Metal bands like Tool, Opeth, Meshuggah, & Gojira have among some of the most cerebral/spiritually substantial lyrics and meaning in all of music. You might not like the vocals, but the substance is undeniable. Hip hop and rap in general is just more accessible to the people not so much into the feeling of rage incarnate on a track. Though I find that most scholars of lyricism are willing to venture out & entertain the possibility that some of the guys growling and sounding inhuman on a mic are actually sharing substance, occult concepts, and power.

Dawg Gawd 😂😂😂! Funny as that might sound, in a way, it'd be a good way to showcase the lyrical technicalities/complexities of Hip-Hop in an almost Shakespeare-like kind of way!

Dawg Gawd lol I thought that was funny too. Two very, very different types of music and artists. G Rap is dope but he's not gonna write a song like Hurricane.

I was in the same boat as RA about black thought. I used to listen to the roots when I was younger 13-15 years old and was into his story telling style. But it wasn't till I was 22-25 did I really hear him. Black thought is easily top 10 if not too 5 for me now. But the way he talks about wanting to top each other on a track makes me think of Organzied Konfusion- prisoners of war. When Pharoahe Monch at the 2:00 mark, he owned that track. That's the type of hip-hop I dig.

I’m a huge Bun B fan. Few people can compete with Bun. Bun B can execute like crazy but he has never done what RA has done. RA destroyed that song. It was from the heart too, since it was about his dad. I love that song.

I'm not a huge Beatles fan, but I still have huge respect for them. Imagine is obviously a great, great song. I love Patti Labelle too. Also, mumble rapping is fucking awful. It's like the final nail in the coffin of hip hop. I don't agree that rap is better than the great rock legends. The music is too different to really compare like that in the first place.
