Unlike many other outdoor gear reviews videos, the guy who did the filming knew his business.

Hello... Fantastic info dvd review just bought two of these in a limited edition colourways ... Hoping it'll be fantastic with a paramo alta iii over it for my winter hiking.. The other I'm keeping for commuting and leisurewear...
@WildcraftBritain Жыл бұрын
It will be very insulating under that Alta 🥵 it’s a good stand alone jacket for cold dry days and it’s a great urban jacket for cold weather 🥶 heats up quick and is light- it’s not that durable on the outer though, that lightweight fabric can rip easily on sharp edges 😉

Have you tried the fjallraven expedition Down hoodie....
@WildcraftBritain Жыл бұрын
Not had any new Fjallraven for years tbh- they tend to be @20% more RRP than equivalent brands 🤔 their Bushcraft range is fairly unique though but you pay that premium again ☺️🌀

Appreciate the video, but wanted to let you know an important thing since I had not seen it mentioned in the comments below. The audio volume is very low, to the point I think many would have a lot of trouble hearing you even at maximum volume on their devices. That's it! Cheers.

Hi, yes, (as I mentioned in the description), sadly we had a mic fail and so the sound quality was poor but I just didn’t have the time to re-shoot ☺️ it’s a grand jacket and I will look at another review when they change it again 👍🏻 thanks for he input and enjoy your outdoors time ⛰🌀

@@WildcraftBritain I’m 5ft7 and 75kg. Should I choose size Medium or size Large to wear a sweater underneath ? Thank you.
@WildcraftBritain Жыл бұрын
@@happy-wr8cr difficult one 🤔 probably a medium but perhaps a large depends on how much room you like ☺️ Fits such a personal preference 😉 enjoy your outdoors time, Andy 🏕️⛰️🌀

Just got the pine one, the inside looks like its marked all way throughout is it supposed to?
@WildcraftBritain3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jacob- I'm not sure what you mean tbh? What kind of mark? Mine has the outer material on the inside, so to speak, so no mark...
@philcrocker83603 жыл бұрын
What size chest and waist are you? And what size jacket are you wearing in the video? The size chart puts me as a medium for chest, but a large for waist. Cant decide what size to go for.

It's a pity that they are using recycled down in these, try to get new old stock if you can. Definitely warmer with the previous versions, I suspect whatever processes are used to recycle the old duvets etc are having an adverse effect on loft. There's a place for recycling, but it's not worth the compromise with your safety in the hills.

Interesting Arch- I have asked Rab for a comment on this but they have not got back to me yet- what are you basing this on? 🤔 In theory it should be no difference, as “fill power” is a standard that is assessed in a standard way, so to speak ☺️
@sussurus Жыл бұрын
@@WildcraftBritain I can only base this from what I've seen looking at some of these jackets online but the older ones appear to be 750 fill power whereas the newer, recycled down version is 700? I am not 100%, but I've seen both I think.
@bronek77299 ай бұрын
@@sussurus You are right I seen a post on Reddit on this jacket from 3 years ago and there was indeed 750 fill of hydrofobic down.

How does the cirrus compare to this jacket?
@WildcraftBritain3 жыл бұрын
that depends on the cirrus jacket 😊 as a rule, the warmth to weight ratio is higher in down but it suffers from damp reducing insulation value, (a wet down jacket offer no insulation, in fact it removes heat, while a wet synthetic will offer some protection, but not very much)! If its the cirrus jacket I review, I would say the cirrus is a lighter insulation and works better as a mid layer than the Microlight Alpine, which can be used as a stand alone jacket in colder weather, (given the hood)- they are slightly different in their roles but there is cross over- its a tough one as it depends on what your like in cold, but the Cirrus is for warmer weather, (unless its used as a mid layer in real cold when the Microlight might end up cooking you)! Hope this helps, its a complex question to answer 😊 enjoy your outdoors time, Andy ⛰🏕
