I had people who got them to put on daily drivers. They are great for lowering but don’t expect a soft ride. They are great for track use. If your looking to lower your car but keep ride quality go for lowering springs or higher end coils overs. The max speeding rods last a good time my friend has them on his focus and 2 1/2 years later they still ride good however the paint is cheap and will chip off easy. Don’t go for the 200$ one get the 300$ with adjustable dampener. Once you get them the first week will be horrible but once you break them in the will get better. And before install them put anti seize on it and lube around the top so it doesn’t clunk or squeak. I was gonna put them on my 05 wrx but I don’t track it I daily drive it so please consider lowering springs if you care about ride quality. And to those people saying it’s junk you never owned them nor tested them. Do your research before you spread misinformation about them.
@80s_Boombox_Collector4 жыл бұрын
Ebay has so many made-up brands of coilovers. The same Chinese factory making 20 different fake brands. Sorry but $500 isn't going to get you a good set of coilovers. Their damper valving will be poor quality, and they probably have never been track-tested by anyone with real experience. Some of them don't even tell you what the spring rate is, much less allow you to choose your own rates.
@danielcastaneda78014 жыл бұрын
One thing I did love about the Maxpeedingrods was that when I asked the seller to supply me with adjustable dampers (i originally had the non adjustable), they sent me some for about 80 bucks, which was a surprise considering they're eBay coilovers lol

80's Boombox Collector that’s why it’s called “budget” and I bought race land before and Max speeding rods befor to test. Pretty similar but the eBay ones have cheaper paint and you will have to lube them up before installing. And I used them for my Subaru Outback for track use and the work great for the price. Don’t expect them to be as good as 500+ coils your trying to compare. Next time actually buy the product and test it out before you spread out misinformation you boomer.

I can buy 10 sets of cheap coilovers with 2years warranty each for the same price as one expensive set. Of course, the expensive ones are better, but id say ebay coils are definitely worth their price. I had cheap coils on my first car (mk5 gti) and never ran into any issues with it. Adjustability was great, and they even installed them for me for only 40 euros extra (they weren't technically ebay coilovers since I didnt get them on ebay, but they are the same price and quality as ebay ones). If you're on a tight budget, or your car just isn't worth expensive coilovers I dont see how you could go wrong, especially if they offer two year warranty. 200 bucks for 2 years guaranteed seems like an absolute steal to me.

Sometimes you get something that fits the need and works just fine, other times you get something that doesn't fit, or doesn't actually work as described. So... Customer reviews tell you everything. And if you buy something that doesn't have a customer review... Please review it once your bought and tried it out. For the sake of everyone else out there trying to cheap out as you have.

Max speeding rods(spell check) 24 adj on a 94 civic hatchback. Manual, street and track use, gutted but have AC, drove on them for about 2 years. Even on the hardest setting. It is like a mid+ setting on more expensive brands. On streets I ride 5 clicks away from max (pot holes in Florida and huge speed bumps) very fun to drive. My bucket seats makes the ride much more fun and gives me more information from the road. New upper and lower control arms and others tells me more if my car is in control going to do something crazy. New S drive tires all around, upgraded the brakes n stuff and I have a smile on my face every time i drive her. Of course, if i was thinking about going into competition, i would have to upgrade alot of stuff to get my time down. But for entry level? Go for it. I got the yellow maxpeedrods for my Mazda 3. Yes, they’re stiff but that’s what I preferred especially if my main goal is just lowering my car without the fear of bottoming out. That’s the pro side of the coilovers, the con side is the horrible built coil overs. I had experienced snapped end links because the front coilovers was actually spinning around in the knuckle. The company that made these coilovers didn’t take that into account. Also, I had a bad set. It would make noise when turning the wheel. Like banjo strings plunking. The customer service behind the coilovers is trash. Tried to get in contact with someone about the problems, no response... ever. If you’re tight on cash, just want to lower your car, doesn’t track your car, think luck is on your side to get a set with no problems, can fix a problem with the coilovers if you do happen to run across them, then I would get them. From my experience, it’s a hard NO.

They are absolutely worth it in the right circumstances, if you paid less than 1000$ for your car (or even got it for free) then you are never going to spend 1000+ on some good coilovers, but some cheap ones get the job done(specially when compared to the 20-30 year old stock suspension) and are a good learning experience so if you fuck up something it's not a big deal. Then when you buy an actual project car that you really like then sure, give it some good ones

I'm actually buying 250 dollar " ebay " coilovers. The specs look better than the others. Also im putting them on my 91 carolla. Which i bought for 850$$ a couple years ago. If you’re thinking about ebay coils and you have no intentions on hardcore drifting or auto cross I would say get them. I’ve had a few sets on a few different cars and I’ve also had some name brands ebay is the way to go if your just going to be racing in a line or drifting here and there and you’re not going to be competitive. They do also last along time I’ve had one set on my daily for the past 4 years. Are they the best and most adjustable? No but they do work for a more controlled ride especially older cars are well as looks.

