This is a beautiful example of the parabolic arch of a rise ball. Shows how a Rise ball doesn't lift, rather if falls at a slower rate.
@joshturner54894 жыл бұрын
That is NOT a rise ball! A rise ball has a 4 seam back spin. She is merely pitching a high placement with no movement.
@ethntrrs3 жыл бұрын
@@joshturner5489 not all balls are going to have a 4 seam spin to it. cameras in games like this dont show ACTUAL spin. so the spin of the ball looks bullet spun.

Some low IQ people think it actually rises but it doesn’t

Yes yes, yes. And every low pitch is a drop, every inside pitch is a screwball, and every outside pitch is a curve

That's a Beautiful pitch

Please note this is a screw ball not a rise ball. A rise ball rises because the backward rotation creates lift.

I disagree - I have taught the riseball this way for years and yes this style does create backspin it’s where you release what what your body position is
@coltriley87984 жыл бұрын
It does have bullet spin

Colt Riley i assure you we use spinners with this style and I assure you it does not

Colt Riley come to Fort Lauderdale and I will be happy to teach you - I have used this style for years learned from the great Ernie Parker many moons ago - I teach the tradition and this version - there are more ways than 1 to get results
@coltriley87984 жыл бұрын
@@VirtualSoftball Yes, there is more than one way to get results... some are just more efficient than others. She's a great pitcher but her riseball is not perfect. It has bullet spin. You can see it plain as day in slow motion. And that's fine. I can't name one pitcher that is perfect. Not one. I wouldn't go out of my way to teach a bullet spin riseball on purpose though.

Hip out of the way? Are you sure?
@VirtualSoftball4 жыл бұрын
Not sure what the question is - she keeping her hip back - ball has proper spin and upward movement
@deansvenvold14583 жыл бұрын
She really doesn't have proper spin. It's a cork screw spin, which isn't a rise ball spin. Very few can get true back spin. Usually the spin is 10/4 or 11/5 at best. It helps to be able to throw 65+ like she does which makes it seem like a rise ball.

that ball is not even spinning right, that's just a high fastball
@paullangan1933 жыл бұрын
I guess we now have to re-classify what a rise ball is???? This is a fast pitch, thrown from low to high with a Bullitt spin. Bullitt spin stops the ball from dropping like a normal fastball. Does this make it a Riseball?? NO. Otherwise every pitch that doesn't drop like a fast ball is then a RISEBALL. Sorry to those that are claiming that this does have a little bit of Riseball spin. Well sorry not enough to truly call it a riseball. Again Nice UP ball with bullitt spin.........
@tylermickley312 жыл бұрын
All a rise ball is in softball is a high fastball…. It doesn’t actually “rise” it just seems like it does because it’s underhand. Still a hard pitch to hit. Same thing in baseball tho I would throw a high fastball and get people to swing and miss all the time it’s just even better in softball because of the “rising” effect.
@XxKiDCuDiFTWxX Жыл бұрын
Funny hearing this from people that have never thrown like this. Without that spin, the ball would not go there.
@joshturner54894 жыл бұрын
Wrong. That is NOT a rise ball! A rise ball has a 4 seam back spin. She is merely pitching high placement with no movement. Here is the physics of a rise ball. When a perfect rise ball is thrown it will have a four seam backspin. As the ball moves forward, the bottom of the ball experiences MORE (air) resistance. Additionally, the top of the ball experiences LESS (air) resistance. Objects move from MORE resistance to LESS resistance. And, in the case I have described, lift is generated due to the differences in resistance between the top of the ball and the bottom of the ball. The upward force is dependent upon speed (air speed which can vary with head or tail wind), RPM, air density (humidity), height of the seams (how big they are), and axis of rotation. This video does not demonstrate a riseball. Full stop. I am not saying the pitch you are teaching is a bad pitch, I am saying that you should start calling a spade a spade. There just aren't two ways about it, Dolly. Plane and simple.

It is a riseball but for some reason Megan Faramio and Rachel Garcia use a 2 seam style riseball.
@paullangan1934 жыл бұрын
I have to say this is not a RISEBALL -I would call this a 68mph doesn't drop much ball. Bullet spin keeps a bullet from falling when shot from a pistol or rifle. The same bullet spin on this pitch is preventing the ball from dropping. Yes she throws at 68mph and has an upward release. HOWEVER a TRUE rise has 12-6 spin!!! and will drop less. if a pitcher threw this same style of pitch at 55-60mph it would be hit out of the park. if a 55-60 mph is thrown with 12-6 spin then the batter would have issues.

Paul Langan I throw 54 and I have this same grip and release and I still get the same movement
@ethntrrs4 жыл бұрын
Paul Langan but although from this angle it looks like the ball is spinning sideways but when you see it in person you see the slight 11-5 rotation on the ball
@paullangan1934 жыл бұрын
I am not questioning the technique. I question the result. ..... in theses pitches shown it is bullet spin maybe a little 10-4 if your lucky. When you look from the catcher view you can see a straight low to high path.. ball was released low to a high target. Surprised the batters swung to be honest. Probably the 68-70 mph fastball is why they swung.... I teach my daughter perfect spin. Does she do it. No. But she is trying to do it....
@doughufnagle58928 ай бұрын
Bullet spin doesn't prevent an object from dropping. It stabilizes the directional path of the object much like a gyroscope
@paullangan1938 ай бұрын
I was trying to simplify things--- When a body is spinning around some axis, we say the angular momentum is pointing along this axis with a magnitude equal to the magnitude of the angular momentum. When a body has angular momentum is some direction, much like with regular momentum, it doesn't like to have its magnitude or direction changed. So, when the bullet has some spin, it has some angular momentum in the direction of its motion. This spinning adds stability, because the bullet itself doesn't want to turn on some other axis, thus changing the direction of its angular momentum, so it stays pointing straight. Since it stays pointing straight, it is more aerodynamic, so it flies for longer. If the Ball can fly longer at a given trajectory it will fall less..........@@doughufnagle5892

Are the commentators blind. Can we not all see the dirt mark on the ball that is going round and round. If there was any 12-6, 11-5 or 1-7 spin the dirt mark would disappear from view. If we want to teach perfect spin lets be honest to the audience. I don't believe you need prefect spin if you know how to control a pitch. Next thing you'll tell me is James Harden doesn't travel...........................
