0:21 The Dobkeratops at R-Typer Difficulty is more closer to its appearance from the original R-Type while the one on lower difficulties seems to be based on one of the Dobkeratops from R-Type Tactics/Command (if you look a little closer) so I would like to assume that they're different species instead of the same creature.

Thoughts: 1.0 - It's Dobketatops. Nothing else to really say, except interesting variation easter egg, although I would've perferred the R-Type II Mecha-Dobketatops as the varient personally. 2.0 - Intriguing variation on those grid car things from the original 3.0 - Gotta have the battleship. I like that triple cannon-looks badass, and easy enough to avoiid as a bonus 4.0 - ???? A wrecking ball? It says prototype, but I can't place any R-Type boss this would be a prototype of. Strange method of fighting it with the revolving core-nut thing 5.0 - Aw yeah. Now this is cool! Looks badass with those prickles/spines. Is this thing supposed to be a homage/reimagining of the computer chip encased in tons of blobs boss from the original R-type? The way it's babies(?) school around and encase it reminded me of that. 6.0 - Now this is weird. The alien fetus core thing brings to mind the final boss of R-Type II, but the fight itself seems familiar yet I can't place it. I'm pretty sure the original version didn't have the constantly regrowing neurons, though. The fight made me think of Gradius' Big Core with the membranes guarding it. Shoot the core! 6.1 - I take it this is a play on that similarly-shaped satellite boss from R-Type Final? Looks cool enough, like a twist on the Star Wars prequel trilogy ship designs. 6.2 - I'm assuming this was supposed to be a simplified version of the Compiler from the original? It has so little HP it makes it sad, embarassing even. A shame, because it actually looks cool to me. 7.0 - For a final boss, that was a bit boring. Then again I'm not behind the controller, so I can't feel the difficulty. Yet the other R-type final battles had an omph to them. You got the feeling of an epic confrontation visually. This just looked bland and boring. The pulsing spikes from the growing core is a cool effect though. 7.1 - Didn't we already have a battleship stage? I get that you've gone Bydo in this timeline, but still. The camera work was incredible, but it was a bit too dragged out without much visually to keep it interesting. 7.2 - Now this is more like it! I love the snakes made of ghostly electricity, an awesome and original take on the worm enemies from R-Type II! The boss itself reminded me of the final boss of R-Type Leo, with an aesthetic more akin to the last Bydo core thing from R-Type Final. The element of you having to wait for your window (the membrane opening to send out a snake) to pumel it with the force pod is a pretty nice callback to the Bydo emperor from the original. What happened when you flew into/inside it though? Is there a phase missing? or is that how you go Bydo in the other aforementioned timeline? I'm confused.

It looks like a wrecking ball, but the 4.0 boss is a blast furnace (I don't know about the English version, but in the Japanese version it is revealed at the Bydo Labo that it is a blast furnace). Then, the 6.2 boss "SHIN-G" has the same means of attack as the "Image Fight" boss "SHINJI". Incidentally, the names of the bosses in Image Fight are derived from Japanese and American people's names, such as Nancy and Mariko.

I think the same as you, endings are way too short for a game released 17 years after the previous one, with more tecnology available, i don't think there is an excuse for that, 7.1 had so much potential for bosses, they could've thrown way more R-Crafts at you, maybe an appearance of the R-99, R-100, R-101, would be pretty epic

In Stage 5.0, towards the end of the level you will encounter a capsule that is different from the usual weapon capsule, there will be 4 different colors, depending on which one you choose, you will branch paths, going to either 6.0,6.1 or 6.2 the grey colored drop doesn't have a path, i assume it might randomize the path you take, from top to bottom, you would have to get the 3rd drop to go to stage 6.2

I feel as if the endings for 7.1 and 7.2 were huge swings and misses for endgames. 7.1, you're literally just fighting enemies only, and there's just no boss character, whereas in R-T F 1, you fought a heavily armored fighter character as a final boss. If this should be a finale that's actually somewhat exciting, they should at least have a sequence where you go into a battleship and destroy it at it's core, like Natsuki Chronicles did at Stage 9. Also, whats up with those turrets at 18:22 and 20:05? 7.2 is just a phase, and theres just one attack, not to mention you can cheese the boss by throwing your force module in it and destroying it within. I feel as if it should at least destroy your force if you throw it in so there's some limitations, but to do it justice, I have 2 ideas. The first would have a final phase where it launches an all out attack on you, taking your force and using whatever upgrade it has on and turning it against you, similar to R-T F 1's bydo core. The second would take reference to the finale we saw during the 7.2 final boss sequence at 22:00, where we fought another core within the core, like a ball of light for instance. Attack patterns can be whatever the mind imagines, but it would add more depth to that final boss, and once that form gets defeated, have it explode in a huge ball of light, and then cut to black, and roll the endings Speaking of which, they also feel kind of lackluster, seeing as it's just text, and there's no visuals or even additional mission info unlocked at the end, like with what a different game, "Project Wingman," did with their ending, that gave you a more detailed ending. Hopefully, the devs behind the game are thinking of/or are implementing updates to the game, so the game can become more refined and worthy to being a successor and potential TRUE final entry to the series(if it is the final entry, if not, then it's just another R-T game to add to it's ever expanding lore), as R-T F 1 was supposed to be before this came out. It does look quite polished already though, in my opinion, it's just lacking a bit is all. P.S., Any more information added to this mini-review of mine will be in the replies.
@sylverthefolf7677
@sylverthefolf7677 3 жыл бұрын
I also think some of the boss designs could use a bit of work. The thawed out first Dobkeratops should have a detail added to it where you KNOW it's dead, like having the eyes go dark and it stops moving entirely. The frozen one though doesn't really need any edits, as it looks perfectly fine for what it's going for. The stage 3 warship, I havent explored too deep into detail yet, but from the boss itself, it looks rough around the edges, it especially reveals it's flaws when the boss part of it is destroyed, and the camera pans itself at a certain angle. Boss 6.1 literally has timeframes where you can detect the boss object being retextured to a more damaged texture, making the boss design less appealing. If the object in question actually at least exploded a bit so it can mask it, then it would be more appealing as a boss. Then you have the endgame bosses that I talked about. I do like the endgame theme present a bit though, really does take R-T F 1's theme as inspiration and expands on it with a crescendo. Before you comment on this, do keep in mind that this is just my opinion, not the word of God, and shouldn't be taken as such.

It doesn't have a lot of the gross alien bydo stuff that the series is known for, but it tries, (for instance they still have the dark bydo transformation ending) and is fine as is tbh. I think where it really makes up is the gameplay though. Having all the different ships and customization as well as the extra screen space makes this game really fun and replayable. Plus there adding dlc stages from older games and you can make custom stage paths. So for example stage 1, 2 and 3, can be the normal r type final 2 stages but then you can put stage 4 from r type 3 and stage 6 from r type Leo instead (both of those stages are already available) - which is super cool. And they'll be adding more stages so that will get expanded on as well.
