It's funny how The One Reborn is on this list because my friend and I talked about Bloodborne last night, and we came to the conclusion that Yahar'Gul as a whole is probably one of the creepiest areas lorewise. The whole thing about people being kidnapped to be sacrificed for the ritual that eventually spawns the One Reborn is interesting, but it being rendered incomplete or being a sort of 'fake' Great One winds up being a very bad thing for it and the Bell Maidens around it. ... The Covetous Demon actually does have a couple of interesting attacks that are indeed threatening. If you're standing next to his middle, he does a devastating roll attack that he can repeat quickly if you're still in the danger zone. He also has an attack he only uses at low health where he grabs you and swallows you. Then he spits you out with no equipment. No rings, no armour, no weapons, nothing. It's all still in your inventory, but it made for a cool moment the first time I beat it. Ended up having to spend the next minute punching the thing to death. Felt pretty satisfying at the time.

I know these kinds of "unpopular opinion" comments are a but overdone but every time I see a "worst soulsborne bosses" ranking list on youtube, Micolash is always on it. I certainly don't love his fight at all, but I certainly don't think it's the worst fight in Bloodborne, or even all that bad of a fight. The witches, celestial emissary, living failures, and Rom are all much worse in my opinion. Micolash is more middle of the road for me. I don't hate his fight by any means, but I don't love it either. It's a little to lengthy and so I get that people might get frustrated with that, but it doesn't take too terribly long if you know what you're doing.

Yeah, but that bossfight basically says: "Great! You've reached the end game and learnt to use the mechanics of the game. Now throw all of it out of the window and exploit the AI as much as you can!" The game forces you to use the dodge mechanic (which is pretty bad because the developers wanted you to deflect attacks in Sekiro) and to constantly run under his legs without the lock on (in fact locking on just hinders you and it really shouldn't happen). Now that you're not using the lock on, you cannot see much of what the boss is doing because he's too big and you can pretty much only see his legs. Oh, did I mention it was one of those bossfights where you cannot deplete the boss's poise to deliver a killing blow? Yeah, we absolutely needed to get rid of another mechanic, making the fight even longer and boring. I liked the boss's design and what it represented, but the fight was just awful. I'd say it is up there with the Bull as tied for the worst bossfight in Sekiro

Covetous demon is slightly underwhelming, but it does have a cool mechanic, where it can take your armor and weapons and you have to beat the entire fight with your fists. This makes the fight a lot longer and slightly more difficult if it happens to you, so I think the developers intended for you to lose your equipment at the beginning.
@dannyboi58874 жыл бұрын
That mechanic is made absolutely pointless once you realise that he doesn't actually take your stuff away, he just un-equips it. 15:20 - "The Ancient Wyvern cannot be fought directly." That isn't quite true. The first time I played through Dark Souls 3, I killed the Ancient Wyvern without using the plunging attack, instead hacking away at him as soon as he landed. As I quickly learned, his head has less defense than his feet, so I just figured I had to wait for the right openings to attack his head. I did just barely enough damage with that method for the alarm bells not to go off in my brain that something was wrong about my technique. Overall, he was still a pretty easy fight that way (although long), and I'm certain the enemies on the route up to the plunge spot gave me more trouble on subsequent playthroughs than that initial fight did. On that note, I also did the same thing with Yhorm the Giant, meaning I fought him with my regular weapon on the first playthrough since I was too focused on the boss himself to even notice the Storm Ruler at the end of the room. Once again, the alarm bells didn't go off because I did barely enough damage for me not to question it; I just assumed he was resistant to physical damage. Additionally, I also killed Wolnir on the first run without attacking his glowing bracelets, since I just assumed they were for decoration rather than being weak points. I guess I can be an idiot sometimes, haha. Final comment: I enjoyed the video, but I strongly disagree with Demon of Hatred being on the list, as he's a tough and engaging fight despite requiring a different playstyle than most of the Sekiro bosses. In my opinion, fighting him is more fun than literally ANY Dark Souls 2 boss (not including the DLC; I haven't played it).

The Covetous demon actually has one attack to it that makes me very happy that it’s so easy to defeat. And in fact I think that might be one of the reasons why they made it so slow, it has a very very low chance of doing an attack where it swallows you. Now this On its own doesn’t do much damage, but when it spits you out it has ‘taken all of your armor’ I don’t remember if it takes your weapons too, because I personally never experienced this but I have seen videos of people talking about this surprisingly dick move. The worst of it is I think if you then die to it you never get your armor back.

