I have a big ginger chunk named Harvey, and he’s a lot like Haku! When I first got him and his sister Nikita as kittens this May, he was initially a lot more open and friendly to people, while Nikita wasn’t *un*friendly by any means, but was more tentative and less eager in general (the first time I went to meet the litter, Harvey spent the longest time chewing/licking/generally nibbling on my friend’s finger while sat in his lap! Nika mostly wanted to play with her 7(!) siblings, and the visiting humans were mostly just getting in her way 😹 and she definitely didn’t want to be picked up. By the second day when she actually lived with me, she was very happily curling up on my lap and purring though!). I thought it would be good for Nika to have a bold and confident brother around she could watch and learn from as well as to have a buddy… but turns out, Nika is chief of the adventuring department, and Harvey’s a big scaredy-cat! He got VERY upset when the window cleaners came round (I live on the 4th floor - 5th in American, and I don’t know how Japan counts building storeys!), which was basically a brush attached to a very long hose and plastic tube situation so they could stand on the ground and reach up to my top floor - he ran to my bathroom in the middle of the building and hid behind the toilet 🥺 I spent about 90 mins with him telling him it was alright, and making a den/tent out of my dressing gown and my legs to give him a safe place to hide (they came in the early morning when I wasn’t dressed!), and just hanging out with him sitting on the floor, poor baby. A few weeks ago a marching band inexplicably and suddenly (ad thankfully briefly - just two weekends in a row!) started practicing near my house (I live right next to a park and some schools, but despite much googling I couldn’t figure out who they were or where they were from!), and after initially running from room to room to look out the window (we could see nothing, only the neighbouring trees with most of their leaves still!), I found him having burrowed into my bed, underneath the covers - just a Harvey-shaped lump remained! 😹 Nika is much quicker to reset after being startled, sometimes willing to befriend random delivery couriers at the door and accept strokes, and much more brave about venturing onto the communal hallway outside my flat and doing a sassy little trot to the other end of it with tail in the air, while Harvey dips and weaves and takes his time! They’ve met a neighbour cat in the hallway (under controlled conditions, while both owners were present!), who was VERY interested in exploring new places and making new friends and immediately came all the way down the hall to where we were sitting outside my flat’s open door… but both my babies were scared and didn’t want any part of it - Harvey got confused, turned away from the “enemy”, and hissed at poor Nika! 😢 The neighbour-cat probably also looked like an alien to them - he’s an Abyssinian, and mine are fluffy Maine Coons! Harvey’s tail is like a combination of Haku and Nagi’s - orange, very fluffy, a bit stripy (he’s a tabby, though his back and about half of his sides are mostly dark orange, with the stripes mostly evident on his flanks, shoulders, tops of his legs, and his head and face), and frequently curled over at the end in squirrel-butt Nagi-style! 😻 He always has such a happy tail! Do any of your cats make biscuits? Harvey’s an avid biscuit-maker on anything soft (including the squishy bits of my body 😂), but Nika so far doesn’t want to make biscuits on things, and only very loosely and sporadically makes air biscuits 😸 Harvey doesn’t really have any white like both of your boys, other than his very blended in white chin and muzzle, though his legs and paws are a mostly blonde biscuity colour, with the orange stripes getting darker nearer his body. He’s beautiful anyway, just like both of your orange boys! 😻 Also very definitely a chonk - 6.4kg as of today, while his sister is a tiny 4.2kg! He’s put on a kilo in a month, whereas she’s only put on half - both their parents were huge and she was pretty much always the smallest of her litter, and boys get bigger than girls anyway, but I definitely need to build them more exciting things to explore and climb in my flat and also find some harnesses that fit and suit them (Nika is *really* wriggly) so I can take them for walks! And get better at ignoring Harvey’s very loud (but not Poki loud! 😹) and insistent, sometimes leg-bitey, demands for more food! 🫢 This comment has got way too long and out of hand already… but when Harvey sees a bug he quickly goes from ekekekkek chattering to the tiniest saddest little mew (not as big as a meow) if he can’t reach it, which sounds like what Haku is like 🥹 He has enormous paws and is very good at catching things! I’ve absolutely also done the cat-lift manoeuvre to catch a high up bug with Harvey, but I don’t have the same upper body strength as Jun! 😂 Last but not least - both Harvey and Nika do the Pichi reverse stretch - I’ve seen both of them have their front feet lift completely off the floor, and can confirm, it’s both hilarious and completely adorable! 🥰 (I’ve watched a bunch of your videos recently but this might be my first comment! 👋)
