Really liked Ashely’s point about better mental health education for children and young adults in schools
@ottolandin Жыл бұрын
I wish they knew more about schizoaffective disorder in schools while I was growing up. I felt so much better since people knew that I had the condition and they treated me right. my adhd goals made me cry, because I could never acheive my goals and I was critizised heavily for that. now I know that wether I acheive my goals or not, I matter. I 'm actually doing better at achieving my goals by not having to meet them.

thank you for this! I've always loved you acknowledging that race and social class play a role in your treatment, but this is another level!

This was brilliant - thank you very much. While I absolutely know this is not a menu where we request episodes from you, I would just like to say that I'd love to hear a similar interview about what it is like to be Indigenous and live well with schizophrenia, as I'm sure that has its own host of related issues and worries. Certainly in Canada, but also in other places where Indigeneity is socially stigmatized.

Wouldn't really listen to statistics. Experience is the best teacher. I know in the mental hospital I went to here in the south of US there were a lot of black healthcare workers, and they treated the black patients bad themselves. I felt sorry for them.

@@ana_lynn_w2959 U need to quit being so hateful cause yur gonna get back hate. etbadaboum didn't mean anything degratory or hateful by saying "blacks". If u can't see that then u got issues. Idk why u feel so powerless about w/e is bothering u, but w/e it is u need to realize it and don't expect anything from ppl. Especially to have to talk a certain way in order not to offend b/c all yur doing is taking away ppl's freedom of speech b/c of your own personal insecurities.

Omg really race has to be brought in here too 🤦🏻♂️ btw this whole conversation sounds really racist, why should a person's color determine their service towards you or why would you mention that having no implicit bias that youd be treated differently by a person of different color. Just so I won't be called out for white privalage, I'm from Africa where we are minority (less than 6 % of the population).
@333zekiel4 жыл бұрын
u are a white person from africa and this conversation is about being black in america. keep ur opinions to urself. being black affects every aspect of our lives and how we are treated and u, a WHITE person whos not even from this country, will never understand that. being a "minority" where ur from doesnt make u somehow an expert on the black experience and u do not get to deny antiblack racism being built into the fabric of american society. being a white person in africa doesn't make u oppressed and it sure as hell doesn't give u an authority to speak on american antiblack racism. stop inserting urself into these conversations. and if u actually care, look up systemic racism. should be very informative for u.

@@333zekiel you're problem ezekiel is that YOU are racist. Get over your self. There is no such thing as "systemic racism", but is a cultural construct in order to incite a race war. If you want to understand why there are injustice in the world, then read the Bible and see what Jesus has to say. He never mentions anything about any "systemic racism". If you do not regard the words of Jesus, then you too shall perish.