Mainly because I was having trouble navigating through the slow moving water while trying to avoid the holes and deal with the clergy knights.

Another thing, Pinwheel has the 2nd lowest boss health in the game, only being higher than the ASYLUM DEMON. lol.

I don’t think you should’ve put a boss from Sekiro here since it is so fundamentally different than Dark Souls (Even more than Bloodborne). I’m not saying it doesn’t have similarities with Dark Souls, because it does. I just don’t see it being similar enough to be considered a Souls game instead of a Souls-like game. Aside from that, I will agree with the boss you chose for it. It just feels like a boss idea that was scrapped from Dark Souls 3, which doesn’t have synergy with the gameplay of Sekiro at all.

It's a real shame about the Bed of Chaos, since the backstory it's connected to is very unique and intriguing. The Witch of Izalith used the power of her own soul to feed The First Flame, a magic fire which brought a sense of peace to the world. The attempt caused a more violent flame which created demons. And at the core was The Bed of Chaos, the resting place for the fallen Lord... Aaaaaand sadly this resting place is a few springs short in its mattress, signified by the decaying maze of ruin you could outright die in which is likely given her attack range. You probably wouldn't be able to kill her if it didn't save your progress when you destroyed a core at one of the corners. You sadly wouldn't be able to burn the tree since she attacks with fire! We all knew who would be the number one pick. It was so bad that the director expressed embarrassment about how unfair it was. So no list of the worst bosses of the 2010s decade would be complete without her, to the point that TheDeModcracy put her on his own list. Praise the sun for Ludwig and Gael for helping balance things out.

I largely agree with this list. Yet you always should remember that in order for other bosses to stand out as well as different fighting experiences, these bosses still have their place. So I do like all of them in some way.

It's not unexpected you kept the DS2 bosses to the end of the video because some bosses didn't have much time put into them. Personaly speaking, I think DS2 is a very good game unlike others who'll trash it to no end, and the rat king did give me some creeps with his furry bod and red eyes, but some bosses feel like quota fillers.

I feel kind of bad for Pinwheel. Well I mean anyone that knows it's lore does too, but in this case I mean it's reputation. It's so weak because it was actually meant to be the first boss past the tutorial, but they changed it up to where you're meant to go through the Undead Burg before the Crypt, and they never rebalanced the boss.
@Beatstruck4 жыл бұрын
Interesting, did the developers actually say that? They clearly did not want you to continue past the graveyard in the final build of the game, what with the skeletons being so difficult to take on initially, so I always found it odd that Pinwheel was that underpowered.
@rosariocrimson4 жыл бұрын
@@Beatstruck I found out secondhand (probably from VaatiVidya), so I don't remember the exact source material, but it was reliable. It turns out the Painted World was also the original starting area, and Priscilla was to act as DS's version of the Maiden in Black as your source of leveling up and such.

Back like one year ago I lost the fun playing on my pc so I bought an Xbox and started playing Dark Souls 3. Since then I completed all Souls Borne games inc Sekiro and even bought a PS4 just to play Bloodborne. Those games really captured the essence of being difficult for all the right reasons (most of the time). Great list dude

The Dragon King from Demon's Souls would be somewhere on my list
@devastatheseeker99674 жыл бұрын
Let me say it a little louder for people in the back SEKIRO IS NOT A SOULS GAME. Seriously stop comparing it to the series. Bloodborne is the only title close to being a souls game. Sekiro plays differently, has different progression, etc. It is not a soulslike.

Number 1's gonna be Bed of Chaos isn't it
@lovepirate144 жыл бұрын
The Bed Of Chaos on my first playthrough of the game was the worst experience I've ever had in my entire life of playing video games. Nothing has ever made me angrier. I literally threw myself at it for like 3-4 hours. The run back from either of the bonefires was so mind numbing. When I finally beat it I went and killed the last boss in one shot, probably 25 minutes, and turned my Playstation off for 3 weeks.

Problem with pinwheel is that he seems to be scaled for a different level. He would feel better placed closer to being much earlier, like around gaping dragon. The enemies in his area however feel more like they should be placed around (before or after) annor londo.

