I’m a Muppet fanatic and amateur puppeteer and I love seeing a younger generation fascinated with the Muppets. It’s a lost art and love that we need to keep alive. Thank you and keep it up!

Muppets in Space, Caper, Christmas Carol and especially Treasure island were the muppet movies I grew up with, my grandparents owned them and during every time I’d visit them like once or twice a year, I would have to watch those movies to fulfill my muppets quota. ❤️❤️❤️

This movie was always one I knew existed from my childhood but could never find until this year. All I could remember was that Gonzo was an alien that had a conversation with a sandwich

Love the first episode thus far! It’s nice to get more appreciation of the Muppets on KZbin. Felt your story about your grandma and this was super sweet! ^_^ As for me, I’ve been on and off again about Muppets from Space, but now I more so love it. As a kid it was the main Muppet Movie I saw in theaters at the time that I remember seeing. Nostalgia is certainly strong but almost shrugged it off a bit at points due to how different it was from other Muppet movies during the time of the 2011 reboot. It does feel like an odd one out, but I think as time goes on, I’ve grown to appreciate that more. I am still also on the page of preferring Gonzo not being simplified by being an alien when him being a whatever I think is more interesting for his character being so unique. But at the same time, I love seeing Gonzo get such a big focus. Plus, the Brick House scene, one of the most iconic Muppet openings.
@malonespopsАй бұрын
I can completely agree with that, too! I’ll always be a little biased toward this one, but I often hear that people who used to not really care for it also grew that appreciation as times gone on!

"Muppets Take Manhattan" and the Valentine's Day episode of Muppet Babies were the first bits of Muppets i saw when i was little, I didn't even know English, and i would constantly repeat baby Animals little "yayayayaya" he'd do randomly. Id watch "MTM" back to back 3 times straight sometimes, especially on Road Trips, i still have most of it memorized even though its been years. And its because of Muppets in Space that i relate "Brick House" to morning routines, and i always wished i had a big family like how all the Muppets felt like, all close like that hehe. Great episode, this is feeling real pleasant, I'm loving it, love seeing people share their hobbies and interests like this ✨ ^ᴗ^

