Excellent work, very beautifully presented. What joy to listen to an articulate American who has more adjectives than "awesome" at his disposal and who, as an added bonus, can pronounce "Getriebeseite" properly. I knew there had to be at least one. Joking aside (for a joke it was), you should go into training full-time. I owned a 90/6 in 1975, and it was still probably the bike I loved the best.

Kind of laught when you mentioned importing the battery from Europe. I have an USA Hawker Odyssee PC650 AGM battery (+ a tool box) installed in the standard tray. Since an AGM needs a bit more voltage I have swapped the original regulator for a government spec one. Works a treat! Love these series of videos, thank you so much.

Greetings from Bavaria! Very nice videos. I own my 90/6 since 1989 and always wondered at this distinctive blap-blap-sound you can hear sometimes. Well, its the breather valve. Thx for showing me, folks. Now I have to watch the rest of your videos aswell, to have a look what I also dont know about my bike.

You guys are doing a great job on these videos, good on you for taking the time getting those camera angles just right so we can see what's going on. I'm also curious about the slight angle on the carbs, I've always set them straight up and down by eye. Thanks again!

Hi Sam, thanks very much for your kind comments. In regards to the carburetors, I don't have a scientific explanation but this is what I was taught by a great master in Germany back in the early 80's and so I have always done it this way. To the best of my knowledge, this is how they were installed at the factory. One benefit is that you gain a bit more room for your shins. There is nothing wrong with mounting the carburetors vertically. I'm simply showing how I do things and others may have a different idea about this.

Really appreciate you mentioning some of the parts you carry which are NLA. I will be ordering a few shortly now that I know where to find them. Excellent video. You make that choke lever assembly look easy. I did mine a month or so ago without benefit of your insights and it took a bit to get it right. Anxious to see your carb synch procedure.

The compression rings pushes against the exhaust as the exhaust nut is tightened? Or is there another way the exhaust is held to the exhaust port?

This video series is fantastic. I bought my first BMW, an R75/7 and I've watched all the episodes to this point to get familiar with the bike. I have a couple questions, can the starter cover be removed without taking off the fuel tank? I want to repaint the engine badges. Are there clamps available that are better looking than the worm drive clamps for the carburetors? Surely BMW didn't use those originally??? Thanks! I've placed 2 orders with you so far.

Hi, thank you for this great video. The crankcase valve breather tube- does the other end connect to anything, or does it just end there so that it get filtered air? Thanks!

What a great series of videos. Question, I have an R60/6 and a R90S. Can you elaborate on why you orient the carbs pitched inward and if that rule applies to my tow bikes as well?
@boxer2valve
@boxer2valve 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Warren. We are glad that you enjoy the videos. The main reason for the slight tilt inward is clearance for your shins. This is not as much of an issue with the slide carbs but in any case, there is nothing wrong with having the carbs positioned vertically or giving them a slight tilt. I think that it boils down to a matter of personal preference.

What is the reason for the slight tilt inward on the carburetors? Everything I have read elsewhere seems to indicate the should sit vertical when the bike is level.
@boxer2valve
@boxer2valve 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, there is nothing wrong with having the carbs positioned vertically. This is the way that I was taught to install the carbs in Germany back in the early 80's and It's always worked for me. The main reason I believe is to have a bit more clearance for the rider's legs. No harm in doing it differently!
