"Military spouses" are like people who demand to be adressed by the academic titles their spouses earned. Also, I have a small story. I used to work in a grocery store stocking up shelves and stuff during Covid times, a woman came up to me while I was close to the cooking oil and she complained about the prices and told me "To buy that shit myself", madam, I'm not responsible for the prices, I would've increased them 10x just for you.

@acheronbutler yeah, I get the funny side, but also, the problem with things like this, is the meme, when repeated enough, however inaccurate, becomes urban language, like the term 'Karen' is now has a definition of a toxic bukky complainer over stupid stuff. It makes life difficult for people called Karen. It's already made complaining the domain of toxic people which makes it difficult for people with genuine issues. I'm not trying to have a go at you or anything, just to think about how these things snowball when repeated mindlessly. Kind of like the serial book banners, most of them have never even heard of the book they're seeking to get banned, because their 'preacher' told them to do it and what to say to get it done. They don't question, they just throw money at him and go do it, consequences be damned. An extreme example, but it boils down to the same thing we're all guilty of. We see something, and without really Thinking about it, we've already shared or repeated it or whatever and then suddenly it's a whole thing and derogatory to a whole bunch of innocent people.... ugghh, my adhd meds are NOT working too well today, I'm still in titration though.

Somewhat unrelated, but these stories reminded me of the time I left a comment under a KZbin video where I briefly mentioned my gf (she wasn't even really the point of the comment) and some bitter ass dude in the replies accused me of making her up. I was honestly flabbergasted, because he spewed this bs so confidently, with no discernible trigger whatsoever. Anyways, I showed my gf and we shared a good laugh about it, and then she went to find the comment on her account so she could tell him that is was kinda rude of him to deny her existence. We then lightheartedly poked fun at him for a little longer from our respective accounts before letting it go, but hopefully that teached him that hard projection on strangers is not really the way.

Last place I lived before moving to the middle of nowhere, trash tended to run at like 6-9 AM for my neighborhood and was required to be out by either 5 or 6 AM by the rules of the city. Place where I grew up it was by the alley because trash and recycling got picked up along that instead of the front road. (makes sense because small front yards there) Where I live now, we have opt in trash collection and our trash bin just stays on the edge of the road because it's a purely residential road with only one house next to us before the road dead ends.

Fun karen story (according to manager, kids, & the officer we talked to): disabled stepdaughter was out at a fast food restaurant with her friend who is outwardly lesbian (rainbow pins, proud to be out keychain etc). Some karen came up to them and started talking about how they were too young to have made that decision and how this was just a phase and how they need jesus in their life to show them the path. Now stepdaughter had a few strokes which is why she is disabled but also why she doesn't have a filter and doesn’t always understand what people are going on about all the time. She told the lady she goes to church every Sunday and thinks it's weird people like her think she doesn't. Karen tried to explain that they were confused by "woke" culture and are "groomed" by it to live sinful by laying with their same gender and how the only righteous way to be was to be with a man and do what god intended of women. Stepdaughter looked at her and (according to her friend) said "the only things and people in my life that have tried to force me and confuse me to be something that felt bad and wrong are all old white people that talk about church and a book they never really read." Karen got mad and said something about her living in sin being the reason she's disabled and problematic (wanted to kill this lady after I heard that so she's lucky I didn't hear about that till later). Friend said "yeah Karen because talking to 2 preteens about having sex with men and making babies isn't weird for an old lady like you" karen went ballistic, manager had to call cops, she was trespassed and cited for something. We had to collect the girls and take them home. I'm proud of them both because thats my level of sass and also stepdaughter is still confused about why lady was werid and upset. She doesn't understand the nature of a wild Karen confronted but her friend sees her as a legend now.

So, a few years ago, my parents and I went to Brookfield Zoo. We were on the tram, getting ready for the guided tour, and these four kids were sitting across from us. The girl sitting across from my mom kept swinging her legs so far, she kicked my mom’s knees. This was very shortly after my mom had knee surgery (cleared for walking, but still sore and sensitive), so, obviously, this was extremely painful for her. She asked the girl, “Could you please stop that? You’re hurting me.” The girl stopped for about five seconds before swinging her legs harder. I finally snapped at the girl, loudly saying, “STOP KICKING MY MOTHER! SHE JUST HAD KNEE SURGERY!” The girl and her brothers jumped, then she started crying. Her brothers took her away, to their parents- who were four cars BEHIND us! My mom said I was too harsh on the girl, but she didn’t respond to the first time, so I wanted to make sure she understood that what she was doing was wrong and hurting someone. I also wanted everyone else to hear it so she couldn’t try to say that I was picking on her for no reason.

