What a beautiful movie! Perfect from every angle. The marvelous story and direction, excellent acting by Aishwarya and Chiyan. Some criticized Aishwarya for her tamil voice but I genuinely feel that Aishwarya's eyes spoke to audience at another level throughout the movie.... splendid! Magical background score and songs by AR. Cinematography at its best! Perfect editing and technicality. Such masterpiece! Kudos to Mani Ratnam Sir.

Being a hindi speaker, I still loved this movie...Vikram's presence on screen is as usual so natural and spectacular. Even Aishwarya did real justice to her role. Though Veera looked so raw, can't stop feeling much warmth and love for his character. Cinematography and music is also praiseworthy. It seems an adaptation of the Ramayana but to me it's definitely not! SP is definitely does not fit in as Rama whilst Veera (as it's said in the opening song) is a mix of Rama and Raavanan, though nicknamed Raavanan.

This movie is so richly filled with symbolism that you'll require 2-3 viewings to uncover them and still many things would remain undiscovered. The fallen Vishnu statue scene is my favourite. And there are no words to describe the striking cinematography . Aishwarya has never looked so beautiful , that too without any makeup and Vikram is just awesome. Kudos to Mani and Suhasini Ratnam and the whole team to make such a brave movie. Without any extra skin show or intimate scene, they have show the sexual tension and romantic conflict between Beeraiya and Ragini.
