As someone who has worked retail for over 6 years, the dress code thing is absolute bs. I've stood next to a guy who was getting chewed out for a shirt he was wearing and I was standing next to him wearing the exact same shirt and they didn't say anything about me. It's all about control, and snapping at people they don't like. Some people just suck

A coworker of mine just got chewed out for taking long lunches. He usually needs to get food from whatever food truck our company got to come, and nobody in their right mind is going to count waiting 10 minutes in sweltering heat part of their lunch break. The bullshit part is that not a word was said to me, and we take lunch together. I've really got them scared that I'm going to quit and they think that not mentioning this makes up for the actual dictator that is our boss.

There's not dress code at my work. And I assumed if my boss can wear trump shirt I could wear my pride shirts :) Got pulled aside and told I shouldn't wear it because they wanted to "stay neutral on matters". I've worn said shirts before outside of June but suddenly the care bear with rainbow glasses is no go. No where in the agreement to work did it say things like that weren't allowed. So I put my resignation letter. This was the final straw of a long line of boss poking fun of immigrants (my parents are immagrants), my bro being trans, and etc. I thought I need the job... Turns out they need me more cause I'm the only one that knows how to design and run the printers. I'm going back to retail and honestly couldn't be happier to wear a designated shirt.

not saying it's right, but it is understandable when it's a factory floor or a warehouse. certain types of clothing can get caught in machinery. If you aren't wearing the proper shoes, you can also get badly injured. a warehouse floor is not the space to be flirting and looking cute or showing off your 6 pack. i only say this, because i the video, that poster detailing the dress code was specifically saying "on the factory floor"

I always drop the im paying cash bomb on them after they make the offer 😂 Most dealers make money on the back end by their agreements with financing companies/banks. Their service plans are the only sensible thing to pay extra for depending on the price. The extra warranties they offer NEVER actually cover the repairs when something actually happens they give some bs excuse to avoid covering the repair.

One of my friends in Phoenix (he's gone now, R.I.P. Grandpa Keith) had a bank account at Bank of America for many years. He started getting charged for writing checks or something, and went in to see if anything could be changed, since he'd had the account for decades and had never had an overdraft or anything. Long story short, no, they couldn't. So he asked if he could withdraw the money and close the account. "No, sir. I'm afraid there's a fee for closing the account." He replied "Is there a fee for leaving it open and not using it?" "No, sir." "Well, what's the minimum balance for keeping the account open?" "Any amount will keep it open." He withdrew all of his money, tens of thousands of dollars, leaving ten cents in the account, and walked across the street to a competitor where he deposited his money, and kept it there until he got dementia. The ten cents probably remains in his account, and he's been dead for about 10 years now.

My childhood neighbors were my parents' best friends. After decades of living with no fences no one had any clue where the property line was and it didn't matter because all us kids had basically free reign over both properties. If the grass needed to be cut either my dad or his friend would do both properties, depending on who was less busy. They finally had to get a surveyor when my parents decided to sell and retire to Florida but luckily the family who moved in are lovely and get along very well with my parents' besties. This is how neighbors should be.

I remember my first car sale. The guy listened to what I was looking for, within my budget, didn't try to upsell me on extra features (it helped I was looking for a used car, not much upselling to be done if they already have the stuff), we test-drove a bunch of different cars to see how they felt, and once the car was decided on and was time for paperwork a few days later, instead of holding me and doing sudden "oh, waits", they had a comfortable waiting area while getting everything printed off. That neighbor one. THAT is really why you call a goddamn surveyor first before you start claiming about borders. The thing is that while property sizes are well documented and all, somewhere along the line there may have been neighborly agreements with previous owners like "Oh, sure you can put the fence on our property. We don't mind cutting little less grass"

I think when a person dies it should be reported to the credit bereau, that way they can just run a credit check to verify the person is deceased. No awkward situations, no death cert, customer doesn't even need to know that a check was made, just "can I place you on hold for a moment?" ... 3 minutes later. "OK that acct has been canceled, anything else I can assist you with today?" BOOM. Done.

Unfortunately, if the credit bureau is a government run office, chances are they won’t be getting a response in 3 minutes, it’s more like 3 days. However, you can remedy that by saying “alright, we’ll out your account of hold and call you back in 2-3 business days”.

