A well-timed video for me as I've been tapering into my first Olympic distance in abut 5 years. I've had several discussions with my wife, who believes I should have totally stopped for a full week before the race, but I think I've done pretty much what you describe here (which is reassuring). I guess I'll find out on Sunday. Thanks for the video.

Definitely would not recommend fully stopping. Your body appreciates staying active and even keeping up some intensity, with the key being a reduction in volume.

True! Last days before race day I feel weak and tired. But, then, flying during the race!!! 💪🏼

One of the things I love the most about triathlon? Eating. It feels so good and deserved.

can you make a video how long should I rest after a race day?

Just have to trust the process…. I always hate it, but definitely enjoy the benefits 🙂

What a coincidence! I'm starting a taper today, for my first ever triathlon in two weeks.

Sometimes I just treat the smaller races as training days

I often like the tapering workouts, they are short , playful to do. In the beginning of the competition week I often bicycle 10x40/20 s with warmup and cool down. Day before competition I often do one workout with intervals 1 min z3 20 s z5 but it shall be acceleration and high cadence.3:40 z2 . Love those days Marie-Louise

Thanks, that was just the video I needed. I'm doing my ultra running debut next weekend and I've been a bit sick and forced to rest this week. Que: niggles and tightness in my right leg and a worried mind...

Good to know the random niggles when tapering are normal. I get them and am usually going "wth?".
