Hey John, I am looking everywhere in the Baddely files (the organization leaves a lot to be desired) and I cannot find the prints for the PSIs. I found some in the MKIII dome and MK2 dome but they have solid backs on them. Where did you find the ones with the opening + the notch that fits the Teecees lights? Thanks
@Rchelicopterfun

@geekdomo - Sorry mate, but I can barely recall what I had for dinner last week; never mind trying to recall what sub-subfolder I found the front & rear PSIs files in from two years ago. I do remember searching and searching for some specific print files during this build, but I don't think the front & rear PSI's were two of them? Seems the dome stuff was all fairly organized and easy to find to find to the best of my recollection. It was the body and foot files where I was really playing detective for a few specific items. The price we pay for having so many build options 🙂

@@Rchelicopterfun Yea I totally get it! I read through the comments after I posted mine and saw its a running theme with these PSI. I love Baddleys work its awesome, the organization of the files leaves a bit to be desired, cant blame him as you say there are almost infinite variations. Thanks for getting back so quickly

Hi @@geekdomo I still can't find the files John is using. There are several PSI printable files in the directory, but all have closed off ends and don't look like the ones John is using. Did you find them and where? Many Thanks

No, and to be honest this significantly stalled my build. I spent literal weeks looking for them and my R2 build is stopped until I can find them. I have everything printed and painted but can't finish the head. @@andywilx8815

@@geekdomo any luck tracking these down? I've been searching through all the patreon files for the psi mounts used here and i'm having zero luck. I only see the closed off versions.

Hi John. Another great video and I'm printing the psi mounts etc next week. I have just noticed on the 3d files that the psi mounts have a solid end - and someone said it is so they are printed clear. Did you use these files and if so how did you make the solid end go. I have had a play in cura and if I lower the files 5mm the solid end doesnt print. Is that what you did or did you use different files or drill out the solid part when printed? Thanks Bobby
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun Жыл бұрын
@bluenose701 The PSI's I printed didn't have solid ends so not sure what files those are with solid ends? As was stated and shown in this video, I used some LED under counter puck light diffusers I had on hand for my PSI's that were open on both ends.

Hi Bobby, did you eventually find the files that John was using? I am having the same problem with the PSI mounts. The Mr Baddeleys files only have the one's you were talking about. I was going to lower the print also but thought I would hunt around to find a better solution. The printed droid guide v1.2 also has the files we are talking about and suggests clear filament. Regards Scott.

@@Rchelicopterfun where in the directory did you find the PSI mount files? I have searched EVERYWHERE and can’t find them. Sounds like some others have had the same problem. The only ones I find have a solid end instead of an open end.

Hey John, this is super helpful. I just got my lights in today and this made getting them connected a breeze. I did have one question about the mounts for the holo's, the files on the club site that I've been able to find don't have that servo articulation backing, just the sandwich to hold them in place. While I may not ever connect them to servos I'd like to have the option. Could you share where you got those files? Excellent work throughout, I'm building my 2nd droid and this series is incredibly useful with all the 3d printing I'm doing.

Got them in the Mr. Baddeley file folders along with all the other 3D printed files for the build as I mentioned in the first video going over resources. Go to his Main Archive, then Astromech File, then Print File, then Astromech V2 file and finally R2D2ver2Holoprojector Servo file.

@GV Not really. The whole intension of this project is to see R2 roaming about, not be inside him. But the option is always there I suppose since I still do have a set of Fatshark goggles I never use.

I did. You have to get them through the Astromech builders club which I said in the video. The link to the Astromech club is in the description.

Do you need a separate led driver for each holoprojector??
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 2 жыл бұрын
Only if you plan on powering more than one Cree LED at a time. My 3 holo-projector Cree LEDs are switched through a servo rotary switch so only one is powered (on) at a time, so I only need one driver. If you wanted to have the ability to turn them all on independent of each other, then you would need a driver for each one. The other option is to have all 3 Cree LEDs wired in series and adjust the driver's current to drive them all - but that means they would all be on at the same time. Other powering variables/options as well - comes down to how you want them controlled, how many will be on at once and using basic electrical load calculation stuff in DC parallel or series circuits to figure it out.

Where did you get the TPU print file for the servos on the holo?
@Rchelicopterfun

In the Baddely - "Print File" folder, subfolder - "AstromechV2", sub-sub folder - "R2D2ver2 Holoprojector servo led" (specific file name Servo Hinge.stl)

Can you post a link or a model number for the led driver board?? Thank you
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joseph, it's somewhat LED dependent based on the driving voltage and current, but most small hobby DC-DC buck converters with both variable voltage and variable constant current output adjustments should work for driving any of the single chip Cree/star LEDs. These are the ones I use: amzn.to/3At8iJF Keep in mind you need a DVM (digital volt meter) to set both the output voltage and output current on these little adjustable buck converters to match them to your specific LEDs.