Always, always, always be prepared to walk out of the dealership. Yeah they have other shoppers but you got other dealers. Never take only 1 key to a dealership when trading in your car. Give them the valet key when they want to "test drive" your trade in. They will rather inconveniently loose the key to your car if you try to walk out on a deal. The look on their face when you whip your key and drive away anyways... priceless.

It’s because they aren’t a public service? It does cost the company money to keep the bathrooms stocked and clean. And there’s been an unfortunate number of cases of people going to single-person bathrooms like that to do drugs.
@tarille1043
@tarille1043 Жыл бұрын
It's usually so they don't get a bunch of traffic. Allowing free access to anyone means that you can get a bunch of people just going to use the bathroom and can include people who intentionally deface the property. Not to mention, various other not-wholesome reasons people use bathrooms for (Drugs, sex, assault etc.). Depending on the location of the establishment, these can be factors that would otherwise lead to a worse experience for their actual customers. Thus, for better customer service, restricting bathrooms to customers only makes sense. It doesn't make sense for every establishment, but there are times where the restriction has merit.

If I’m only stopping to use the washroom, I will generally buy something small anyway out of courtesy, but if there’s a long line up, I’ll just use the washroom and go. If I can’t use the washroom without buying some thing, I won’t be stopping there to buy things ever again. And having the code on the receipt so that people can’t use the washroom until after they buy their _take out_ food? So they have to take their food with them into the washroom?

When my wife and i bought our car, when going over the final bit, the salesman handling the paperwork started to sell us on 2 different insurance options. Both would have put the car out of our price limit as we were buying it in full and was totally unnecessary for us. The tablet he handed us to select which coverage plan we wanted didnt have a no thank you button. We looked at each other, knowing we didn't want it and i ask the guy "Do we have to pick one?" Neither of us had ever bought from a dealership before. He had to take it back and do something to it to decline. The guy got MAD that we didnt want to spend a bunch of extra money for no reason. Telling us "you realize you'll be 100% responsible for repairs if anything goes wrong, right?" So i told him we wouldnt drive it very much. We live 2 minutes away from work and its our work car. He says "Well its not good to not drive a car too you know." The guy started SLAMMING his keyboard as he finished up. It was super embarrassing to see a grown man act this way. We have a mechanic 5 minutes from our house and a 10 minute walk to our work, why would we drive 40+ minutes to their place, one way, in car that could be dangerous on the road and have to take time of work to do so?

If they don't then the person can just call up and do what ever. For the mall cop security guard dont fill the backpack with glitter or Ping-Pong balls. The best thing is those micro Styrofoam beads inside bean bag chairs or those soft squishy neck pillows. the static charge those pick up not only fling them everywhere but makes them stick to everything. they'd be finding bits of that stuff till the day they demolish the building

21:25 I had a similar experience. My brother passed away and I had to handle all the affairs. I also got the family home in the will from his passing. While I'm there, with my kids, I get a knock at the door around 1:00 am. I wouldn't have answered it, but there were several sheriff's sitting outside my house with their lights on. I answered it and the cop begins telling me that he needs to speak to the owner of the house. I told him that I was the owner, how could I help? He furrowed his brow and asked who I was, gave him my name and showed my ID. He then said that he had the owner on the phone and would find out from them if I belonged there because if not, we'd be thrown out right then and there. I said I have a death certificate if you want to see it. He said no and started walking away. I then told him, as he was walking away to talk to who the fuck ever, I told him he'd need an ouija board and I'd get my brother's ashes, and we could talk to him together. He wasn't amused. 15 minutes later, he comes back and tells me that the owner on the phone was (my birth mother's name - not even someone who has ANY legal authority over the house) and that she said I was fine to stay there. I laughed in his face and held up the clear bag they give you with the cremains of your loved one, and said that he was now standing face to face with the person whose name the house is currently in and that I was initiating probate that following Monday, and I'd like to be able grieve the sudden passing of my brother without a bat shit crazy woman impersonating being the homeowner and a dumbass cop who believes her and tries to kick my kids and I out of our home. He didn't say anything else to me and left. He also never showed back up. That was a stressful AF time.

