How do the ones crying about old people sitting alone not realize what giant hypocrites they look like? Maybe stop bawling and go talk to them if you think they're so lonely? this is so weird tho like, they've decided for themselves, without asking, that the old person must be miserable and tragic, which is already presumptuous enough, and is just pretending that all old people are living the same sad little life. but then, they also film these people without their consent... it's like, misery porn or something. it's genuinely disgusting. even if they're really just 'empaths' and can somehow miraculously tell what emotions any random old person is having, and are feeling those emotions too, why the fuck would it be necessary to them take a video of it? it's performative, useless, and disgusting.

I am still so confused by that parking lot woman. Like, the entire video is spent with her just goading him to step out of his car and fight her while constantly belittling him, but unless I missed something, there's literally nothing in there about what actually set her off. I just spent that whole segment asking myself "Okay, I get you're unhinged, but what did he do?" (or more likely, what did she think he did?). Without any context it just comes across like she's mad that someone would have the nerve to go out and buy McDonalds.

Idk why but the crying mom reminded me of the story where a woman had 2 kids with her ex husband and now that she was remarrying, her fiancé wanted to DNA test the kids to make sure they were his. As in, he wants to test her children with her ex husband that were 3 and 5 when he got together with her. Why? Because he thought the adoption process would change their DNA so he would be their biological father. Despite her, his mother, his father, and several books explaining why this wasn’t possible, he threw a fit and insisted that if the kids didn’t stop being selfish and change their DNA, then the marriage is off and he gave them a week to change their minds and also provide a DNA test confirming it. His mom called her on the low and gently insisted she not even wait the week to leave her pinecone of a son because he keeps insisting adoption changes DNA. ETA: he misinterpreted everyone telling him that adopting children makes them yours and then just died on that hill.

Having working in hospitality (pub, bar & cafés) for years, I've sadly met a handful of elderly customers who were on their own because they didn't have anyone else to accompany them. But the vast majority simply went out on their own for a bit of 'me' time or because they didn't fancy going around the mall, etc. so sat down with a newspaper or book whilst their other half was busy elsewhere. Its important to be aware of loneliness and check in on neighbours, relatives, etc. but it's also important to be aware that alone doesn't necessarily mean lonely.
@mommy2libras5 ай бұрын
Right? I'm the oldest of 5 kids, had my first child at 21 and have never had my own room for more than a year, I think. I adore my husband now but I'm also happy to have time alone. I'm used to being home alone all day while he's at work and my youngest child (a teenager) is at school. I almost went batshit during lockdown because they wouldn't gtfo and I couldn't do my normal routine, had to clean around them, etc. I love them like everything but I also love the time I have alone. I had a bunch of crappy relationships when I was younger and in my early 30s decided to be good company to myself. One thing I really prefer to do alone is shop for clothes. I'm kind of picky about clothes and how they fit and feel and when others are with me, I feel like I'm tak8ng up too much time or making them wait on me. So I'll go shopping and sometimes eat al9ne. It's excellent me time and I can eat wherever and whenever I want.
@JessicaO490Z5 ай бұрын
I remember in college a couple of the girls would make comments like that about young people or anybody that's alone. But just because somebody's alone doesn't mean they're lonely. They would say stuff like oh isn't it so pathetic and sad that they're going to the movie alone etc. Me as an introvert I appreciate doing things on my own, It gives me a break from all the hubbub of the family and lets me refresh. Plus I enjoy eating out in peace.

If you try to say, drive into the ATM close enough that it or the structure encasing it would be damaged, you'd bounce off of the post instead. Further, they're usually positioned so that you can't angle your vehicle to directly impact them without having the car be totaled. This way you can not smash and grab all the money in the ATM and make a getaway. The ones for the pneumatic tubes are only there to prevent damage, as theft isn't a concern there.

Can follow the feeling but feels like it’s a little much to be crying in the restaurant and *then* posting it online just cause this happened once. If it’s the same person and it’s happened like- 10 times within the same week maybe, but even then videos posting people online without permission AND without an attempt to even blur their faces are always so uncomfortable. Like, if you’re really an empath maybe focus that towards that even if this was true they *might not want to have their face shared to who knows what degree on the internet* ( this stuff is particularly weird having hyperempathy, just don’t get it )

100% she was being racist. there's no other context in which you'd use those words with that tone to address someone. and added to the context of the conversation inferring that they were poor just because they happen to be eating at a McDonalds... there's no way it wasnt racism.

