I just returned mine. The margins where all over the place some signatures had 2mm margins, others 5mm, some had 2mm in between the book names and the edge others 5mm... very frustrating. They told me it had to do with the narrow margins coming already from Crossway and since they do the trimming semi-manually that makes those differences happening. In my opinion, if that is the case, then don't make them. It is an awful result that looks like that printing was totally wrong and out of hand yet they expect you to pay the same amount for one that has its margins correctly. They were gracious enough to give me a full refund yet I don't think they will be paying for the $20 postage fee I had to pay to send it back. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH ALLAN IN THIS CASE.

The original ESV1s from years and years ago had highland. I personally like the Ludlow goat it's very supple.

Jordan Woods, I have one from 2006 with the Harper Collins block. It had highland and the leather used in the newer ESV1 is better in my opinion.