When my grandma and I lived in PA, my grandma’s neighbors thought THEIR property lines went right up to the side of GRANDMA’S house, as in, they would mow their lawn and leave just a couple inches between were they mowed and the side of Grandma’s house. Now, this house was inherited by my grandma when her mother’s semi-adoptive mother (she was never LEGALLY adopted, but also wasn’t just fostered and may as well have been adopted in all other aspects)- the family called her Auntie. Growing up, my grandma was to be found anywhere, it was only ever 3 places, her house, Auntie’s house, or Grandma’s crazy aunt’s house (she is a whole other story all together). She distinctly remembered when the people who lived next door to Auntie came over to ask if they could extend their driveway onto Aunties property. They were good friends and since it was a small rural town, back then your word meant more than any legal agreement, so they never LEGALLY changed the property line, though it may have been grandfathered in since 2 or 3 families have lived in the house since the driveway was expanded, including these neighbors that suddenly claimed their property line went up to Grandma’s house. There was NEVER an agreement for that house’s property to be expanded beyond what was allowed for the driveway. Well, I moved in with grandma and wanted to have a garden. The back yard was a jungle because grandma’s bad knee made operating her push mower hard and no one with a riding mower would come over and help- they would say they would when asked in church and then just… not show up. The front yard had a large tree in it, so the on,y place I could put a garden was alongside the house. So, we drove up to the fair grounds, got buckets of horse manure (again, small rural town, EVERYONE with a garden does this, and it’s less the fair had to get rid of), and dumped it where I was going to do my planting. Well, these neighbors were kind of standoffish with Grandma from the day they moved in. They came from New Jersey and it must have been a not so friendly part of the state, because when Grandma brought them over rolls and a crockpot of sloppy joes as a “welcome to the neighborhood,” they accepted the food and returned the crockpot, but just acted like they didn’t trust her at all. Like, the kids would run inside if she saw them when going to work or coming home from the store and said hello. So, when the father came up to her asking if he could ask a question, Grandma was shocked. She said of course and he asked why she was dumping DOG POOP on HIS YARD. Grandma told him, “it’s horse manure and it’s on MY property. Is that why you’ve been mowing that strip of grass?” Well, he didn’t answer, just ran inside and came back out with papers. He stood by the curb with his wife pointing at something and talking to her. Grandma went out to ask what was wrong. They were polite, but obviously annoyed. They to,d her the person they bought the house from told them that this marker by the curb was the property line marker. Y’all… it was a marker for where the storm drain was… the STATE put it there and it even had “Property of PENDOT” (Pennsylvanian Department Of Transportation, the department responsible for road maintenance) WRITTEN on the pole! As they were talking, the guy just kept saying, “well this isn’t how we do things in New Jersey!” Grandma final told him “you aren’t living IN New Jersey, though, you’re living in PENNSYLVANIA, and a rural part of Pennsylvania that does things much differently than most cities and towns, such as getting horse manure to put in their yards and gardens.” He still kept saying that the marker was marking HIS property and that the manure was on HIS property. So grandma told him “I’ve lived in this house may entire life, 70 years. I was there when the people who lived in your house back then asked for permission to make the driveway bigger. I watched them make the driveway bigger. I know for a fact that if you take a metal detector down the middle of your driveway, you will find the pins that marks where you’re properly is on OFFICIAL RECORDS. I know all this. But if YOU want to be certain, than YOU can pay for a surveyor yourself. Now, not to change the subject, but I just thought of it and wanted to let you know before anything happens, there are two graves down by your garage.” Side note: the owners who expanded the driveway were buried down by their garage, which was feet away from the river and right where the waters would rise during heavy rains and floods. So, she wanted them to know before they woke up to a skeleton laying in front of their cars. Since they rarely talked to her, this was her only chance to do it. It effectively ended the conversation. The teenage kids thought it was cool, the parents freaked out.

@@comradewindowsill4253 lol Grandma was worried that since they didn’t talk much, she would forget to tell them the next time she saw them. She only remembered this time because the father had been walking back up the drive way from the garage when he asked about the manure and she had been talking to me about how she should probably tell them about the graves down there when she saw them looking at the marker. She honestly didn’t mean it as a threat or to change the subject. It just came up in her mind at that moment and she decided that was the only chance she’d get to tell them, so she did. Not sure what happened after that lol when we moved 2 years later, they were still living there and still pretty cold towards us. By then they started mowing half of the front yard and we couldn’t decide if it was to be petty or something else.

