R51 Nissan Pathfinder Diff Breather Mod

Hello and welcome back. I was asked for some cheap easy mods to do on R51 Pathfinders so here we go. Winter is coming and so is the water, so for the just in case water crossings I did a budget rear diff breather relocation, from the stock outlet up to the rear taillight giving you just over a foot of height. I thought I recorded the materials I used and how much they cost, but I didn't push the red button. I went to my local parts store and picked up,
5 feet of 5/16 hose for $1.99 a foot = $10
Pack of small hose clamps = $3
Small fuel filter, optional, keeps dust and bugs out = $5
So for under $20 you can have the piece of mind knowing you wont get water in your rear differential. Now I just need to do the same to the transmission breather................

you need to change the shut off valve to a open valve or the water will suck in, through your seals.

Problem is can't see where it is to change it, I bought the valve union for xterra so I could change it out.

I tracked breather line to rear diff and it does not have a hex nut for removal so I cannot install the breather valve so will just extend the existing line. Nissan did a decent job compared to alot of other companies here

Not yet, I looked at it and it's going to take a little more work to extend those, hopefully soon I will be able to extend them and make a video on it

Why do you need a filter? Does the stock setup have a filter as well?

Where did you find such a small filter element? I can't find anything in my local/basic/auto shops that sell such a small filter; filters I find are the same width as a D cell battery.

found it :) Search "small engine fuel filter" and they'll pop up. Got a cheap pack from Amazon for $8/10-pack.

The front goes all the way up to the air box! You’d drown before the front sucks water 😂
