I've watched a few coilover videos since I bought my EM2 and this one was easily the most helpful because you mentioned things and covered potential problems NOBODY else mentioned. It's clear you know what you're doing and talking about and this is the help I need. 👍🏼

My Maxpeedingrods Coilovers came with tophats on all 4. Saved me a ton of extra steps. Mine are unbolt old ones slide in new ones. Didnt have to worry about taking a spring to the face or nuts. 😂

How low did your maxpeedingrods drop you on your 7th gen? Mine didnt drop the front hardly at all so I ordered some custom shorter softer springs for the front that'll come in a few days
@colinjr99533 жыл бұрын
@@TorbCraft let me know how that goes might have to do the same for my 7th gen or just go with a different brand
@TorbCraft3 жыл бұрын
@@colinjr9953 I put them on. Maxpeedingrod spring is 70.5mm I.D 230mm tall and 10k spring rate. I bought custom springs from them for $30 a piece. Went with 70.5mm I.D 200mm tall and 8k spring rate. I was able to max them out and get real low upfront and it rides sooo much better. 10k was absurdly stiff, 8k is perfect. Not too stiff but not too soft. I love it. My next issue is just how soft the rear is. Its better than stock but still soft. I'm gonna try ordering 10k spring rate springs for the back from the 8k current springs. Stock springs are 150lb front / 250lb rear. So the rear is supposed to be stiffer due to being a FWD. Maxpeeding rods come as 556lb front / 446 rear. They would be ideal if swapped back and forth but they have different spring inner dimensions so they don't fit. A design flaw honestly. Rear is too soft and front is too stiff. Most 7th gen civic people run 8k front 10k rear. Hope this helps! :)

I just got some racelands but why are the back springs loose when you put the top hats on? How would you adjust it because if you lower it wouldn’t the spring just be loose?
@ballsoutperformance2 жыл бұрын
Its easier to assemble them if you have the spring adjustment at the loosest or (lowest) setting. You notice, i adjusted it once the strut hat was on. I couldve ran them on the car like that though. It just woudve been super slammed

Thats interesting. I had an issue with too much toe in with the extended outers. I had to end up cutting them to shorten them. If yours is toed out with the extended outers, im not sure why that would be.

Hey I have an 04 civic dx 1.7. I have 195/50/15 rim, tire. Lots a gap.. what you suggest... coilovers? I dont wanna raise the car or lower too much..
@ballsoutperformance3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, just seen your post. It depends. If you dont want to spend a lot of money, you can just do a nice spring. Eibach makes great springs. They run around $220 for a kit. The Prokits are around 1.2" drop and the Sportlines are around 2" drop. Ive used Eibachs on many of my cars with great success. Theres really no point in full coilovers unless you just want adjustability.
