I met you at Fully Charged 6 years ago just after the birth of my first child - you were a legend then you're a legend now. Genuinely top bloke, really pleased to see you're living the dream, couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Subbed.

When discussing performance cars, the only thing that truly matters is performance. If a larger turbocharger makes a car faster, then by all means, go for it. However, a peculiar gray area exists where anything electric is met with suspicion. Ultimately, enthusiasts should remain loyal to the essence of fast cars: if it’s quicker, it deserves consideration. Factors like the vehicle’s exhaust note become secondary when the primary objective is to cross the finish line first. Imagine two high-performance cars side by side at a traffic light. When the light turns green, they both accelerate. The car with superior performance emerges as the winner. In the final analysis, who cares about the power source? As battery technology and electric motors continue to evolve, it won’t be long before electric vehicles dominate the racing scene. Whether we like it or not, the future favors new technologies over the old.
@Hazell_Nutz5 ай бұрын
So well said, We have been looking at more race based EV builds but keeping thinkings cold as well as finding a battery that can output the continues power is hard but they will be available in the next few year.
@nomeru_0Ай бұрын
the gray area exists because with electric motors you're playing a completely different game. It would be like comparing race cars to race horses and saying people shouldn't be into horse racing because cars are faster. Like you're missing the entire point. If all we cared about was speed, we'd be racing jets or something. It's not all about speed, the competition is more important. Also if you cared about speed, an R32 is not the most aerodynamic chassis in the world so what is the point?
@nixter1nixter1Ай бұрын
@@nomeru_0 You make sense, my comments are primarily aimed at performance enthusiasts who value straight linee acceleration above all else, the hemi, drag racing crowd where the first to cross the finish line wins. In that scenario, as things stand today, electric motors deliver enormous amounts of torque and horsepower, things that you want for that type of racing, but those same people are also saying, never electric. That's their call, but they are running out of options as gas burners are being slowly phased out. Ten years from now things will be very different and purchasing a high acceleration vehicle will offer limited choices. Either pay half a million dollars for a V12 ICE hypercar, or choose an affordable electric. As batteries become more powerful and lighter, ICE tech will be relatively archaic compared to state of the art vehicles.
@unkindled6410Ай бұрын
Lol, youre delusional and havent actually caught up with the news if you think batteries are objectively superior to ICE in every way. The true ultimate performance would be achieved with hybridation, if all you care is numbers like some e-sports tryhard, but then again not only does EVs have cons that ICE doesnt have in the same way the opposite is also true as defenders of this trash like you only mention so one sided, true performance test which is track lap times, unrestricted ICE cars (notably unrestricted F1) do better as they can be lighter, dont lose any performance when lower on fuel unlike electrics do when batteries start running low, and suprisingly keep their range better on higher RPMs than electrics, who gloat so much about the energetic efficiency of the motors, but waste much more of their range by flooring the pedal a little bit more than what ICE cars do.
@unkindled6410Ай бұрын
Oh and about options in the future; the whole zero emission zealotry and the EU agreement BS is falling apart slowly but surely as not only people figure out how overly crunched both the cars and the infrastructre required for them are, but also figuring theyre not eco friendly at all, even if their tech were maximized, most of the worlds grids is still fossil and both the mining and factory building operations cause massive destruction to fauna and flora even more than ICE because they dont use near as much rarer metals and are also much easier to recycle. And dont even mention the extreme depreciation as the EV cars being basically rush delivered technology thats still under overly accelerated development, because an EV from last year is considerably outdated by one from this year, and updating it might as well be buying a new car with how expensive and how much needs to change.

I wasn't surprised that someone converted the Skyline to EV - it was a matter of time as older Honda Accord and Civic got converted to electric, sometimes it was more for fun, ie. how fast can you outrun somebody at the drag racing. Hell, even Kei cars which is outright crazy, even there's a few electrified Kei cars on KZbin, of a handful few with crazy launching performance.

I did one back in 2017 but was not as high end as Erik’s car.
@Diffascopes5 ай бұрын
Really curious why it was stupid to put a battery pack in the backseat instead of the trunk of the car?
@Hazell_Nutz5 ай бұрын
From a weight balance point of view the back seat was the best place which is why I did that on mine. But from a safety point of view the boot is better incase the worst was to happen but then you could argue the most likely crash is to be hit in the rear. So maybe back seat was the better option 😂
