Awesome to see something more than the typical heavy Darkglass tones! The tight and precise tone fits perfectly in more modern pop & country songs!

Love that you went the opposite direction, it really shows that the instrument doesn’t always have to define the sound or genre. Loved the sound on the pop rock tune at the end!

Great video demo of a Dingwall. It sure is a more versatile bass than the usual Darkglass sound most people demo it with. I’ve had my Dingwall D Roc for over a year now. I play in a cover band with lots of different styles of music and using the different pick-up settings and a Helix Hx Stomp it never ceases to amaze me.

Hey thank you for this video. I especially like you you did the atypical thing and played non metal songs with this bass. I can't remember anyone else doing that before and honestly I LOVE the sound you got out of all of these! The treble is "out of the way" just like you said and you used relatively inexpensive equipment so if this bass sounds good on a laney/hartke backline it will basically sound great on anything! Great video, cheers!

My Combustion has a bit of that inevitable brr brr ding bedroom tone even on passive mode. Strangely suited to any genre. Dingwalls cut through a mix like crazy, while somehow staying out of the way and making everything else sound even bigger. My hard rock band's stage sound has never been better.

I have to say this video is what pushed me over the edge to purchase a Dingwall NG3 6 String in the same color. I play bass as a hobby at home and for my church, and I can honestly say I have played more simple music and also stepped into some heavier things like TSO covers and this bass doesn't disappoint. I know it gets the reputation of being a more metal oriented bass, but I can tell you it can play jazz, gospel, pop, classic rock, and more with ease. It was the fact that this video demonstrated how versatile the bass really is that impressed me so much and since I have been playing my Dingwall, I find myself much more inspired about my playing and I feel like I am taking my playing to a new level.

I love my NG3. Tell Ra to get the 6-way selector switch installed that exposes all 3 pickups. It's such a thick tone...

This was a great overview... I have a Dingwall Z and curious why the pickup protector plastic was still left on?

I'm a huge Korn fan and even started playing bass because i was fascinated with Fieldy's style of playing. I got one of the earliest models of a Dingwall Combustion and people always told me that the long scale is a hindrance if it comes to the Korn bass sound. So i would absolutely love to hear Ra's approach with his Dingwall Thanks for everything :) (awesome sounds btw)

Guitar is totally fine. Looks and sounds great! But magic is not there. It is in your fingers. I am absolutely sure you’d get the result of same quality with common j-bass. Or p-bass. The only difference relates to your different fillings that might (or might not ;)) impact your sound. IMHO

Good demo, as usual, but the bass itself doesn't impress me. It has a lifeless, characterless sound: sterile and uninvolving. In the final example it suddenly comes alive - hi, midrange! - but you can get that sound from any decent bass without the need to spend Dingwall money. I've no doubt that they have their place: the scooped sound is stellar for down-tuned modern metal, and its tight, even tone probably makes it a good recording bass. Beyond that, I see no reason to prefer a Dingwall other than fashionability, which is always temporary.

Im agree with you these bass are sterile and overated. The fanned frets is also a temporary fashion because people thing it sound more heavier with a lot of down tuning but its all about attitude and soul not tuning..

Not impressed, they are expensive Basses. But expensive is not always the best. Last year in August 2022 I purchased a 2013 Sandberg TT panther Macassar with the Maple back Ebony Top and matching Head stock. neck rose wood fretboard. I love wood and this bass kicks ass.