A notch is put in their ear to mark them as being fixed. They're sometimes given shots too. Yeah, all the ferals across my garden and next door got trap-neuter-released (except Jellicle, who was newer and definitely fathered next door's kittens) (most of the local ferals are named after characters from Cats because we did the paperwork and we're musical theatre people) (the main exception is Gally, short for Galahad, because we named her before she got out (born in our house)) (her mother was an abandoned domestic, likely because she got pregnant with her first litter, Gally and her five littermates were her second) (we still have the runt of said litter, who is twelve now and our precious baby) Gally's own kittens, or at least the one that survived, were put for adoption, I remember that That's a lot of brackets, wow

“Fixing” an animal refers to Neutering and Spaying. If they’ve had those procedures they’ve been “fixed”. And there are groups of individuals who catch feral cats, pay to get them fixed, and then either adopt them out or release them back to the colony (after the cat if fully healed). Most of the time, strays with a single docked ear (tip cut off) have been fixed as that’s an indicator to make sure the same cat isn’t captured twice

Agreed. My husband was a single father of a young girl for years before I moved out to be with him. There was more than one conversation about how anxious he was to be out with her at a park or anywhere really. Or if a place didn't have a family bathroom, he obviously couldn't go into the women's bathroom so he had to take her in the men's room and how awkward was. He also talked about how, working in a high rise, he used to like to take his lunch outside by the water front that also happened to have a fountain that kids liked to play in. He stopped doing that after noticing multiple suspicious, dirty looks from other women there and just ate in the employee break room instead. He lived in fear of being accused of being a pedophile or kidnapper just for being a man alone. His daughters best friend that she wanted to take everywhere with them was of a different race, so that was even more of a worry while out in public with two young girls. His fear was not unfounded as we hear stories on Reddit of fathers out alone with their children being accosted by wild Karens, having the police called on them, or worse they tried to run off with kids away from their legal guardians and caught false report and kidnapping charges of their own. SMH.

@bronwench5055

Decoration might sound misleading to some people. There's nothing wrong with having, say, a decorative flag properly mounted at your residence. Where it becomes an improper decoration would be like printing the flag on paper plates and napkins that people are going to eat off, wipe their mouths on and later dispose of in the trash. There are other rules too if you do keep a flag like if it's out after sunset, it needs to be illuminated, cannot be dirty, torn or frayed, cannot be outside in bad weather etc.

The P-word accusation happened to a pal of mine. He was a party-goer, his daughter was a party-goer, & his daughter's son became a party-goer when he turned 18. He was a great fellow who had nothing but respect for everybody he came across. Loads of ladies were his friends because he treated them like any good father treats his daughters. He passed away a few years ago & I still think of him fondly to this day. The accusations came from a young girl in her early 20s at the time who thought parties were for her age group & nobody else. At the time I was 15 years older than her, & though she tolerated me, I wasn't in her close-knit circle. I thought she was ok until she came out with this plainly ageist stuff, & many more folks took the fellow's side than hers. He was at home with his daughter crying at the accusations. Poor fellow. He was one of the good ones.

40+ years ago, I had a temporary job as a conductor on city buses. There was one terminus that the bus had to reverse into a narrow side street to get turned. The rules were that the conductor had to get off to check that the side street was clear, a and give the driver the ok by blowing the very loud whistle we all had. Now nobody bothered with this , as you could see round the corner, and would just give two rings on the bell to let driver know it was clear. A resident complained that we weren't doing our job correctly. Cue deafening whistling from 6am until 11.30pm ,every 10-15 minutes. Soon we were told it was OK to use the bell method.

