They both have their place and time for sure. Great video.

You forgot to mention.....there's an eco 500HP mode on the hellcat with a cute little green leaf that is displayed that I use most of the time that calms it down and therefore needs less driver power management. It pretty much makes it a scat. Bottom line...the hellcat demands a lot of skill to make the power useable...and a really good driver has no issue maximizing the 707 on the street with better than stock tires of course. I hear what you are saying though...its nice to have a car that you can mash that wont kill you....takes the thinking and stress out of it. It's just something that comes with having unaided high hp and rwd. I had an an E60 M5 and rarely felt out of control....its quite the opposite in the HC....and that makes me smile. Different strokes for different folks. Pun intended.

Who uses the black key on a hellcat? All I know is on my 2016 Hellcat red key when I choose 500HP a green leaf appears and next to it it says ECO...which is kind of comical. I also have a red key valet mode which I've never used but I think its 300HP Thats hillarious too. Either way my point was about the 500HP option.

I'm not sure if more fun is the right way to describe it but the 392 is without a doubt the better daily driver. I've put 49,800 miles on mine since buying it brand new in February 2018 and she's been a bliss both in terms of giggles delivered and economical standpoint. The hellcat is better suited for weekends or the occasional road trip because it gets expensive going through a full tank every 150 miles (let's be honest, nobody gets behind a Hemi and drives for the mileages", a set of tires starts wearing out every 15,000 miles, those expensive six piston Brembos start needing new rotors and pads. We are looking at picking up a Redeye for my dad but I will hold onto my 392 for as long as I can, she's just perfect.

It's about the amount of power you can get to the ground. The 392 has just the right amount of grunt to get the power down. The HC has too much for the road, you'll find you're spinning your rubber when you really want to go. After a while it can get a bit tiresome, maybe that's why the 392 tickles your fancy.
@worksmarter64182 жыл бұрын
I think you're onto something. When you want to rip it you don't want to hold back. You want to go all the way, and it's annoying when your choice is hold back or spin n die Playing nice with the pedal is not savage

Nice points brother mang! While the 392 cars may not be the "end all/be all" in terms of all out horsepower like the Hellcats/Redeyes/Demons...but there is something to be said for the usability/accessability of the power of the 392. It makes enough power and immediate torque to be fun, entertaining and surprisingly quick, all while not trying to kill you. Plus the 392 sounds pretty damn good in its own right.👍👊

Yup! I agree. Supercharged muscle cars in general are awesome. But if you aren’t tracking or drag racing them they seem like overkill for the street. As a mustang guy I think the 5.0 with a 10 speed is the percent power plant for what I want. I’d only spring for a GT500 if I was making so much money that it was an easy easy buy (and even then would keep my humble GT PP1).

As an owner of both (well I sold my scat) but you're right for another reason as well. I find it "frustrating" to drive my hellcat. I live in Minnesota, so you can cut over half of the year out of driving it, to pile onto that people drive so damn slow even in the left lane it's just frustrating to even drive it. Even merging onto the highway I can't get into it, my fastest 0 - 60 is in the 5s for christ sake. You maybe have spaces in traffic (that you have to create) just to get on it for about 3 seconds before some ass merges in front of you going super slow. So I find driving the car frustrating most of the time tbh. At least in the scat I could floor it here and there and hear the engine.

Traded '16 SXT for '20 Scat widebody. The SXT was nice to drive, the Scat is fun to dive. I couldn't imagine driving Scat or HC without the wider 305 tires or drag tires. Even with the wider 305 tires on our WB, the Scat will spin them at 30mph. Probably couldn't drive a HC without drag tires haha.

I have a 2015 Challenger Scat Pack with the Shaker and 6 speed. I have 45k miles on it and have just had a blast with the car since I bought it new. It really is an amazing value and perfectly set up for the street. While I haven't driven a Hellcat or even ridden in one, I've heard other people say the same thing. Out in the real world, the Hellcat makes so much power that you can only do small pulls here and there before you're going crazy over the speed limit and smoking tires. The Scat Pack's power is right in the sweet spot. It makes more than enough to smoke the tires but you can still use it and do some pulls without going totally insane. Especially if you plan on daily driving the car, I think it's the best option.

traded my 16 challenger r/t shaker for a 20 widebody challenger scat pack. insta-torque! the r/t in track mode just felt like a try-hard. the scat is casually brutal. street/sport/track all feel smoother and more able - and the braking is worlds better. forget about the 4-6 mpg loss around town and just take the long way to work! you'll ask yourself why you cheated yourself out of so much fun. I'm even making a better payment. trade in on challengers are like 8% up with the current market. DO IT

The dealership I went to had a Redeye for sale and I still ordered a custom SPWB because it's ridiculous to have 797 hp in daily traffic. Hell, where I live, every major highway/freeway has had major construction or bridge romodelling going for 3+ years, non stop. That 797 looking real good in dead stop traffic at 11:17 on a Wednesday . I also don't have a track or strip anywhere near where I live so when would I get to let the legs run legally? The SP is the superior daily driver in Dodge's "car" fleet. Much more so with the 305's on the wide body.

And, all you M6 guys, you REALLY need to ditch that stock shifter and go with a Barton or Hurst. I went with the Barton which just seemed beefier and more solid, but that stock shifter, even though it is quiet, is anemic in comparison.

Hey Racer, thanks for all your videos. You did much of the research and sharing of information that helped my decision to buy a Scat Pack exactly one week ago. I love this beast. I have a question about the 305s you tested on Mrs. X’s Scat Pack... did you use the factory 9 inch rims? Mine currently has 275s all around but I want to put 305s on the rear. Not sure which rim size I have since this was a previously owned car that originally came with the 245s according to the build sheet. I welcome anyone’s advice on this.

Uggg I am really wrestling with myself over these two cars. Either a fully loaded Scat Pack or a mildly equipped Hellcat. I have a Mildly equipped R/T now so going to the Hellcat wouldn't be much sacrifice besides adding gobbs of power behind the skinny pedal.

Having both a scat pack and a hellcat, I kind of get what you mean! after going from a scat pack wide body to a hellcat widebody, and managing to get a scat pack slim body as a daily as a side grade. I realize that I just enjoy ripping it in the scat pack. It makes sense if you've ever felt how fun it is to drive fast in a slow car. Not that the scat pack is a slow car, but it is a slower car that's fun to drive fast in.
