Great advice! And also to see the mother and sister come up and try to blame the guy on top of everything. Apparently he's trying to kill her and he has some sort of black box in the woods blah blah blah. Been 20 years single and man the peace and quiet I get is unimaginable

It's impossible to tell reliably, where drug abuse ends and mental illness begins. Also, both feed upon the other. Either way, it's sad what opioids have done to a great country and how hard it is to get mental health help. Having said that, I don't think there's any other choice here but get a restraining order for the wife.

I think she showed him something, the video was edited, at 16:02 it goes from her scrolling like a madman to a clip of him handing the phone back to her. He doesn't say anything about whatever it was that he saw and instead begins talking about her giving the kids back to him so I'm assuming that it wasn't great evidence.

The mom is a nutter. Acting like him hiding her addiction was some form of abuse. I think most loving spouses would try to hide such things from the in-laws. It’s a way of shielding your family from outside judgement. In-laws like her are insufferable and make any kind of marriage impossible. She gives me terrible flashbacks, I don’t want to wish harm on anyone, but if she happened to stumble in front of a speeding bus, I don’t think many people would be too heartbroken over it, then again I wouldn’t want the bus driver to deal with that mess, so that’s out I suppose.

People lie all the time. And the mother very openly admitted that her daughter has multiple problems. But like any parent with a child they love, it's easier for her to assign responsibility and guilt to someone else. Partially because admitting her daughter is in the wrong means that she might have failed as a parent.

Dude for real. I did a week in jail when i was arguing (not heatedly) with my wife outside when she dropped the vacuum wand (avoidance cleaning the van) started screaming bloody murder, turned on her heels and ran into the house, locking herself inside with the kids. I was outside the door. Dumbfounded like wtf…I wasn’t even upset yet. Then I hear her upstairs screaming into the phone (kiddos window was open and they were terrified) to the police that I threatened to kill her and I was beating the door down and trying to throw rocks through the window. 5 cruisers show up. See all intact windows. Door, unmolested. Me crying at the front door after seeing the cops, because I had never been so betrayed. They treated me like an animal. For a week. I had no money. No phone numbers. No underwear. Advised to just plead guilty to the judge on the little screen as I wore the psycho-Gumby suit. With sudden interruption of my psych meds. No one gave AF. Didn’t matter that nothing she said made sense. I was a veteran getting psychological help so I probably did it, ya know?

could be meth, could be genetic mental disorders + meth. my dad had similar paranoid thoughts sober & high. he had bipolar disorder & would say things like my mom would take all of his shoes out of state in the middle of the night to some warehouse, have the seams messed with, and bring them back before he wakes up so his shoes would bother him. he’d think someone stole his jacket to stretch it out on purpose so it’d be too big. he told me & my brother growing up that the government watches us through the tv when the black border appears on the screen, and instilled that paranoia into us. we were in middle school when we realized you can zoom in & out to create the border or make it disappear so he had to be lying to us lol. that’s just some of what he’d say even sober.

However It seems mom is more interested in placing blame on someone for the daughters addiction. If he has custody he's responsible for them. If she has them against his will he's supposed to report them as kidnapped. The school only knows that they aren't coming and that he is the parent. Generally they would have investigated and told him he needs to take steps. Both parents if they both have custody. If the kids just keep my showing up, yes they may press charges. You can't just say "well I don't have them, grandma took them" or everyone who didn't want to send their kids to school would just use that. They can't charge grandma if she doesn't have custody over them. But if he goes to court and presents evidence of what's going on they will probably dismiss the case. If he does something to resolve it. Which is usually going to court and getting a writ to get your kids back since you have to legal custody.
