As a guy who's been using guitar synths since the late 80's I've never had an issue with just buying a synth rack and just getting the authentic sounds I needed. I understand the ease of incorporating it on your pedal board but it still sounds simulated. It sounds good but It's a fun box and I prefer the real deal. Still buying one... for medicinal purposes you understand.
@johnsmits24944 жыл бұрын
That’s it’ , a fun box. Like buying a $250 Casio synth/ keyboard, cool diversion, but the simulations don’t always hit 80-90% of the original sound. Also why does Boss always in these types of pedals have so many hi-fi sounds???
@Motocicleiros2 жыл бұрын
With all respect, saying that a 1980s guitar synth rack is better than a 2020s synth pedal is like trying to compare an IBM card computer with a modern PC (and say that the old IBM is better). It can only be a joke. I understand anyone who have spent thousands of dollars in expensive equipment can get mad when they release a small box that does exactly the same thing for less than $200 and that yet can be used with a $100 guitar, but it's Life. Finally, I can ensure that anyone who tells can spot if the sound is coming from a Roland rack or from a Boss pedal when everything is all mixed down into a song, is lying. Anyway, the _only_ reason why in the 1980s they used hexaphonic pickups, racks and all that sh*t is because there wasn't available technology at the time to do it with a pedal. Otherwise we wouldn't be having this conversation.

On the contrary. I was hoping Boss would make just as good or better sounds&selections than the ElectroHarmonix do but its just not as good. They seem to duplicate from the same selection which are in their other pedals such as GR55. Thats dissappointing so hopefully they can let the user download his preferences from a growing selection down to the pedal. Presets would be good also so there wouldn't have to be a lot of crawling on the floor for each song. The 'freeze' mode on it sounds like something I want to test though.
@trollslandan5 жыл бұрын

Fantastic playing, incredible rifts and guitar skills, so very impressive, and that pedal is fantastic. I first heard a Roland guitar synthesizer played at Opryland USA about 1989 by an outside solo performer, and was blown-away. WOW, I had never heard those sounds from a guitar player ever before. So as a guitar player, I "had" to get one. So I soon purchased the new GR1 (at considerable cost) , played many performances with it. Although the tracking "had issues" back in those days, it still "impressed" my audiences as well. I later bought the GR30, but gradually lost interest because of continued delayed-latency tracking. So now, years later, I find myself "drooling" again over this phenomenal product. Thank you for the terrific demonstration!

Hey Bea, this might be a bit of a faux pas, but I wanted to recommend you check out The Pedal Zone. He does this sort of synthy ambient stuff, and I think you would really dig it.

With respect to Bea, Stefan's review is the best out there. A tour de force.

I guess mainly with chords this apparatus can be Evaluated on how good are the effects that it does. Really nice demo. Congrats. As always boss is innovating or reinnovating its products,

It's a pity he does not play longer with this preset to hear if it really sounds like PM !

The 80's called and said they want this pedal so they can sound more like the 80's :) Seriously though, that is a sick pedal. I recently watched a movie with a score by Tangerine Dream, and I'm impressed at how well this nailed the authentic synth tones. Now there's _definitely_ no reason for keytars to exist!

fantastic review. I have been researching how to utilize my guitars and bass to create various sounds, pads, and swells for use in creating electronic music. This turned out to be an excellent review of what looks like an essential pedal to add to my gear.

get this in the hands of Paul Gilbert. He always stated how he wanted to play piano/keyboard chords on guitar. well Paul, here it is!
@Andreorsel5 жыл бұрын
That has nothing to do with sound. Playing piano/keyboard like chords on the guitar has to do with fingerings, you need to strech a lot, Listen/look at Allan Holdsworth.

André Orsel has everything to do with sound. The man also has big hands, that should help
@Andreorsel5 жыл бұрын
@@thunderstruckpiper, why should a sound help to play a certain chord voicing? If you can't play certain voicings no sound in the world will fix that.

I did like your video, but one comment I would make is that it would have been helpful to have a side screen to see how you were changing your settings for each patch because I’m not really sure how you were achieving some of those sounds. Also, I still have yet to find a more detailed breakdown that you had mentioned in the video, as well as a bass usage for this pedal. I just purchased it last week and still trying to find my way around it, but so far from what i’ve heard you produce in the segment let me know that it is worthwhile. Thanks so much, Tom

So does this use the same hardware and DSP as the SY-300 or is this a different beast altogether? Love the idea of the 300 but £500 is too rich for me so this little guy at £179 is looking like a great bet!
