After they go down that length of the river they veer left and fly over Kelvin Grove. They were practicing two days before Riverfire. This Aviation is just seemingly effortless. We all wish we were up there too!

I was lucky enough to be working from home that day. Watched the jet flying by from the back deck. The noise was deafening but it was so exciting! Hard to tear myself away but lunch break was over, so had to get back to work! Thanks RAAF, it was magic. Top marks to the pilot. ❤

I was there up the top (the jump) in front of the crane. The sight was impressive but the sound was incredibly awe-inspiring. Unfortunately the video creators, whom I saw, may have had their vision blocked by a building when the plane did it's vertical climb.

They need Sparrows and Sidewinders, too, apparently. I assume the munitions are dummy and are just there to create the look that they think the public expects. Perhaps the drop tanks are there for the same reason? But, as said above, who knows what operational reasons there are?

As a former American Naval Aviator. F18 Echo Driver. This is not permitted. I have seen many NA's lose thier careers.. for low level passes and doing dumb shit.. According to FAA regulations, the minimum altitude an aircraft like an F-18 can fly over a populated area is 1,000 feet above the highest obstacle within a 2,000-foot horizontal radius of the aircraft, as defined by "congested area" in the regulations; this applies to most military aircraft as well.

You're not in Kansas anymore. This is Oz. River fire festival has been going for 30 years. The flight paths are planned with our civil aviation safety authority (CASA) and the RAAF. The height isn't much lower than the commercial airliners flight path to Brisbane airport.
