Rabun County sheriff arrested | FOX 5 News

Rabun County Sheriff Chad Nichols is facing criminal charges. The GBI arrested Nichols on Friday, charging him with sexual battery, public indecency and violation of oath by a public officer. The incumbent is facing a challenger in the June 18 runoff election.

Departments are forced to hire and promote these people and this is what you usually get. I remember as a Corrections Officer, the county that I worked for was forced to hire a group of minorities as part of the affirmative action program. two of these were nursed through the academy and eventually hired as corrections officers at the jail where I worked at. they both lasted about six months and one day while i was working the general alarm went off and the warden's voice came over the loud speaker for everyone to remain in place. members of the sheriff's internal affairs showed up and it was no surprise to see our two minority corrections officers in handcuffs being lead out of the facility. I later learned that both of them had set up an organization among the inmates and would bring in drugs and prohibited items and sell them. One of the minorities officers had $3500 waded up in his sock when he was searched.

I'm surprised they didn't circle wagons, deny all allegations, and make statements that will shortly will be proven false. That's usually the standard for these types of people. Maybe he doesn't have a great union or the evidence is overwhelmingly heinous they can't spin it and lie. Either way, it is good to see some accountability in law enforcement where usually there is none.
