Thanks folks, I enjoyed this immensely. Wedgetail bristling with sensors/links and looking like it means business, maybe they should carry some defensive capabilities ? Sukhoi... such a beautiful design. And the high G manoeuvres were awesome.

I miss flying, Army technology observer YO-3A and OV-1 A model Mohawk . Total for both aircraft over 2000 hours in the YO-3A over 1300 combat time only . Vietnam only. Mohawk combat 900 hours states another 800hours.

I want to see an F-35 engine in the Super Hornet. It will never happen, but imagine the thrust-to-weight ratio; it would be insane! It would be about ~1.30 at max takeoff weight.

Sorry but the Hornet was a great buy. Viper didn't have a bvr missile at the time and also couldn't carry the harpoon. Hornet had a better radar. Classic Hornet in RAAF service was fantastic, pilots loved them and were reliable and easy to maintain.

Yes RAAF standards have dropped drastically in the past 35 years. Beards/facial hair is now accepted. Just must be groomed.