8:50 Short: Installed a fence and had to move a unofficial granite marker. Karen was not happy. Long: I worked for a fencing company for two summers and I had this problem once on a job site. The site was in a suburb of a old and dying textile city (well known for drugs and crime in my state). Our client wanted to install a nice 6ft white vinal fence that would take a few days to install. The property boarders 4 others. 3 neighbors were nice and cool with us (1 of the 3 would let their kids ride an atv around their cheap chain-link fence from like home depot close to the property line but were fine). We were getting closer and closer to the property corner. We realized that we a had to remove a little granite marker to A, keep the fence in a strait line and B, to put next to another nice neighbors fence. So we started to remove the marker. Out of the blue, the crazy neighbor (well call her Karen) starts yelling at us from her screen door that we were moving the "official" town marker. We tried to de-exultate the situation by explaining to her that the official marker was a metal rod that was 6ft long in the ground flush (we know this as our client had to do some ditch work and had watched the town replace the rod). Karen started to make threating to call the police. She creepily watched us (taking pictures and might have made a few phone calls from the screened door) worked that section of fence making sure it was perfect. Every once and awhile , we asked her, "How is the fence looking," or "Is this level" and even, "Do you see any dirt marks on the fence?". She gave interesting responses including "F!@K YOU". The rest of the job was easy and we told our boss what had happened when we got back to the shop. I even got to bring home a big mostly flat rock (to make walk-ways or stairs).

My cousin worked at a bank with finances, specifically foreclosing accounts of deceased. Now, usually nothing happens that's very extraordinary. That was until one morning she got called by her coworker. "Hey, so, did you close the account of Mr. Soandso?" "Yeah, I finished that up last week. Is there anything wrong?" "Nothing aside of the fact Mr. Soandso is sitting right in front of me and is ... very much alive." "What?" Thus started the wild goose chase of figuring out how to restore a closed account in that situation. Which was a very funny few days, I was assured.

Duuuude. I worked as a staffing coordinator at a temp agency. We had an employee pass on a friday night, right after he got paid. His pay was put on a pay card through Brinks. This dude's poor mom was trying to get his last pay sent to her by check, because he had no other family, she was his next of kin. That company jerked her around over and over, until one day she showed up to the office, near tears, because they wouldn't release the money (she needed it to put him to rest). So, I finally called Brinks. I sat her down next to me, and spent the next HOUR on the phone with them, we faxed them the death certificate from my office, and waited until they confirmed it was received. I took the employee's name and direct line number to be double sure that the woman wouldn't have further issues. When she left, she was getting what money remained on that card. She was such a beautiful old lady, her name was Eleanor.

I had a similar situation happen as the subway cop at Home Depot. I was a cashier and we had a military discount. The rule was that the person needed to be present and they had to have their veterans/military card on hand so I can confirm it. And so I did, every time. People got mad, sometimes, it was a person who was too old or in a wheelchair. I didn't care, thems the rules. If a situation arises, and they were stubborn about it, id call the manager and let them decide if it can be given. Sometimes they would say yes, sometimes no. One time, I had a fellow employee ask for a discount. He said he didn't have his card on him, so I didn't give it to him. I believed him when he said he was a vet, but thems the rules. I offered to get confirmation from any employee who has seen the card, but he apparently didn't think it was worth the effort and dropped it. He got pissy about it and probably expected me to just give it to him cuz we're coworkers or something.

While a retailer normally doesn't have to accept cash, if a company claims there exists a debt, then they have to accept cash. The idea of Legal Tender applies specifically to debts. If they don't accept cash, barring other regulatory restrictions (eg limits on large cash transactions) their other option is to forgive the debt.

I'd already picked out the exact one I wanted by listing number, got a check from my credit union (Navy Federal FTW!!), and had figured in all the taxes and fees required by the state. I told them there was no extra money for extra features, so they could just sell me the car. They did, and I was out the door in under an hour. AVOID the financing nonsense, get your loan check before you go to the dealership!