I work with calculating the amount of money someone is eligible to receive through social insurance in case of illness or injury. I had one case where I was going back and forth with the insured person for quite some time before they had finally provided me with all their information. About two or so weeks after making my final decision the insured called in, asked to be put in contact with "anyone but the person who made the decision in the case", claiming I must have made an error when calculating how much they were to receive. My boss gave the case back to me and I had indeed made a mistake in the calculation. The person was to recieve 1200 less than what I had first decided for them. The thing is, if they had just shut up, no one on our end would have even noticed the mistake, and if it had been discovered at some later date, chances are extremely high nothing would have been done about it since the mistake was ours. It probably stung slightly worse than calling the attention to a 100 dollar misake on some food items, but that story reminded me of my own little dumbass.

Back when I was a teenager we had a similar thing. A man and his daughter came in about 15m before we closed (ugh). Of course they wanted to eat in, but at least it wasn't any hot food. (Less cleanup). We can't have people in the store past close for insurance reasons, and I let them know this and that we would be closing in 15m. The father said it was fine and didn't complain. They sat down and ate their food, finishing it 5m to spare. Then just sat there for the last 5. At 9 I walked over and let them know that we were closing and that they would need to leave; Not to worry about the table or the trash I would clean it up. He was respectful and didn't complain. The left within a minute. Guess what happened the next day? We got a call from corporate; He called and complained that we "rushed him out of the store" and "didn't feel like he was welcomed". I hate those customers... Made it all the more satisfying when someone showed up after I already locked the door and banged/kept pulling on it. 38:03 Not so fun fact for anyone who was unaware: a "fixed" cat has been castrated to prevent reproduction. It's also called neutering. Um... have a nice day?
@Insertia_Nameia
@Insertia_Nameia 3 ай бұрын
Well yeah. That's how you neuter male animals. Same goes for dogs. For females, they get hysterectomies. Meaning they're cut open with a scalpel, the Veterinarian goes through their insides to cut out and remove the uterus amd ovaries (basically it means internal organs got evicted from the body.) It is very invasive and requires a lengthy recovery and tends to leave them in pain for quite some time as it leaves a scar. Newer techniques don't leave so much scarring anymore but it's still common for the fur on some animals to be thinner in that spot. My one dog and one of my female cats I had as a kid both had large bald spots on their bellies from their spay scars.
@TemporalWarrior
@TemporalWarrior 3 ай бұрын
Yeah, though from how she phrases it it’s likely from a TNR program where they neuter and give vaccines to stray cats so the populations don’t grow so high (though kittens and friendly cats are adopted off) which is very good for the environment since cats are invasive species in most places are the leading causes for bird populations falling into endangerment and even extinction.

What about the kittens being eaten alive by fleas? The ones who die cause the moms are so young and stressed they refuse to feed them? Cancer of the ovaries or testies? I swear people don't think of the big picture when complaining about animals getting fixed. Getting animals fixed saves lives. Tons of lives.

There were lots of children there with their parents and grandparents. As I rode past, a man shouted after me out of the blue and called me a child fucker. I didn't ask him why he said that, but I was definitely shocked, because apart from driving past, I didn't do anything. I hadn't even looked at the children. Some people are just weird.

To be fair the cats and vehicles thing is also an issue, mainly in winter and rainy weather. Probably hot weather too. But moreso because cats see them as shelter than because they like to sunbathe on them. My cat houdini’d out of the house last year when we were having our new washer and dryer brought in. Didn’t even know he’d gotten out and it was super hot that day. Found him holed up under the neighbors’ car later that night. (Note: I don’t let him free roam. He’s just a sneaky little bastard. 1:29 Fun fact, I was in the military for 7 years, was married(divorced now), and have worked in a tax office on the military base. Military spouses(including mine) are at times the WORST people to work with and/or for on the base. I was told while I was deployed that my ex-wife caused one issue or another whenever she came to my unit rear detachment for almost anything. I met a retired nearly senile "Army Ernie" type sergeant major and he was more pleasant than half the military spouses I worked with in the tax office, both male and female spouses. It's comparable to a spoiled rich kid that has been given whatever they wanted and they have a hard time accepting the words "no, you're not privileged to the same benefits". Not all of them are headaches, but I would face a bear alone in the woods than a military spouse on a temper tantrum.

Why wasn't that mentioned when they first ordered? Why hadn't they reached out to their customer when they realized they couldn't fulfill the order? Would they have refunded her if she hadn't reached out? I doubt it. So, yes, the manager should be the one to handle the issue _and_ apologize, not the other employees.
