Just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone for your kind comments! I am so sorry if I missed some in the live chat! 💙 HUGE thank you to, State Azure (Pat) for this gorgeous cover and for having me sing to help pay tribute to this brilliant composer. Love to you all and my sincere humbled gratitude 💙🎶 “Music is the most multi-dimensional knowledge we have. It's as specific as nature can be. Any form nature takes contains a specific sound combination" - Vangelis

Fare thee well Vangelis, my Friend since I was aged 10, although we never met...49 Yrs later I still hear the quiet gentle voice inside as I continue to awake & hear God in my heart... "Once, we did run How we chased a million stars And touched as only one can Once, we did play How the past delivered you Amidst our youth we'd dream away, away As if I knew the words I'm sure you'll hear Of how we met as you recall so clear Once, we did love Long ago how did I forget Holding you so closely Look, how I move Chance would have me glance at you To know how you move me, me All barriers fall around us as we hear Of memories known and matters so long ago, so clear Once, we did run How we chased a million stars And touched as only one can" - Jon & Vangelis

For an older generation - that would be me for example - our introduction to Vangelis was the soundtrack of "Chariots of Fire". The fact that this entirely electronic music could fit so well with that 'old fashioned' movie setting of a departed age - could fit so well most folk did not even NOTICE it was "synth" composition until this was pointed out in the media. That soundtrack opened a door for Vangelis that few synth composers experienced back then. He was one of a kind, for sure and a pioneer in his field. He enriched millions of us.

So excited to see this happening! What a wonderful way to honor Vangelis' memory. I was reading about his constant improvisation, as well as how he'd improvise directly to imagery / footage he'd let play while scoring, just letting the music flow from the impressions it made. I can't wait to hear this!

Like others, I was sad to read the recent news of Vangelis' death but delighted to hear the artists tribute piece, thank you State Azure and Amy. As a nerdy kid obsessed with space and being a wannabe musician, Vangelis had a huge impact on my life. In the 80's I bought as much of him on vinyl as I could and taped every episode of music of HOS as well. In college , I started off as a music major but changed to engineering, and remember studying late into the night usually listening to Vangelis (along with Jean Michel Jarre, et al ..) and eventually got my own synths and setup and one of my first jams was "Blade Runner Blues". Thank you for brightening our world with your instruments and voice.

I visited the cinema in 1982 to see 'Blade Runner' only because I'd read that Vangelis had composed the sound track. You see, I already owned his masterpiece 'China' so I was a committed fan anyway. I probably have every video version of Blade Runner, even the 4K BDs and I'm also a devoted fan of '2049' too. However, I have always considered David Gilmore out-gunned Jimmy Hendrix with Pink Floyd's 'Sorrow' so be that it may, I really think Amy & Pat might just have just outgunned the Great Man himself with this little number. Wonderful pitch bending right where it matters!

I, too, became a fan of this music as a teen. My teens were a bit earlier as I was first exposed to Vangelis when he was still in Aphrodite's Child. I followed his work with sound tracks and so on into the wider ranging works he produced through the 70's. I have been a fan since those days and will still follow anything I have not heard from him as I am certain there are more treasures yet to come. Like his contemporary Edgar Froese, the works will live on.

I know this piece very well, I have so many cuts of the OST but the 3 CD is best, pretty sure this is on it. Love you're using the Push 2 as a visual interface. Not a fan of the ADAMs, had port chuffing on the AS7x but that could be more so due to content. Pretty sure yours are dialed in perfectly. Is that Decakrd's dream under the speaker? Do I spy a JBL in the corner too? Vangelis was a gift to humanity, he did what he did without any real formal training, or ability to read notes. He and others are why I got into music, barriers that were overcome purely because of curiosity. Your piece was magical as was his gifts to us, thank you for this beautiful and haunting homage to one of the greats.
@LagrangePointD2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this cover. It's an excellent choice and a very nice interpretation. Vangelis is a big loss for the electronic music. Not for his recent works, but for his musical approach. Once, in an interview, he said in response to a question about his ignorance of musical notation: "I don't play with notes, I play with emotions.". This is an important lesson for all musicians and even more so in the field of electronic music. May Vangelis be and remain an inspiration to us all. Recently Klaus Schulze, now Vangelis... Hard times.

Liked your words above State and echo the same feelings about Vangelis. I first heard his music in the late 70's and didn't look back. His Albums China and See you later were pure magic to me at the time. So many highlights throughout his repetoire it is mind boggling. For me when I heard Starstuff from Rosetta I knew he still had a special talent that was always there and I should never had doubted it. All good things come to an end in the physical world but his spirit will live on forever. Genius of a man pure and simple. Look forward to other interpretations from you

I always knew that State Azure had the musical talent to pull this off, and then having the wonderful performance of Amy Wallace included in this cover, it is simply a joy to listen to. I will be replaying it many times for sure! Remember the State Azure cover of "Love on a Real Train" by Tangerine Dream? Back then his skills were already clearly evident to me in the way that cover was done. So to all you electronic music haters out there, it must be said that just because a musician is using modern electronic instruments is not an indication of a lack of real musical talent. On the contrary - Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, State Azure, and many others in their stead - they all prove that producing truly high quality electronic music REQUIRES real musical talent. Thank you for sharing yet another wonderful take on a classic musical masterpiece, Amy and SA!
