The reason why the animation for this episode is the way it is is because this was one of the first episodes they worked on for Cartoon Network. The others were the movie which was four episodes in one.

This was always a weird episode for me since although I think in some ways I like the early seasons of clone wars better. This one episode is animated distinctly differently from the rest of the reason, and I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe it was the one that they had the least time to do or maybe they just rendered it differently, idk. Its odd.

It's most likely because this one was one of the first episodes that was animated and rendered. A prototype of sorts I would say.

This was one of the earliest episodes animated. That detail probably hadn't been established.

There are a lot of discrepancies. Such as there being R6,R7, and R8 units in the deprives that all have R2 style domes and bodies. I’m R3’s case, I think he is just one of the first models that was modified to look a bit different. Plus he’s one of the few black colored astromechs made, so that makes him even more of a unique droid.