That was my first thought. A grown white woman calling a young Black man “boy” almost certainly knows exactly what she’s doing. Even if she doesn’t, it’s incredibly rude and demeaning.

Absolutely. That was my first thought when she started using "boy" and "son" and not even trying to hide the disrespect in her voice. Dude kept his cool and acted like she was a joke, which probably infuriated her more and made her show how ridiculous she was.

28:25 my dad raised an abandoned wild squirrel baby when he was a kid! He has a picture of when it sat on his arm! He took care of it, fed it baby formula from a doll bottle he'd pierced a little hole in to use, he taught it how to climb. He climbed up w a ladder when the squirrel froze in fear of height when it first tried to climb the tallest tree in the backyard, and he let it cling onto his arm so tightly he got little clawmarks as he carried it back down. (A squirrel, afraid of heights!! - though nw it got over it!) He let the squirrel - named "Tisse" for "Tisdag"(Tuesday), the day he found it - step by step get used to the wild until it finally spent less and less time visiting his home and went to live completely in the wild. Truly a friend shaped little creature 🥹🫶 I love retelling the story

I heard about the group that posted the video with the baby bears. They were identified and the wildlife commission was called to the scene where they found the last bear cub still on the wrong side of the fence. The group responsible was told off. Regarding the white woman picking a fight with the black guy in the McDonalds parking - that woman is trying to get him killed. If he'd risen to the bait and the cops had been called, 50/50 they'd have shot him instead of de-escalating. And that's giving it the most generous odds I can.

My empath senses gives me the tingles- oh no, a spider! Wait, wrong sense. Seriously, people who self proclaim as an empath (in the sense of knowing what you're feeling) is so... Selfish? In a way? I don't know how to put it in words.
@thedigitalautist7 ай бұрын
It's self-centered, because everyone is capable of empathy, but they think they are the only ones who can...feel things for other people, I guess? Being empathic/"an empath" doesn't make you unique. It's part of being human. Yes, some may feel empathy on a deeper level than others--but I can almost guarantee that those people are not the ones going around posting TikToks of themselves crying about old people who happen to be sitting by themselves. 🙄
@kodomoshawn67297 ай бұрын
It's because "I can feel everyone's emotions!" = "everyone's emotions are about ME!" Example: "your dog just died but have you considered that your crying is making ME upset?!?!?"
@junrobin93357 ай бұрын
People often use the word empath synonymous with the hyper sensitive personality trait. The people who can be defined as empaths aren't really empaths like they can't feel exactly what you feel. But if you express emotion they can entirely experience your intensity as their own. On occassion it might even hit them harder because for them your situation is worse than you view it. It's more of an emotional disorder in my opinion but I ain't gonna yell at the dsm 5 people to add it. A majority of the people with hyper sensitivity though would get a lot of value from therapy related to handling emotions. It's not actually fun to be hyper sensitive. It's not an I feel what others feel because you have your own experiences and world view. And you react to others their emotions based on that view.

Over heard my sister claiming to be an empath once. She's gone really far down the astrology rabbit hole (something about twin flames with her ex and feeling Everytime he's angry etc and sharing dreams or something) and she's often said "I know how you're feeling" to me before proceeding to say something that I'm not really feeling. I dunno how to politely tell her the stuff is bs 😔 Edit: It is ofc possible to feel emotions like they're your own, like how normal empathy works. However, nobody is Alex from Life is Strange: True Colours level of empath, but she doesn't understand that and she's a grown ass adult.

"Trauma dumping" has always been used in the online groups to discredit someone's fears, anxiety, or emotions towards something. At least in my personal accounts of lurking in Discord voice chats. Like the classic abuse line "You're crazy" rebranded, it's an attack if someone get's too real. Too emotional. No one wants to open up and feel because everyone is stressed as all heck with their own problems. Talking about it might help, but people don't know where to start and toxic people keep shutting others down by calling it "trauma dumping"

One time, a few counties over there was a guy who had been doing that, and when people would stop to check on him, he would jump up and rob them. Flash forward a few months and a guy tried that in our county, and somebody f■cking ran his aṣs over. And after that, no one in the counties affected had any reports of a guy laying in the road to rob people.