I don't know how Demon of Hatred is on this list. I think it was one of the best bosses in Sekiro. I would have put either the Owl fight in the past due to the, 2-4 hits and and dead horseshit, or the Dragon because that's a set piece that has a health bar, but if you manage to die during the fight, it's a ruined set piece with a health bar. I would also put Rom on this list over the Reborn, because it's another boss that does not move, to keep you on your toes it surrounds you with a bunch of 1-hit kills which is just unfair and bad. Also not enough Dark Souls 2. Like I find Prowling Magus infinitely worse than the covetous demon.
@Landjrin4 жыл бұрын
Honestly I don't think anything on this list needed to be from Sekiro, I can name 10 bosses from the other souls games that are worse than even the worst Sekiro boss.
@PP-iq7co3 жыл бұрын
It would be cool if they made like a reverse orstein and smough with the one reborn, like after he takes half of his health he splits in half with the part with his body on it stays in place and the back half chases you

I think the reason Pinwheel is so weak, is because he is the boss of the Catacombs, which can be accessed pretty much as soon as you leave the tutorial area. So he could be the second boss you'll face in the game. The problem, of course, is that you would have to get through the catacombs first, which is hard as shit, so most players put it off until they gained some levels. And by that point they are completely outleveling Pinwheel. rip him

Am I the only one that likes Micolash's boss fight? Or at least doesn't hate his running about? I find it to be a nice change of pace. The only thing I have against Micolash's fight is the final phase. The arena at that point is too barren, and it makes dealing with a call beyond extremely frustrating. Other than that, I actually like his fight.

The Capra Demon was one of the hardest early game bosses for me on my first playthrough, but since then it's become one of the easiest in the game. Literally the only thing that makes it hard is the tiny area you fight it in, once you learn to deal with that it's basically just a normal enemy... which is exactly what it is later on.
@FinalFerak124 жыл бұрын
Im surprised The Ceaseless Discharge didnt make the list. Always strikes me as a chore to deal with rather than the challenge of a Soulsborne Boss.

I don't like souls games but I do like a lot of games that have heavy influences of soulsgames like Dead Cells and Hollow Knight. The concepts in the game are great, the problem is that it just frustrates me too much (mostly because of the slow pace) and I don't have time to fully sink my time in it to improve, despite the quarantine rn. But Dead Cells is fire!
@Inferno1444 жыл бұрын
I do wonder what the conversation was for the Ancient Wyvern fight. Every other dragon fight before in Souls had been epic in scale, taking on a mythical being known for its destructive power. Yet they made it a one hit kill drop attack. I actually want to know the reason why they did that.

I don't play the Soulsbourne games I just like this weird British guy
@gingermcgingin17334 жыл бұрын
The reason Pinwheel is so easy is because it's supposed to be the second boss you face, & you're supposed to fight it very early on. However, you'll only fight it if you take a certain, easily overlooked path, so you'll more likely than not accidently massively overlevel yourself by the time you fight it.

It's so weird that some of the worst bosses are the most fascinating people. The Old Iron King, The Covetous Demon, Wolnir, The Rotten (and the Sunken King within them), the Bed of Chaos (and the Witch of Izalith within her), Ceaseless Discharge and Micolash especially. Even people like the Dragonriders and the Gank Squad. I would rather read about them than fight them. Also, Iwan Rheon would make an amazing Micolash.

Fairly certain Pinwheel is so easy because it's intended to be a (potentially) mid-game boss. Like obviously barely anyone does the Catacombs unless they've already beaten Anor Londo and are going all the way to Nito, but I think From Software intended people to be able to check it out early-ish and at least get the Rite of Kindling.
@TheMightyGiantDad4 жыл бұрын
The One Reborn's death animation also causes SO much lag. I remember my game was literally running at 2 FPS for a full minute when it died. Hard disagree on Covetous Demon. He covet's Mytha, the Baneful Queen, has some sick lore behind him, and he can eat you and MAKE YOU NAKED. 10/10 boss.

I've recently finished a randomizer run and one of the best things of it was not having to fight Bed of Chaos (I found Nito instead). However I had to fight Manus 5 times and Artorias 3 times... P.S. Pinwheel is easy, I agree, but differently from Covetous Demon, Pinwheel can be fought early in the game when it can kill you. Moreover it gives a very useful item, while Jabba gives you...?
@KaoruMzk4 жыл бұрын
Pinwheel is indeed a joke boss, he’s based off of a comedy sketch in Japan. And to make it even more of a joke they even give you an overpowered summon just before the fight.
