As kid in 1957, I blew the transmission in my 50 Ford V-8 coupe a couple of times, attempting to "peel rubber". Got pretty good at swapping transmissions in the driveway. Tried to get in and drive an identical light green 50 Ford coupe in a parking lot.

Right on! Great story. The car was a great driver, but I think it would be fairly hard to get it to burn out haha.

That's a really nice '49! I had one a couple of years ago, a blown piston, seized motor, and massive amounts of rust added up to $5 grand worth of just getting it driving again. We sold it due to lack of cash and now it's an advertising billboard for a wrecker service :(... I've also had a '51 F-1 pickup with the same 239 flatty in it, that was a wonderful truck. It would start EVERY time and I even pulled a Dodge Ram out of a ditch with it. I love these old flatheads. If you need any parts for them, look up Patrick's Vintage Speed in Arizona. In the 80's before the internet, he got me all my F-1 parts over a phone call and shipped COD. Thanks for the video!

Sorry you had to get rid of the car, they can definitely be expensive when they're in rough shape. This one is very nice and a great driver already. I love that 239 flathead, such a great motor. I just recently sold this car, but will have another interesting car again soon to play with I'm sure!

Thanks for the nice ride I used to have one. My first car I bought with my own money $ 70.

Mine would start down to 14 degrees below zero. I'd have to use block heaters at temperatures colder than that. It came with dual block heaters from the factory. I'm from Northern Ontario Canada.

haha no I usually wear sandals, but don't like them when driving a manual trans, so I just take them off. Thanks for checking it out!

@@OctaneElectrons I watched your videos, which are excellent. This Ford is spectacular. And as far as driving style is concerned, removing the flip-flops to drive is the best thing: in this way you get a total feeling with the car. And zero risk that the pedals slip.

I think this is the same car that was in the movie "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". It was ridden by undercover Russians at the beginning of the film.

There's a grey 1950 sedan concerned in surface rust I have my eye on for $4000 I don't know if it runs but I might buy it as my first car. Even if it doesn't run I could always get it to. The only issue is that it's in south Carolina and I live in Pennsylvania

This is so ridiculous. I can't believe how many people complain about me driving barefoot. You can drive your car however you want, I will drive mine. Also, not illegal chief. www.thezebra.com/resources/driving/driving-barefoot
