspective that is very much alive today, popstars are advised not to represent their sexuality - they need to maximise their fan base - and sexual desire sells. where can you be free, you just learn to adapt and flow - which george did later, and he quite liked it that despite being gay and openly so, women still desired and fantasised about him.

Sony didn't want to sell that contract to someone else until they showed him who is boss? But Sony made a huge mistake, you prove you didn't care about true artists and 10 years later they became non existent. They cost the fans 2 albums , listen without prejudice 2 and Trojan souls album . Shame on you Sony .

Older is a lot better than Listen. However, it was still slow and depressing overall. I complain because they star people too damn quiet. that was a bad creative telltale.
