I knew that any "AI" devices would be total scams seeing how AI still is half-baked. Until AI is consistent and reliable, then there is no way I would spend money on any of these devices. We all saw the demo and people already started mentioning all the red flags. We need to ask why silicon valley has moved to copy the corporate game dev community where they release unfinished products and expect consumers to lap it up?
@matthewdekker60647 ай бұрын
I think Dave is probably right in saying that these companies needed to release the devices early once they heard that Google and Apple are releasing their own AI programs soon. I bet at the start of these projects, the creators had high hopes for what could really be done on these devices, but after plenty of tinkering, etc., they've gotten them to the state they're currently in, which isn't great, but now they've already spent so much money on their development that if they wait to release them until after Google and Apple release theirs, they're just not going to end up making any money. So they released them in this unfinished state because it was basically the only way they could possibly make some money back on the project - and still probably won't be profitable, but it's better than just wasting 100% of it. And maybe they totally plan on continuing to work on things, so the devices will get better and better, but they needed to show them off now to get some interest from people before Google/Apple enter the fray. If they waited, interest would probably be near 0 because these devices can't do what Google/Apple's AI can probably do from within your actual phone. At least, not yet.
@DanKaschel7 ай бұрын
I don't think this is quite true. In my opinion, a good AI pin is possible right now, but it would take enormous expertise and expense to develop for a market that hasn't been proven. It’s a weird trajectory these AI gadget guys are on. The phone has subsumed GPS, camera, watches and mp3 devices, among others. Those devices are the NFT of AI. They don't serve a purpose but every AI enthusiast tries to sell you one.

Why not make it a smart waych like device??

You could adjust the volume with one hand by holding down the button then rolling the rabbit along the table..

@@sammyjohnson5596I think he means that he is early to the video. He clicked on it after 29 seconds after it got uploaded. It's one of those weirdos that gets kicks by being first to a KZbin video.

You're missing the point! This is a TOY. A TOY. That's what it is. It's a $200 tech novelty that will be a collectible memento of the early days of AI. For rabbit, this is a data collection operation. YOU are training the model. YOU are making it capable. That's why they don't charge you to use it. This is a quirky, fun, toy that will lead to better things later. Let it be what it is, and enjoy the ride.

Called it as soon as it was announced. I felt like a wet blanket telling people what I thought when people at work were excited about it, but I don't feel so bad now as I probably saved them some $$$

If there is ever a time I need a review from one of the best reviewers is when a newly released product goes on the market. I hope this will not be a trend as you are one of my top reviewers.

You guys should look into the guy that runs the company and his prior peddling for crypto, green energy, metaverse. Basically ticking every fomo box.

I’m still waiting for mine to be delivered. But no matter how or good or bad it is - I don’t really care, because they gave me and everyone who bought the R1, a free year of Perplexity Pro - which rocks!

the rabbit r1 is an android 14 device and the ui is literally just an app called "rabbit launcher", the apk should be available soon

To answer your question Dave. The reason apple and google won’t make a dedicated device is cause we already have them. The watch the phone the Goggles glass whatever you wanna call it having a dedicated device is pointless

the way you use this is literally identical to how you use a phone for voice assistants as well, like the side button for siri is LITERALLY in the same place
