We’re at the age now in society where people are aware of the mental and emotional ramifications of this kind of abuse. A lot of people don’t have the financial means to get the help that they need. R. Kelly had all kinds of financial means to acquire the mental health help available. If he was mentally unable or unwilling to get that help , somebody in his life, be it a friend or family or employee, should’ve stepped-in instead of enabling him.

I doubt that'll happen unless the kids accuse the parents. For R. Kelly it would make him get even more time if he says "well the parents sold the kids to me", for the parents if they say, "He payed money for our kid, we're suing him for damages" they then just snitched on their own selves. I feel you though, the whole lot disgusts me too. The "Parents" most of all and then Kelly and then all those enablers around him. 🤮

As an aspiring 27-year old actor with Cerebral Palsy, this incident made me realize just how unhealthy it is to start your career in your early 20's is. I noticed that some celebrities seemed to have difficulties dealing with setbacks that come with fame because they achieved so much success when they were younger. I think they would have avoided the setbacks of fame if they decided to devote more time training and gaining the right level of experience when they were younger. This realization helps me come to peace with understanding the fact that a career in charming and profitable family movies like Tom and Jerry, Luca, and Ghostbusters 3: Afterlife will always look glamorous but, with a lack of training and experiences, starting off an acting career in your early 20’s can actually be more daunting than comfortable.

@@360.Tapestry I agree. I have cerebral palsy too (the 'wheelchair kind'), but I'd only mention it when a pertinent situation calls for it. It's a bit out of place for him to mention that, especially without any context, and it also inadvertently gives us a bad name, because it's insinuating a need to be defined by a disability -- something we consciously avoid. But I can relate to an extent with what he's saying, being a musician myself. I will say that, knowing R. Kelly has apparently dealt with two disabilities his whole life - dyslexia and dysgraphia - he definitely tried to overcompensate for them with his talents (which I have in the same way, admittedly), but he also had a strong tendency to dominate and control others around him, as a result of being enabled, which he took way too far. Chances are he'll never understand the ramifications of his actions at this point.

Who and what they were written for. All this shit came out already and you still wanna listen to Age Ain't Nothin but a Number? Bump n Grind? 12 Play? Down Low? Stop it!!!! Also, it drives me crazy that yeah others have done this too and people just ignored it. I mean people really wanted to hear ignition and Snake, but when it came to Michael Jackson...OHHHHH I knew it!!!! Hell yes he did those things. Almost immediately. And then when we find out that there is NO EVEIDENCE, people still question it. MJ, aquitted, proof from the FBI, all 4... yes only FOUR accusers, proved to be lying and mf'rs still trying to tell me he is a pedo. R Kelly, tons of accusers, actual video evidence, TWICE, and proof he got Aaliyah pregnant when she was 16..... man i don't know, his songs be hittin tho.... Fuck y'all.

He deserves it, all that money and success and he couldnt just do that right thing...too many yes men. Even if they worship you like a god doesnt mean you are, he could of been an amazing role model for so many young black men like Cosby. Makes me sad bc I grew up listening to him and now I cant bc Im a father to 3 teen daughters. Its sad and he could possibly gonna die in prison.

I was a teenager myself when he married Aaliyah, and I remember being so grossed out by it. Before she passed, I wonder if she ever realized how fucked up the power dynamic was being with a man twice her age. I wonder if the novelty of it had worn off as she grew up.

What got to me in that CBS interview was when he leaped up & began swinging, while Gayle King said, "Robert... Robert..." and you can hear the fear in her voice. She knew that if these accusations were true, then he would most likely get violent and hit HER, just like he did his victims.

Thing is, he should've gotten more. When you think about the victims, the cover up, and the all out preying??? It's a HUGE problem - that's why he was mad at Dave Chappelle for that skit on Chappelle's show. But when you break it down even further, yes, there was no MeToo movement in the 90's, in a country where "success" is immediately coupled with financial and social power. For people that might not see how they can make it, make ends meet or just live, people will agree to some bullshit to SURVIVE! The Devil will come with some tempting offers and in a sweet ass get up to get you caught up. And if you don't believe in the devil, fair, but the preying and manipulation is still real. Dude made some bangers, but he needs to put the fuck away. Stop letting these monsters get by. Put them where they belong.