I have a 2015 lancer GT cvt sportronic, I bought msr coilovers for $290, I had to ziptie abs line and brake line to the coilover since they didn't have a brackets, and the adjustable sway bar collar was always coming loose and twisting the lower collar loose ..about a year later the top mount bushings wallowed out and made some crazy clunking noise, and even at the lowest ride height I still had a 2.5" wheel gap in the rear, stock 18" tires. I just recently replaced them with another ebay brand "LOD shock" and they still have a 2" wheel gap in the rear, preload is at 0, and the fronts have a 2" wheel gap but if I bottom those out it will tuck the tires but... My rear end will still be up. I'm $600 into coilovers in 2 years, don't cheap out on important stuff

Let me give a better explanation of what happened. Ebay was one of the first e-commerce sites that really took off and they didn't originally have fees for posting. Once companies realized there was a market online to sell their products, they mostly moved off Ebay and launched their own e-commerce functions to their own websites. This was in the early 2000's. Also at this time many parts and components were being made overseas, like China, Thailand, Indonesia.... So around 2006-2007 Ebay was opened up to international commerce. So some of these overseas shops that were making the components for your big name suspension kits, started marketing their own kits using various pieces from the parts bins they had and making their own kits/ companies. This is where the "Ebay coilover" comes from. This is also where the "Wishlist Apple watch" comes from. There are a millions of examples of things like this. Why do you think there has been so many copyright and patent law claims in recent history. Overseas manufacturing seemed like a good idea in the 80's and 90's before e-commerce really became a thing. But now that shop halfway around the world is not your employee, they're your competitor. Now I'm not saying that they are a direct competitor for the knowledgeable consumer but they can attack that "bottom line" type consumer. And since, in the world of auto parts once it's installed you can't return, you have questionable products hitting the market.

I was stupid and bought eBay MaxPeedingRods coilovers for my 350z, they were great for about 3 months, until my rear struts blew out, I replaced those with two brand new ones, that lasted about 2 months before blowing out, along with one of the front ones. Basically it was a waste of about $300 after all was said and done. Do yourself a favor, if you want cheap coils, buy the cheapest teins they make for your car, at least those will last a while longer.
@reighner9904 жыл бұрын
Never have I bought Ebay coilovers. If you're too "broke" to buy quality parts, don't build a car at all. Simple. Either save up and do it right the first time. Be patient, do research. You're wasting your money in the long run buying cheap shit while you "wait" to buy the name brands.
@80s_Boombox_Collector4 жыл бұрын
So many people don't even know what's inside a coilover or how it works. So they don't understand why some coilovers are better than another. You really have to learn how they're built and what's inside, how the valving works, and you should analyze the company literature to see how much experience they have, whether they've track-tested them on each car they sell it for, and how many racers use them and vouch for them. The best companies don't charge $2K+ for their coilovers just because of the brand name, they do it because it's a high quality piece of gear that costs a lot to make.
@notevenchris4 жыл бұрын
Reighner Gargantos people like you are the opposite of what the car community stands for. it’s sad really. building and customizing cars is something that brings people together for events, competitions, photo shoots, and so much more. i’ve made so many friends and had so many good memories because of my car and the community around cars. I’ve never made enough money to buy the best parts or the nicest car. But it doesn’t matter. It’s about taking something and putting time, money, blood, sweat, tears, hatred, and passion into it to make a car into what you envision and then sharing what you made with other enthusiasts. A car full of eBay parts isn’t worthless because of that. It’s just balling on a budget because it’s an expensive hobby that everyone can be a part of, not just the people who make stupid amounts of money. Obviously parts from places like eBay are lower quality, but saying “don’t build a car at all” is pathetic. I’d rather build a shitbox with cheap parts and love the fuck out of it than be too scared of entitled people like you crushing my project because i can’t afford the best. Sad.
@80s_Boombox_Collector4 жыл бұрын
@@notevenchris It may be harsh but the message serves a purpose. When you buy cheap parts, you take a risk that they'll either break in a short period of time, or you won't like the way it performs. That's why you can't buy stuff on price alone. I mean people spend hours researching which phone to buy, and they rarely buy the cheapest one, so why can't that be true for coilovers too?
@notevenchris4 жыл бұрын
80's Boombox Collector I understand what you’re point is, but I don’t think the analogy applies. A phone is something you use everyday for school, work, the internet, social media, texting etc. It’s essential for most people’s daily lives. Coilovers aren’t essential for daily lives. Having a custom car isn’t essential, it’s a hobby/ passion. So spending $1,000 on a new phone that i’m gonna use every single day for hours and hours and get countless utility out of isn’t the same as spending $1,000 on a suspension for my 2001 Z3 just so I can sit a few inches lower and take corners a little harder. But budget setups that are more affordable for my income and can still get me to that stance i’m looking for just makes sense for a kid in my position
@80s_Boombox_Collector4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I hear you. But honestly, you're better off taking that $500 and using it to buy a matched set of springs and struts from a legit company like Eibach or H&R who's been in the business for decades. They might not lower as much as coilovers would, but I doubt massive lowering was your objective with a Z3.

Awhile back I purchased “rokkor” coilovers. Which were re branded racelands. One issue I had was camber maxed out on the front left tire. I solved with with camber bolts. Idk bro, I had a set of COT6 coilovers on my bugeye that I picked up because my passenger side rear strut was blown. I kept them on for a few months and when I eventually switch to Tien the difference was very underwhelming. I gave them to my buddy down the street and he loves them. I listened to everyone saying that it's a trash company and let it get to me. In my opinion the extra 850 bucks is not worth it and for most applications outside of a dedicated track car the Maxpeedingrods COT6 line coilovers are more than sufficient. They are way better than the stock setup on a 2nd gen wrx that's for damn sure.

I recently bought a set of eBay coilovers for my 2003 WRX and it was easily the worst decision I ever made for my car. They were horrendously firm which caused sharp pain in my back and neck, and couldn’t be softened despite claiming to have dampening adjustment (which turned out be useless). Build quality was horrible and the shock body threads corroded after less than a month, within 8 months of fitting, 3 of the 4 coilovers were faulty due to binding, popping, knocking, and rattling. The eBay seller refused to offer warranty on them despite the product claiming to carry a 12 month warranty. Instead, they offered to sell me a new set at a “discounted price”. Customer service was appalling. Needless to say, I removed them immediately and replaced with brand new shocks and lowering springs. Finally my car felt safe and comfortable to drive again. In conclusion: STAY AWAY FROM MAXSPEEDINGRODS COILOVERS! YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!