To clarify Frank Oz's relationship with Disney, here's a few quotes: CBS reporter: So if Jim really understood the characters, you have been pretty critical of Disney for not sorta getting these characters. Frank Oz: Not critical, it's weird. The trouble with print is they can't print tone, and my tone wasn't combative, my tone is hopeful and pleating. Because Disney really wants to do a good job, they're really doing the very best they can. The thing is what they don't understand is someone new can't just write for the Muppets. There are performers who have been with them for decades, and they're not being part of the process. Those people, Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, they are brilliant, they know the soul, and I just wish they would be asked to be part of the creation, and that's what would make a success for Disney, really. So I have nothing against Disney, Jim wanted to go to Disney, absolutely. Kirk Thatcher: Probably the biggest frustration with the Muppets is they don't have a Kevin Feige or John Lasseter or Brian Henson to go "Okay, we trust you, we'll give you a big budget." Madison Mantas: Do you think that's something that could end up changing? I feel like Muppets Haunted Mansion is gonna bring a lot of different people, and maybe that'll make it more popular. Kirk: My joke is it'll do really well and so they'll get Guillermo del Toro to do the Muppet Scary Movie or something. You're never profiting your own town. I don't know, I was very frustrated and have been with the way the Muppets are handled, and we're spoiled. People asked me about the Frank Oz interview in the Guardian, and what you have to understand is his frustration's the same as mine. When you worked with Jim or Brian, there was one person to basically deal with, he liked it or he didn't, you moved on and that was it. With a corporation, with marketing and business affairs, and everyone combing every piece of dialogue, lawyers. On Wizard of Oz, we got 40 pages of notes from lawyers a week before we started shooting. I remember telling Martin Baker "Lawyers are now doing script notes?" And that's sorta where we are now, lawyers and marketing people, and they're well-intentioned , they're trying to protect the franchise and being sued. They're not bad people but, it's a hell of a way to run a railroad. It kinda stifles creativity and when Frank said Disney doesn't wanna work with him, what he meant was they would work him tomorrow, but they wouldn't give him final cut. Being a director with a franchise, my casting suggestions are "Here's what we're gonna give you" and if I said I didn't want them, it doesn't matter. That's how Ashanti did WOZ, I said "she's a great singer, she's a lovely person, but she can't carry a whole movie, she's a singer, not an actress". And they're like "Well, that's your task. If you're a good enough director." I'm like "I'm not, I don't have that much time and money." I'm sure Frank doesn't want that, he'd be like "I want Steve Martin to play the yada-yada". And we recommend people of that era, the Steve Martins or Martin Shorts, and they're like "Kids today don't know who they are". I'm like "It doesn't matter, it's perfect casting." I love Jon Lovitz and I try to put him in everything. And the response I get is "Oh, he hasn't been on TV for a while." I'm like "But he's hilarious." Jerry Juhl and I when we were doing Treasure Island, we were coming up with casting when we're writing to give you an idea of what kinda voice you'd write for. We'd say "Oh, yeah, that's a Muppet person". Like Billy Connolly, Muppet person, Tim Curry, Muppet person. We were so fortunate on TI, and the Brits get the Muppets, that kinda British humor really works with it. Steve Martin, Martin Short, they're Muppety entertainers. And others who people really love are not, and that's not bad, it's just they don't kinda jibe well with the Muppet energy. Frank Oz: Jim was such an amazing person that he was always supportive of me even though he was loosing me to directing. But there was a time there where I was both directing and performing. And then as I did more movies, I didn't screw up, and they kept on asking me cause I didn't screw up, I did more. And that's the reason why I couldn't do SS as much, partly because, I had 4 kids growing up, but also, I was directing, and I had no choice but to give up my characters. It wasn't fair to say, "Nope, I'm holding onto them, that's it." It wasn't right. I haven't quit, I haven't retired from performing, I just haven't been asked. But Eric and those guys have been doing a brilliant job, and I always say that Eric is so talented, he really should have characters of his own, it's not fair to him. But nevertheless, I would not have had as much time, because you commit to a movie for a long time, and you pretty much work incessantly. Jarrod Fairclough: You obviously haven't performed for awhile, you said you haven't been asked, if you got a phone call from Sesame tomorrow saying "Hey, are you free for a week?" Would you jump back or would you have to think about it? Frank: No, I would like that very much. As I stopped I was doing 2 days a year on SS, and I couldn't do a lot more than that, 4 days tops, because I was doing many other things. But the reason I'd go back is to let people know what I learned from Jim, which was this sense of controlled lunacy, which I don't sense anymore. The reason I'd like to go back is just to show people "Hey, this is how Jim did it, this is how we did it, and it's okay to do it for yourself, cause you're an adult, and just to have fun and screw around." That's the reason I'd love to go back, is to bring back a bit of that lunacy that Jim taught us. Jarrod: There seems to be some false narrative out there, occasionally you'll see a headline that says "Frank Oz thinks the Muppets suck now" or something like that. And you go "No, that's not what he said." And if you read through what you actually said in the article, it's just a quick quote or something taken out of context. So let's set the record straight, you don't think the Muppets suck. Frank: No. Now that was years ago, now the Muppets Studio these days is much better, and they're much more supportive. I talked to Billy and the guys and they had a great time doing the Dr. Teeth Mayhem thing. So I'm looking forward to seeing that. What I was talking about was before the current iteration of Muppets Studio, at that time, the guys I felt were not treated properly, with respect, and I felt, as they did, the writing was trying to be adult and hip, when all they had to do was be pure. And it's very difficult for people to write pure when supposedly they have to be funny and adult. And people don't understand that the best way for the Muppets to be adult and hip is to be pure. So that was then, I felt it was very bad. But the Muppets themselves, no, and the performers, no, it was always the orders given that they had to do it this way, that's what bothered me. Jarrod: Yeah, I think Leigh Slaughter who runs the Muppets now, she really has an idea of what should be done. Frank: Leigh is terrific, and I forgot the other fellow's name, I met him. Jarrod: Michael. Frank: Yeah, they're people who actually care. In the beginning, earlier on, they didn't care. It was just a franchise. That upset me, because the Muppets are in my heart and these guys are such amazing performers and they're so ****ing brilliant, and they were not treated with that respect. Now it's different. Jarrod: Is there something that you didn't work on in the last 20 years or so that you feel got close to what they should have been doing? Frank: I remember, early on, there were some videos that they did. I remember there was a very popular video on YT. Jarrod: Bohemian Rhapsody? Frank: Yeah, that was fun.

First off I just discovered both of Your channels yesterday, & I AM an absolute 120% FULL ON 1980's Kid born in 1975! So when You Ladies talk about wanting to be around for the original MUPPET SHOW airing, I GET IT, because when "I" was a kid in the 80's, I LOVED shows from the 1950's such as "DENNIS THE MENACE" "LEAVE IT TO BEAVER" "DICK VAN DYKE" & NOT TO MENTION, I loved Movies from the 1930's, like the MARX BROTHERS, EDGAR BERGEN & CHARLIE MCCARTHY (JIM HENSON'S BIGGEST INFLUENCE BTW) & the Muppet Show was based on these old 1920's/30's VAUDEVILLE COMEDIANS! So I remember EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT My Mom, Dad, & Myself would watch the MUPPET SHOW @ 8:00p.m.! I was born on December 3rd, 1975, & the MUPPET SHOW debuted in August of 1977, & I remember the MUPPET MOVIE was dedicated to Edgar Bergen! You talk about being afraid of certain MUPPETS, THE MUPPET SHOW NEWS GUY SCARED THE CRAP out of Me when I was a kid!😂😂 AND the Sax player ZOOT from the ELECTRIC MAYHEM!!😂😂 Thank You Ladies for these incredible videos, I miss the Muppets, & I sincerely appreciate You using Your platform to bring them back into the Mainstream as best you can! CHEERS!🇦🇲🎙️🎬🎭📽️
